I guess if he's finishing in June, he wouldn't be fired, but you get the point. I guess they would do it for Stevens but seems like the stars aligning would be difficult in that sense

Never say never! Although people forget Lavall had BU in the top 5 at one point last year. Also brought in the highest-ranked recruiting class in Butler history and is dealing with ~a million injuries this season. While they’re really struggling, I think he’s far from the hot seat

As far as Stevens goes... I’m sure it’s near impossible and that NBA teams would be lined up to hire him if he was let go. And I do remember him saying he had a lot more time to spend with family because of not having to recruit etc... But I also remember him saying it’s the Boston freakin Celtics. One of the most legendary franchises in sports history. And made a big deal about that and how it was one of the only jobs he would’ve taken to leave Butler. So maybe he’d rather return to the right situation in college than coach the Sacramento Kings or Atlanta Hawks or whoever. Who knows

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Thad Matta. Definitely not the sexiest possibility, but I think he’d bring back consistent winning to the program. At Ohio State in 14 seasons: 2 Final Fours (1 Runner-Up), 2 Elite Eights. 5 Big Ten regular season titles, 4 Big Ten tournament titles. Another Elite Eight at Xavier. I know his last few seasons were pretty meh, but if he could return to mid 2000s form... Of course, who knows where his health stands. I’m sure being the HC of Indiana wouldn’t help. He could really recruit at a football school... I wonder if he could pull the same weight and then some at Indiana?
