(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU

Not sure how Gunn could be a "new shiny thing." He's the last guy in the incoming class that anyone mentions.

(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU

I like Trey Galloway, I like his attitude, his energy, etc. I don't know if I would be disappointed if he continued to play heavy minutes this coming season. But the fact remains that IU's greatest liability last season was 3-point shooting, which also happens to be Galloway's greatest weakness. If other players demonstrate they can shoot significantly better than he does this season, their playing time will increase at the expense of Trey's. It's not just Bates and Jalen Hood-Schifino who could take time away. CJ Gunn could also cut into Galloway's time if he can demonstrate he shoot and play defense at the college level.

(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU

Minutes taken by both Jalen Hood-Schifino and Tamar Bates.

(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU

You must be confident that Galloway is going to develop a reliable outside shot. I hope he does.

(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU

It's hard to justify starting a shooting guard who shoots poorly from 3-point range. Galloway brings energy, passion and leadership. Unfortunately for him, as players like Jalen Hood-Schifino and Tamar Bates develop, Galloway's playing time will suffer--unless he develops a reliable outside shot.

    Of course it did.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

Great shooters have a way of playing at a higher level than predicted by the "experts."

    2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

No surprise. Why would he wait around until TJD decides what he will do, especially since most observers do not believe Trayce will be drafted.

    2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

Who knows what Trayce is thinking? Woo seems to think TJD won't be drafted but could wind up with some deal that would allow him to get to the NBA in 3 years. Nothing definite of course.

    2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

Woo says TJD could get a 2-way contract and play G League. But best case is he would be on an NBA team in 3 years. He's not very optimistic about Trayce's chances.

    2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

If Jordan Hulls can help Galloway with his 3-point shooting, Trey will be able to keep his playing time where it was last season.

    2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

With new players coming in and the likelihood that Tamar Bates plays more to his potential, some players that had significant playing time this past season will not play as much next season. Players fall back in playing time from one year to the next. You have to like Galloway's hustle and energy. But his shooting form is awful and unless he fixes his outside shooting others who can hit those shots will be playing instead. I predict by next season's end, his playing time will not be what it was at the end of last season.

    2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

A team that hopes to improve and compete for a conference title can't start a shooting guard who can't shoot.

    2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

Galloway has to start hitting outside shots to warrant significant playing time. He provides energy so he is an ideal bench player. But he should not be starting.
  15. That's correct. Likely top draft choices (1-5) often don't attend. But there are some questions about almost all the players even some projected lottery picks. Some of the top projected lottery picks attend the NBA combine but don't participate in the scrimmages and other high contact activities. Until the final list is made public nobody will know how many top players are passing on the combine.

    2022-23 IUBB Schedule

If you knew it, why didn't you say it? Recent to what? You don't say that either. X's case is scheduled for a pre-trial conference later this month at which time settlement issues will be addressed. But I suppose you knew that.

    2022-23 IUBB Schedule

If Woodson was going to cut Xavier loose it would have happened already. There will be a plea deal. A case like this never goes to trial.
  18. If TJD has been invited to the NBA draft combine as reported he would be in the top 60 according to NBA teams. My guess is he still returns to IU next season.
  19. Don't know where you got that from. What I said was TJD will return to IU unless he is given a commitment from an NBA team that they want him on their roster. In fact, it happens though I don't believe it will with TJD. Your characterization of my post has nothing to do with my post. But you seem proud of your ability to amuse yourself.
  20. I'm not sure that video clip provides an accurate picture of TJD's current outside shooting ability. That was a pretty relaxed workout--slow pace, nobody guarding TJD. Full court scrimmages at the combine (assuming he is invited) will provide a better test of his ability and more likely to be evaluated by NBA teams.
  21. As stated by BGleas above in response to my post: "Yup, especially if he rides his decision out right up until the deadline. If he does that, then it tells me he is fishing for a promise for a team, WHICH HAPPENS ALL THE TIME." (emphasis added)
  22. TJD's decision is going to be based on whether or not a team commits to putting him on their team. Even if it appears he will be drafted at 32, 33 or 34, if there is no real commitment to making an NBA roster he is coming back to play at IU next year. TJD can make more from NIL than from playing in the D League. Irrespective of what he may have told a reporter, where he might be drafted is not the issue. The issue is whether he would be drawing an NBA salary rather a G League salary.
  23. It just takes one team to decide that TJD's skills fit in with their needs.

    2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

Poor Dexter Dennis. He was already to go take an offer from IU but IU gave its last scholarship to Malik Reneau. Now he's stuck putting out his top 6 list in May.
