Are we sure we have a McCollum yes to fall back on? That dude is obsessed with Iowa
-
@JerryYeagley23 Dearest Jerry, We have never needed you more. Say nothing if Brad is confirmed.
-
@JerryYeagley23 . . . are we cooked?
-
So what happened?
-
I disagree because this goes against my chosen narrative!
-
Not to get us off topic....but how crazy is it that some people look down on Dusty and he's now sitting in sole possession of first in the B1G in year one. Watching Wolf last year I would have never believed it if you told me how UM would use him. Basketball genius.
-
@Chris007 Do we know when they would officially sit down with Brad? All-Star weekend is sort of a natural time but they probably won't be done playing in the buyout market by then.
-
Schedule makes sense. UM plays Sunday and then not again until Friday, so likely to be a travel day/ day off

I don't get why a midseason firing means that they have their guy? -

That was just a Trilly prediction, meaning he heard they were planning to portal. Doesn't necessarily mean that they will get in the portal before the end of the season -

I mean there is no doubt he wants it and that he would succeed. I trust Dolson and Whitten to do their homework but hopefully that is after the godfather offer for BS and a strong press for May -

I'm aware. As I said, I think this season is a wash. But the team still has talent maybe a change in rotations and play style could see them improve? Who knows! -

I mean all the assistants have spent their life in CBB. I don't think they are world beaters, but I do think they probably understand CBB more and sometimes you just need a reset (See, Diebler, Jake) -

I think Dolson and May have an existing relationship so hopefully in his case its just Scotty D shooting him a "u in?" text lol -

Look, at this point the season is over one way or another. If the admin thinks that it is more advantageous to allow a program legend to finish the season so be it. Personally, I think the potential for two blowouts to your main rival, continued booing and toxicity surrounding the program, probably open cheering for Dusty to replace CMW during the UM game, and booing during senior night make it a better decision to move now. I'd also like to see what a real coach could do with all the talent we have. But like I said, it really doesn't matter when it happens (and it WILL happen). What I really, really need to know is that the admin is smart enough to start back channeling now. A lot of the hot names are going to start taking new deals, I would hope that Dolson is getting his list ready and finding a way to gauge interest. -
I am a big McCollum fan. In all my time watching college basketball, it feels like these guys who scrapped their way through the DII level almost never fail. Usually those DII guys don't stay long enough to win 4(!!!) championships, there were rumors that McC was abrasive and difficult to work with in his personal life which may have contributed to his lack of DI opportunities. I think we could get him, but I would be wary of Iowa here. It's an open secret that Fran's retirement is quickly approaching and Iowa's A.D. has been eyeing B-Mac. He's from Iowa City and took Drake in part to position himself well for that opening. I also think people should be wary of style of play. No doubt they are well-coached, but his teams play SLOW (dead last in country in tempo). There might be an argument that we don't want to be that team but most of us probably don't care if he wins.

Don't get lost in the individual W's and L's here. I said at the beginning of the season it would take competing for a Big Ten title and a top four NCAA seed to bring him back and I think that's still true. We are still pretty far away from "Woody stays" territory. Each win does however make it much less likely that Woody is let go in season, but I think the odds for that are low anyway. -

You aren't guaranteed anything in this business. It's hard to turn down a B1G job with no guarantee the IU job comes open, or that they ever call you. I think the fact that UM, OSU, and L'Ville were his options shows that he wanted to get back to the midwest. From what I've heard about him I think he takes IU's call. But he may feel that he owes UM and his players more than one year. Best realistic option though. -

Woody is gone, the admin isn't gonna make the call today so I'm not wasting anymore time on it. In my opinion we should all be able to agree Dusty is number one. I've been doing laps for him on here for a year, you can check my posts about his record at FAU. I was told he was unproven, but I am glad Coach Cignetti has ended the debate once and for all. If you are a good coach, you are a good coach. If you are going to bring up Archie's record, you might as well save the characters and just say you don't know ball. Dusty is the energetic program leader that Pat Kelsey is with the X and O proficiency of Mark Pope. MAKE HIM SAY NO. He is the best option. Young, energetic, modern. He is not only being considered because he is "in the family" like Woodson, instead his connection to IU is maybe the only reason he would take a call from any other school. His buyout is incredibly low, but those conversations need to be backchannelled right now so he doesn’t take the raise that will be offered as soon as UM senses us sniffing around. My impression is that he would take the call. It’s a unique opportunity for IU and I hope they don’t screw it up and that the door isn't closed. Some of the other names here don’t really make sense Pearl isn't leaving, would be expensive and I don’t like him anyway, but if he takes the call, sure. I don’t want Beard because beating your gf is a no-go for me, but I can promise you that is a non-starter for the admin, so we should stop wasting time on him. FYI, the cops dropped the case because the fiancé declined to cooperate, but the police report is jarring enough (did she fake the bite marks?). It speaks poorly on many of you to carry water for this man as the role model for our players. Stevens isn't going to come but sure send a call out, fun to dream about though Oats wants to go midwest apparently, not my favorite coach and would be uber uber expensive but would no doubt be good Other options are: McCollum. I don’t want to hear about "unproven" anymore. If anyone compares someone to Archie I might melt down. If you can coach you can coach. There have been strong rumors that McC is an ******* and that stopped him from reaching D1 until now but if he wins who cares. Luke Murray: Hurley sucked without him, his offense is a dream, and Bill would come to our games! Obviously any asst. is a risk though. Shrewsberry/Shertz: TOUGH sell to the fanbase, I get it. But you have to understand that Shrews has built a roster without the portal, the old fashioned way and his best player missed half their games so far. I promise they will round into form. Probably not quite good enough for IU though. Same thing with Shertz. Great coach but probably not flashy enough in year one at SLU. Dusty checks literally every box. Get it done or regret that we didn't for the next 25 years. -

At the absolute least the admin is going to take the time they have with the two away games. If both are bad losses, I would expect the admin to make some sort of announcement. Obviously, their preference is to let him finish the season, so they will watch these two games for something to hitch the wagon to. -

Wow, this has gone off the rails. I think he should be let go, or a retirement accounced before the end of season. What I worry about is the environment at home games. These players don’t deserve to hear the fire mike woodson chants, they don’t deserve to hear the crowd clamor for Dusty, and I worry for their senior night. A guy like Goode who wanted to play here his whole life shouldn’t have to carry the weight of the shitty coach for the whole season. An interim allows the team to play freely without the shadow over them, and to be honest, I think without the shackles of Woody's system they would play better. OSU last year is the perfect example, they just needed a reset of the vibes around the program and they Diebler let them play freely. Let Kenya coach the team without the cloud for two months. -

Hopefully this offseason everyone stops overthinking this BS and they make the obvious call to try and bring him home.
