Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD
ap2345 replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I doubt he was forced to stay and the truth is probably someplace in the middle. With that though I know you are a Celtics fan and have close ties having worked their but Ainge is a snake when it comes to making trades and improving the roster and that's why they are struggling in Boston. I don't trust him and hate the way he plays teams in the media when his fleecing attempts don't work. With that said Mike Woodson is IU's coach for the next several years so I think we can move on from any Stevens talk for at least another 5 or 6 years minimum. If Matta's still around and Brad's kids are older then maybe Matta can hire Brad a second time and Brad can finally return home and take a crack at his dream job. He can deny it in the press conference but at some point he will want to try and tackle his dream he had when he was a younger coach even if the timing wasn't right this time for whatever reason. -

I have a gut feeling that Hunter and Roberts may have had their hands tied a bit on what they were able to do under Archie so I'll let Woody, Matta, and Dolson make those decisions since they have a better grasp on guys coaching abilities. -
(2022) - SG Chris Livingston
ap2345 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
There's a guy that popped in the peegs chat a couple days ago and said that all of a sudden since Woodson has been hired Chris Livingston has IU much higher on his list of schools/pro options now. Who knows if it's true but it's interesting. -

It's possible. Rabby has stated he could stay on in a player development role and he could stay on as assistant #3 if other candidates don't work out. I would assume he's still going to be doing something or else he would've likely moved on already. -

I've seen people say this but not a single person has given an explanation. -

Nope, he’s still living in Chicago for a while because he still can’t find a suitable horse farm. -

Mike Roberts was at the team meeting today as well. So I’d imagine he will be back in some capacity. -

We’ll see what happens. I don’t know if I buy this one but I hope it’s accurate. I also hope that all of Peegs and Rabby’s hinting at Lewis comes through too. -

I wouldn’t be surprised if Fife and Lewis both end up coming back. -

That’s it. Just a rumor at this point but I like it so I’m rolling with it. -

There is a rumor that a man named Dane Fife called a builder in Bloomington within the last day or so about houses. -

Well you are WRONG and uneducated on the subject. We have our high school kids lift during the season and we shot 40% as a team from 3 on the season. Your argument only holds if an individual is lifting to gain a ton of muscle mass which IU’s players aren’t. IU’s players aren’t any more bulked up than most other good programs. -

Very true. On the bright side I don’t think his shooting could get worse so it can only get better. -

This might be one of the worst takes I’ve seen yet. -
And he was recruited by IU too. Wouldn’t mind him coming here the second time around.

They didn't create Matta's position. The job description has likely changed but the position itself is not new. -
Stewart is the only one that keeping Hunter would really play a major role in.
-
There are several guys at ND that fill a similar role to Franklin. Not sure that would be the best fit. The other 2 I could see why they'd be showing interest.

IU is on life support in terms of blue blood status. That said a couple of good years and things can be revived quickly. With the right coaching and players things could be righted pretty quickly.

Rabby has also said that the other assistants will more than likely come from the list of assistants he's got on the hot board. Said something would have to change for their to be a surprise hire. -

No, I heard he posted it on an update about assistant coaches and the current players.
