  1. He would owe Alabama $12M if he left this year. Not happening.
  2. Yeah, I've looked into him a bit. If Dolson is serious about "modernizing the brand," a guy like Musselman or Oats would be good candidates. I know Oats has a big buyout, but I wonder about the language in that contract. Edit: Nevermind, just looked up his MoU. He's on the hook for $12M if he leaves.
  3. Well, I'm a free agent I guess. Sell me on Musselman.
  4. Gonna set my sights on Beilein so I won't be disappointed.
  5. I would say the timing is definitely not perfect, but it probably never gets any better. It's a "now or never" situation, which sucks for Stevens because he's in the middle of a season. Logically, if he truly is listening and considering, and IU has put up the money being rumored, then it would seem he'll be on the sideline in SSAH next year.
  6. I have a hard time believing that this could take place and NO ONE heard or saw a thing. That doesn't mean it didn't happen, but it strains credulity.
  7. He could- on his way to the presser. He's not going to interview in Bloomington. Indianapolis? Atlanta? OKC? Sure. If he comes to Bloomington, it's because he's taking the job.
  8. Certainly doesn't pass the smell test. If he's in Bloomington, he's there for an announcement. There is no way in hell that he flies in just to interview. The proof's in the pudding- either there is a press conference announcement today, or the rumor mongerers are full of s**t. I'm guessing the latter.
  9. Fred is not yet my dawg.
  10. I'll kick the dog...
  11. This was the rap on Roy Williams, Dean Smith, Bill Self, and even Coach K for a long time. If you keep bringing talented teams to the tournament, eventually you break through. I think Miller is analogous in this case.
  12. There just isn't going to be a hire until they have a chance to talk to Alford. Even if they don't ultimately hire him, he's getting an interview. I'm surprised that people still don't get this. As for realistic, I'd say Bennett, Miller, Collins, and Mack. Who the hell really knows, though?
  13. I don't disagree at all, but I'm not doing the hiring.
  14. It seems pretty obvious that they are at the very least going to talk to Alford. That won't happen until UCLA is out, so I wouldn't expect an announcement of any kind- Alford or otherwise- until after that. Unless, of course, you believe in the Donovan interest (I don't).
  15. 1. Stevens 2. Donovan 3. Sean Miller 4. Bennett 5. Collins 6. Archie 7. Mack 8. White The top 3 are pie- in- the- sky picks. I think it will be Bennett.
  16. It's gonna be Alford or Bennett. Accept it.
  17. Not to derail the thread, but you like watching pitchers hit?
  18. http://iuhoosiers.com/staff.aspx?staff=2 Scott Dolson, Deputy Director of Athletics. AKA, Steve Alford's former roommate.
  19. The fact that Dolson is a part of this hire does not inspire confidence in this sentiment.
  20. It's going to be Bennett or Alford.
  21. LOL. Bloom gonna Bloom.
  22. What the what? Because we don't and haven't had good people off the court? Every coach deals with young guys doing young guy things. Every coach also needs ATHLETES to win. The romantic idea of a bunch of scrappy guys who "play as a team" is mostly a fairy tale. This is not a good post.
  23. More talented than the team with 2 lottery picks? No.
  24. There is no chance that this actually happened. It's human nature to want all the answers, RIGHT NOW! This isn't a situation where there are any answers yet. Relax, enjoy tonight's game (whether rooting for a win or a loss), and don't expect any sort of movement with the head coach of Indiana until another school decides they want him. At that point, Indiana's move will be determined by the NCAA tournament. Patience...
