Just finished watching the replay... a lot to like, but taking it with a grain of salt based on the competition. That said Reneau looks like he's really dropped the baby fat. And the 3 point shot is looking good. He is going to stuff the stat sheet this year, I hope he can stay out of foul trouble. He is clearly making a conscious effort but... still room to grow there. I think he could really surprise a lot of people this year and get some B10 honors Gabe Cupps. Holy cow. Those lobbs. The bball IQ. 4 years of him? You have to like the possibilities with him as your PG! And this front court... so versatile. Definitely going to be kinks to iron out in the first half of the season but I trust the staff to figure out the right rotations etc. I'll say this... I haven't been very impressed with Mack at all based on what I've seen from him in the past. He's really gotta figure things out on defense ASAP because if he can stay on the court long enough to get into a good rhythm, I think he is going to be able to score an awful lot of points for us. Banks, to me, just looks like the spitting image of a young OG Anunoby out there. He obviously hasn't put it all together yet (OG didn't really while he was here tbh though he did improve a ton) and looked sort of rusty/out of sorts early. But once he got into the flow of the game toward the end he looked really good. He's got a nose for the ball, a really good offensive rebounder. I am slightly curious about if he will stay engaged as the year goes on and minutes get tougher to come by. I hope he keeps improving. Think he can definitely contribute this year. Right now though, I do prefer Walker/ Sparks/ Reneau/Ware. Think he could have a big role next year. Ware vs Edey is going to be a helluva matchup. I like Ware's game but it's going to be interesting to see how it goes in the B10. Little worried about him holding up injury wise. But I think he can really elevate this team's ceiling. He just has a special combination of size and skill. Gotta continue putting in the work. The 3 point and free throw shooting looked a lot better today. Gunn... I hope proves to be better than Bates, but jury is still out on that one IMO. Need a larger sample size. Right now our backcourt feels like "quality over quantity" lol. The front court is just deep and talented as hell. It won't always be pretty. But I think this is going to be a really fun season.

I hope/expect that this game will be less competitive than Indy.

I hear you, but, stars aren't the end all be all. Russell Westbrook wasn't even ranked at all, was he? Yes those 5 star guys would help elevate us. But I do trust this staff to only take players they think can help us win. Development, with this staff, makes me feel pretty solid about adding a guy like this, if we end up signing him.

The fact they sent Malik to do the post game interview speaks volume about the trust they have built and his role this year

Yep. The consistency on that end is my big question for him... he showed that he CAN do it. But he needs to sustain it. Woodson won't let him off the hook for that, so I am optimistic that he gets it together eventually this season.

Malik attributed the first half to jitters. Said they need to get tougher, play better D, and try to keep teams under 60. "We're gonna try to do that this season" Says they need to talk more and show the new guys what they need to do on the court and we'll be fine.

Yep. We need to take and make more 3s. Do wish we could've landed another guard in the portal, but we roll with who we've got right now. I think Mack in particular needs a few more games at college speed under his belt before we start seeing him do his thing, for real. A few flashes here and there today but clearly off. Can Gunn stay focused be a net positive on the floor? That would be huge... Gallo and XJ need to do more... but as you said, I think we can do a lot more than we are actually showing today.
