Certainly the best roster a new coach has had at IU since Sampson. Maybe I'm greedy but I get the feeling it is going to get even better, possibly with another addition but certainly with player improvement.

Franklin has probably been the closet but that is still a huge stretch. There is always some idiot saying something dumb to be found on social media but this year the majority of fans have wanted most/all the players back but still wished them well whatever they ultimately decided.

Of course there is a reason, Painter wants a raise. He probably has his people starting those rumors. -

There are a lot of beautiful places in this country including California and many of them offer tons of outdoor activity equal to or better than skiing, skateboard parks (really?), or surfing. Most of those places do not feel the need to tax and regulate the ever living crap out of everything, do not suffer frequent electrical blackouts, water shortages, and tolerate people crapping on the sidewalks. -
If Franklin leaves that would make 1 in 4 that Woody failed to recruit back, so your contention is what, that a 75% success rate in recruiting is failure or that the one lost outweighs the three won? Either way it kind of sounds like you've taken the position that Woody can't recruit and are grasping at straws for evidence to support it.

Florida gets laughed at for its weirdos. California celebrates theirs. "Florida man" would not be an outlier and garner little attention in Cali. -

A person can get all of that in Texas and most of it in Florida with a lot fewer weirdos, better food, no one crapping on the sidewalks and without the insane taxes/cost of living. -
Iowa was probably the best of that bunch and they don't play defense. Those games were also prior to December.

That's the down side to playing a variety of Little Sisters of the Poor type teams for most of the season.

Refs to the rescue again.
-
Oh my god they called a foul on Timme!
-
Apparently Bo thinks Gonzaga is Wisconsin the way they're getting to the foul line.

LMAO! Few teams in major conferences will ever have hope of going undefeated again. It certainly won't be Purdue!

Yes, there is more reason for optimism than not, IMO. This team could have easily been 16-11 with just a few more shots falling, which would have likely put them firmly in the bubble. Stewart will, by several reports, be a strong addition. Plus the BIG will not be nearly as strong next year.

Did you not see any of Lander's three point attempts? They put the ugh in ugly and it was a minor miracle any of them even hit the backboard. -
There's absolutely no chance Gonzaga could have gone through a BIG schedule and more importantly BIG refs without 2 losses. Every team has a bad night from time to time and there were only a handful of games Gonzaga could have slept through in the BIG this year. On the other hand, they only had to show up for one or two games all year in the WCC and that is being extremely generous. It bothers me less that Gonzaga would go undefeated if they do than the way they would do it, ie. a down year in college basketball, limited fan attendance, and being from a terrible conference. It just doesn't compare to Indiana not only doing it from a major conference but beating the national runner up for the 3rd time to do so. Michigan being the national runner up and IU beating them 3 times has always been the most impressive part of the undefeated season to me.

My wife did a year long internship in Lincoln, it is much, much nicer than West Lafayette and Purdue, unfortunately, still get's recruits. Nebraska's lack of historical success in basketball hurts them far more than the location. -

Personally, I prefer Lewis but Fife probably makes a lot more sense. -
There are two things intermixed in the panicky responses I think. First, I think every reasonable fan knows there is going to be a rebuild of some kind necessary no matter what but most would rather avoid a "from Tabor up" type rebuild if possible. Second, these players really aren't all that far away with a decent coach. IMO, the biggest structural issue was the coaching or lack thereof, with a good coach and another piece or two they could be competitive pretty quick, especially in a BIG that is not going to be as tough next season. Still, the coaching hire is the most important thing though and it is better to lose some good players than to botch the hire.

I really don't see the thrill in anticipatory b******* but to each their own I guess. There will be plenty of time for that once an actual hire is announced. Personally, I can even wait for some actual results...not a hiring announcement but actual on the court results. -

I don't know, some of us find the whole Chicken Little, "The sky is falling!" thing to have gone far beyond obnoxious already. -

While there's a lot to be said for an experienced Woody, sometimes an old Woody doesn't work out as well as expected. Everyone wants a successful Woody but doubts remain that this Woody is up to the task.
