People being scared of your program doesn’t win or lose games, nor does the name on the jersey. Two things matter, coaching & players. We have had enough good players to be better than we have been many times over the past decade. Everything else is just noise & excuses. If DD is a good coach & we get good players, IU can be near the top of the BIG next year. If either of those two isn’t true or doesn’t happen, then likely not. It’s pretty simple.

Only since you asked, I’ll respond. Yes, “hand wringing” was hyperbole & “being negative for the sake of being negative” was a mischaracterization of my post, which you directly responded to. Not to mention the “go take a walk or read a good book” remark. Most of the board does well to avoid this type of posting, I hope you got what you needed from your commentary.

Objectively false. Having a staff in place > not, & to say otherwise is foolish. It may turn out ok, but it may just as well impact our ability to sign the players we want. I guess you can either sit out ANY discussion or conjecture until the entire staff & team is assembled, or continue to use hyperbole to mischaracterize what people are posting to try & shout them down.

So you don’t think the lack of assistants is of any concern or has any effect on recruiting or the portal, or are just incapable of objectively considering any negative observations of the new staff?

The lack of staff at this point has been more concerning than portal commits. Was hoping our guy would have folks lining up wanting to coach with him, but the timeframe for staff additions appears otherwise. The lack of assistants can’t be a positive for recruiting in the portal for many reasons…

Right. To hell with Dusty May, by all accounts he was asked & didn't want to be here. Yes, Buckner/Woodson/Dolson screwed us over last year, but if Dusty was an IU guy & wanted to be an IU guy he would be now. Much like the Masshole, he prefers to be part of another program, soI wish for nothing good for him since t9 some degree, his success comes at our expense.

Maybe, but if reports of him wanting to coach again at some point are true, kids will be out of the house, going to one of those schools with great resources while not scorning the Butler folks to take a job in the same state that he would be expected to be the messiah would make sense, but obviously a lot of other factors too. I mainly say this because I’ve been conditioned to expect the worst as an IU fan & seeing him go win championships at another school just seems about right for how things have gone for us…

If for nothing else I’d like at least one holdover that can tell us how different things are now than last season… ;)
