I agree. It definitely didn’t help at all. MV lost 2 - 5 star juniors and 1 - 4 star junior, a head coach, 3 assistant coaches (2 were Boyle’s sons) fairly late in the season. I don’t know any details but just making Chipotle was an accomplishment.

Unfortunately, MV probably ended with one of their worst performances of the season overall. They just couldn’t get anything going. Great high school career for Trent! Now, on to preparing for Bloomington!

If a kid doesn't go the AAU route, which happens, they might get missed or "devalued" since coaches put so much time into the circuits. Again, to your point, that is on the coaches.

Probably the combo of a few things. Sometimes, kids just get missed or don't get the exposure.

I believe this is related to the transfer portal era. Kids are being passed up or missed in the recruiting process in high school that are D1 worthy, then having to take spots at the D2 level.

Anyone attending, was DeVries engaging with the fans at all - photo ops, etc? I’m curious if he was the outgoing type, or wish he could hide like Archie? I attended a game with Painter watching Sisley where Painter was basically working the gym with photo ops and shaking hands all night.

I think any IU head coach should at least make an appearance at the state championship game(s) and always will. Recruits in play or not, IMO.

I’m all in. I actually favored McCollum over him but knew nothing much about either before the search. The more I’ve looked and heard of DeVries the better. I just hope he’s at state finals today. That’s not too much to hope for, right? Some of the sorriness we saw from the last guy was inexcusable.
