  1. How comfortable is CAM in using the redshirt? Doesn't seem like it's something done much anymore.
  2. Both of these are very true! This is 100% why I love this board.
  3. Wow. Love this post. Very wise insight that I hadn't grasped.
  4. Agreed. IF Garland picks Vandy, he might give them a more serious look, but he knows what he would mean to Indiana if he goes there, and I think he's smart enough to pick that.
  5. but yes....this team is NOT good at the guard spot under Archie's new system.
  6. I guess I'm not thinking in the traditional 'point guard' sense as you. RoJo ran the point last year and I honestly like him better at that spot than a consistent 2 guard. OF COURSE he is our #1 two-guard, but in a pinch, I'd rather have a bigger lineup with DD/Smith/Freddy or DD/Smith/Moore than just putting our a 3 guard set for the heck of it. In this case, I'd like Al (as he is clearly a 4 year guy, barring devastating injury or transfer) and RoJo. make way for the TRUE point guards of the future in Phinisee and (possibly) Garland.
  7. It's concerning for me too, but I also don't think that Vandy wouldn't be on his list if it weren't for Garland. RL has continously put out there that location is important to him. And, if memory serves, his three closest visits (maybe save KU and of course ignoring UL) are in his top 3. If you look at most of the CB picks for Garland, they are all Duke insiders (lord knows why they switched), Vandy insiders or national recruiting guys that have not been involved like Rabby has.
  8. I'm thinking collectively as I've watched the four games. I've felt like he tries to do too much. He scores all seven of his points right out of the gate, and then I just felt like he was forcing things. Yes, I liked how he was intentionally trying to get the ball to Davis, but it wasn't like he was the sole guard trying to do that--clearly an emphasis. I fully agree that he is our most explosive and athletic guard, but without careful guidance, that doesn't always develop into a consistent, productive member. With the right maturing and experience, yes he could be VERY valuable. I guess I see more to gain from developing other guards than Green. Just my opinion and I hope you don't feel like I'm basing yours for being different.
  9. The current class we have makes us really good in 3-4 years. The class we COULD have makes us good in 1-2...
  10. Ahh, the reason why we hired the best coach we could've. I was torn between wanting him or Marshall with a slight edge to Marshall. Glad they went with CAM.
  11. Current roster--true. But he's too inconsistent and I could see that has being a huge negative. If a junior Green tries to be "the man" next year (of course, depending on personnel with the possibility of some 5 stars that we might land), that might not sit well. To those, he NEEDS to take a back seat. Of course, now I'm talking hypothetically. But without considering the '18 class, I don't see Green as the man next year assuming we have DD, JS and AL.
  12. The ONLY negative side I see to Green besides his temper is that he seems to want to be "the man." I'm not sure he will ever be that at Indiana.. Could honestly see him transferring to be the man at a smaller school, though, as much as I hate to say it.
  13. I agree. I would feel differently if he was picking between IU and UK, Purdouche or OSU. HATE THOSE SCHOOLS.
  14. I like this analysis...I'd like to add my own opinion without too much gin taking over :) 1) I hope EVERYONE runs and is forced to make 50+ free throws tomorrow at practice. That was EMBARRASSING and if not fixed could be the reason we lose several games we should win this year... 2) I'm personally hoping that the CuJo/Green issue is based mostly on not really developing under Crean last year coupled with still trying to learn CAM's system. They are both far too talented to be on the court while under-producing while we could be utilizing and teaching the freshman with game-time experience. 3) I want less of Newkirk. He had some nice games last year but I am a fan of developing your future rather than playing and underwhelming senior. 4) RoJo impressed me tonight when I compare him to the other 3 games I've watched this season. And we need to be celebrating the fact that he's 1 point shy of the 1,000 point club at IU. Would be IU's 51st in over 100 years of ball.
  15. This cannot be understated. 0 fouls is huge. AND he played 29 minutes. Hopefully he can reciprocate that against Delgado or else we will have our work cut out for us down low.
  16. Agreed. Miller's rotation will shrink based upon those that are doing what he wants and doing it well. I know he basically played 9 players today not counting Morgan, but I see it closer to 8 (barring foul trouble) once he gets halfway through the season.
  17. They don't, but they are making solid logic-based opinions as to why they think Garland will pick IU.
  18. I don't think this is a bad team. I see this team as a team that is trying to figure out how to play according to the new coach's system. Some posters comments about "breaking bad habits" is totally true. 22 three-pointers is CRAZY for a Archie Miller team. They will learn. They will gel. They will gain confidence. I don't see us as being a guaranteed tournament team, but come January, February, March--we will be a team that other teams don't really want to play.
  19. was a long time reader, short time poster, but I agree....just can't do that.
  20. oh my bad! But yes, we should try to get together for some beers at Nicks before some game. Let's sink the Biz
  21. My take is that the confused part is semi-expected from a new coach. I see promise from this team, but it will definitely take some time to "figure it out." I see a lot of bad games at the beginning of the season but I wouldn't be surprised to see them disrupt some good teams later on in the year. Not a tournament team, but a team that, at the end of the year, isn't a guaranteed win for better teams...
  22. Just curious--what website/app do you use for these stats? I like the layout but don't know the medium used..
  23. Right but that 36% equates to 39 points from distance. That’s over half their points. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
