  1. This is definitely a different style of basketball than I'm used to watching
  2. Thanks OF! I knew it had to be better than last year.
  3. It's not a real low dribble, but he's able to still take off with it at full speed and guys just can't catch him. Him leading the fastbreak is quickly becoming my favorite thing to watch for during games. If he can continue to improve his handles, THAT is what's really going to elevate his offensive game. He's also a good passer out of double teams and does a good job of getting the ball to his guards on fast breaks and then racing ahead for lobs.
  4. Not yet he doesn't. His FT shooting does look better than last year (without looking at the numbers) and I don't think he'll ever be an outside shooter, but you hope that he can eventually develop a midrange game. Still so raw in so many ways. I know you weren't inferring this, but many people jokingly ask if he can do anything other than dunk and the answer to that is yes but at the HS level that isn't a necessity often. He's actually got nice touch around the rim, nice little jump hook and has even brought out a little fadeaway a few times. His development is fun to watch and I keep having to remind myself he's just a junior and has only been playing organized ball for a couple years. The little flashes of "what could eventually be" are tantalizing.
  5. If that's not a flagrant they're just plain cheating
  6. You can get away with a few guys not showing up to play. But you're not beating anyone when the entire team doesn't show up.
  7. Harrison must have played a bunch of....not so good teams to be undefeated. They've got a kid headed to Marian who's tough and not much else to speak of outside of him.
  8. Tamar Bates looking like defense is a foreign language he has yet to learn
  9. Was my first time seeing Catchings, man he's good. Yeah Kokomo's guard play/coaching make me want to pull my hair out.

  13. Basil is a little before my time OF ;) Throughout the 2000's and early 2010's we always had talented teams, and we were really tough to beat at home. Side note, Basil was sitting on Anderson's bench when they visited Kokomo last year. Don't know if he's an assistant or just an advisor.
  14. Watched the 2nd half on stream while simultaneously watching our 2nd half. Flory missed the 2nd quarter due to some injury. Zionsville was up 32-16 at the half as a result. After halftime he was back out there and Kokomo made a nice run and got to within 5 or 6, but then Zionsville pulled back ahead and maintained a 10 point advantage for the rest of the game. Another unfortunate game of a team surrounding Flory and leaving Kokomo wide open from deep and Kokomo just doesn't have the necessary talent to make them pay. That's the gameplan and we're seeing it most games now. Kid is doing himself a disservice if he stays in Kokomo his senior year. It's sad. A school this size should be able to find better talent. We had plenty of it back when I went there. All that said credit to Zionsville. They shoot the ball well, have great patience to eat away clock (don't get me started on how much I hate that it's 2022 and we still don't employ a shot clock) until they find a good look, and stuck to the gameplan on Flory even after Kokomo got close in the 2nd half. Sucks for Cal/Painter to make the trip to see him barely used. His lone 2 points apparently came off a sky hook in the first quarter.
  15. The more CJ Gunn the better as far as I'm concerned. Definitely brings a skillset we don't get with anyone else.
  16. Well coached game by Carmel. They packed the paint on defense, made Kokomo beat them by the 3 ball and it almost worked. If you had 4 solid/good shooters around Flory it'd be nearly unstoppable at the HS level. He really does control the game on the defensive end though. Anything around the rim is sent into the 6th row and even on the perimeter he alters almost everything if he's in the area. He's even got quick hands and comes up with steals leading to fastbreaks. And once he's leading the break is really where the fun starts. His speed, athleticism, and even to an extent handles for a guy his size just blow you away. His improvement from last year to this year is very clear to see. Hope they continue to work with the guards on feeding him the ball when he's calling for it.

  21. Not a perfect game from anyone but man Trayce let us down tonight. A small portion was a size disadvantage but a large portion was lack of aggressiveness and will to win. You'd think someone with NBA aspirations would want to show out in games like this up against NBA caliber size.
  22. Probably the worst minute segment of officiating I've seen all season
