The issue is not getting access to IU's BOT votes/minutes or how they're split/what they say. The issue is ... somebody's ... very bold claim that consensus decision making has NEVER led to unilateral authority at IU. The votes would just be a way for her to support her claims, which were stated as fact rather than opinion. Given the preferences of our mods, who do a great job, this will be my last comment on this line of conversation.

Sure, don't share the vote splits. Your point is well taken. The IU BOT publishes their meeting minutes and agenda, so you can see all of what is discussed or may be put to a vote. This conversation is not about my displeasure with Woody being retained, I'm unhappy because you won't answer a very valid question that RaceToTheTop posed which would go a long way in proving your point as well as substantiating your insider status. "Further, they don't make decisions the way you wish they would." Again you have no idea how I would prefer decisions be made. It does not surprise me that the BOT and many others have input... I definitely think they should. You've shed no actual light on how decisions have been made other than saying Scott Dolson is unqualified and consensus is important.

I've literally worked in PR/Marketing/Corp Comms world for 10+ years and I can most assuredly say it's a whole lot of nothing that she is saying.

I've seen no opinion, only vague allusions to working in the administration. No insight, only "consensus decision making" and "but my SEC BOT friends!..." Oh yeah, and a whole lot of speaking down to people, very plainly. I don't disagree about repetitive group stampedes on different opinions at all Stu... As for an agenda, when you're admittedly part of the administration, everything you say is in defense of the BOT despite you claiming you're not here to criticize or defend, while offering no actual insight to back that up and then be dismissive to anybody trying to have an actual dialogue ... You know, about something substantive like how consensus decision making may lead to unilateral authority ... it's hard to take it for anything but an agenda. She's not sharing an opinion I disagree with she is positioning herself as an administration insider, then offering no actual perspective aside from telling you that you're wrong and know nothing re: what you're talking about. I don't see that kind of posting style bringing much value to the board. Give me a vacation if I'm being too much but I've got way less patience for that than anything NGW did

I basically think she is more or less saying "every coach at IU is going to get their 4, and people really like Woody, so why would you ever think he wouldn't?" Like... that seems to be her POV, all the corporate jargon/speaking in circles is just window dressing. But hey, she works in the administration so that is why it's simple for her and so complex to everybody else. Just like Mike said... if you're not a "true fan," you can never really understand.

Showing the vote splits would certainly be a great way of proving that there is no validity to the notion, to reasonably minded people. Don't you think we're reasonable Cathy

We obviously have been having two very different conversations. You've added absolutely 0 insight aside from "consensus decision making is important" and "SEC schools have way more involvement from their BOT in football than we do in basketball" People are upset - not because they are confused - because they are bitterly disappointed. @RaceToTheTop is not asking you a question about the basketball firing/hiring process specifically. He is positing that your notion of consensus decision making at IU never having led to unilateral decision making, does in fact lead to unilateral authority by those closest to the area of their own concern: Answering the question about vote splits from the BOT would go a long way in disproving his notion. Unless the vote splits do show that, at IU, consensus decision making does in fact lead to group think - de facto, unilateral authority from the most important stakeholder closest to the area of concern (not a basketball specific question). If you're going to be condescending as hell, at least try to keep up with the actual conversation. Seems you either do not understand the dialogue or are purposefully trying to misrepresent it.

That's because it was a (very) smart question and could have blown her entire stance out of the water. She was only here to condescend and make fans to feel "less than" so we'd shut up and go back to our corner until it's time to buy tickets, merchandise, and donate again.

Being a dramatic toddler and storming off when people disagree, then on numerous occasions announce you're leaving - only to return after not so long - is certainly one way to engage...
