  1. I’ll add this, if QB really has veto power to control the BOT votes, and it gets reliably leaked nationally Dolson had a major move in the bag like a Pearl or an Oats type— ugly does not begin to describe what next year would look like for Woody and regrettably the players through no fault of their own if they don’t win 25+
  2. We could change the thread title to IU Basketball Fan Group Therapy because if this wasn’t here I would be pulling my proverbial hair out with only my wife to listen to my complaints lol or maybe she’d be pulling her hair out from listening. Also, that change.org petition is going to reach its first goal before close of business…
  3. The buyout information is really interesting. Would seem the public opinion campaign has started from within and I am guessing it is because Dolson knows he needs it to get around QB.
  4. This is exactly what I keep coming back to. I am baffled by the thought QB would risk a midseason firing of his friend and veto a chance at someone like Pearl. If we whiffed on Pearl to keep Woodson it would be an all time blunder. I am not trying to be overly morose, but it would seem at that point the administration simply does not value/care about IUBB being an elite program-- no matter how much the fans and general alumni believe it should be. The narrative amongst our rivals would be confirmed. Not special, not a blue blood, and never going to reach heights that happened before I was born or on par with the UNC/Duke/Kansas's of the world.
  5. Genuine question for the brain trust and it is going to seem like a silly question about someone who played here and is on the BOT but... How clued in to the program future outlook and CBB as a whole is QB? I ask that because it would seem hard for me to believe anyone who cared about CMW on a deeply personal level and understands how ugly next year is likely to be would be encouraging him or pulling the strings to ensure he is still the HC. If we get to 1 January 2025 and we are worse/equally bad than we are this year, his seat isn't going to be hot it is going to be nuclear and the media is going to be brutal. I just don't understand how QB could want that for his friend unless he is completely out of the loop when it comes to CBB.
  6. I will preface this with Beard is no for me despite how talented he is. That said, he has a team that won 3 conference games last season and went 12-21 and has them 20-9 with a chance to finish .500 in conference. What he has done at Ole Miss in one season is, in a word, remarkable. If anything he is showing how quickly a good coach can turn a program around in this era. He will have a ton of interest.
  7. It is sad but not surprising honestly. They can see the writing on the wall, I doubt seriously MR wants to play with 5-8 new teammates and lose a boatload of games in the process. For the majority of the season, no one looked like they were having any fun.
  8. Right? Or maybe use the guy that was added to the program and had head coached a team to two FFs in the one and done era. Hind sight is 20/20, but Dolson knew this was a long shot and attempted to mitigate the danger. CMW just had the top cover to not have to use the resources.
  9. I got to thinking about the late season wins and what, if any, result could have on the tenure. It felt like a while since we had won back to back games, and sure enough last time was in December when we beat Morehead State, North Alabama, and Kennesaw State. Short of winning the BTT (LOL) and a couple in the NCAAs I just do not see it mattering. Either Dolson is set on moving on, or we never were going to in the first place. I cannot come to any other conclusion given the overall problems going forward. College is so different from professional sports. A lame duck coach simply cannot be allowed to continue due to recruiting, and I think we have already seen the results of CMW getting negatively recruited against before you dare throwing out the "L" word to describe his recruiting philosophy or lack thereof. Maybe I am dumb for believing any of that, but it just seems like a few meaningless wins from a team playing loose is not changing the tide. Even on AC Jerod was almost breathless trying to build up the win and Coach and Ryan immediately brought him back down to earth about beating a bad Maryland team. So I continue to hope we do the right thing for the program going forward.
  10. I have been on the Pearl train since Crean was fired, and he still gives me the most confidence in terms of instant credibility and success. That said, if CDM goes to OSU and wins and has success in March, we cannot outbid them. We would be putting a lot of eggs in the “dream job” basket. Their new AD is the guy from A&M who just gave Jimbo Fisher 90 MILLION dollars to not coach football. The way Ryan Day has been throwing money around, it is a different world now at OSU and they were already not scared to spend money. I want Dusty anywhere but a B1G school the likes of OSU.
  11. As your campaign gets off the ground, allow me to remind you to give your constituents what they want. *Clears throat* FIRE MIKE WOODSON.
  12. No one responded because it was a ridiculous and condescending statement. Painting people as “either having a conviction or not” and thus qualifying it with some outlandish statement like “run for BOT if you think you can do it better” doesn’t make you principled. It makes you pedantic. There’s no point in arguing with someone who will make statements like that, hence, no one replied. It’s a bad faith argument and will just go in circles. And again, all happening within an anonymous internet thread titled Fire Mike Woodson.
  13. I think one thing that does concern me is today was the first time it has looked like Woody specifically adjusted the scheme. Almost like he was told to or else. He went a long stretch with only one center and MM at the 4. We played so much better and he subbed MR back in, offense stalled with two centers and he took him back out with like 3 to go and we iced it. Maybe it was just a fluke rotation, but he looked like he was deliberately not running KW and MR at the same time. With the lane unclogged it opened the offense up. Shouldn’t have taken 28 games to figure out.
  14. Maybe in a vacuum, but that’s why I qualified my statement. Does it help? Sure I guess, but the fundamental and macro problems with the program aren’t changing because of some late season meaningless wins over mediocre teams. For what it’s worth, I think Sparty will run us out of the gym. Time will tell I guess.
  15. Nice W, happy for the players. I don’t think this moves the needle much, Maryland is an absolute mess. Beat Sparty and win a couple in the BTT and the conversation probably changes. This doesn’t change the fact that next year is going to be a total rebuild. Woody wasn’t hired to do a whole rebuild and shouldn’t be allowed to try in year 4. I don’t think a few inspired games by the team changes that. Just my opinion
  16. Sunday funday just got more interesting.
  17. They’re going to see the hard way, similar to that other poster on here that people don’t like being talked down to from supposed moral superiority. Gate keeping the descriptive adjectives we should be “allowed” to use is offensive. And I generally like AC.
  18. After their show Thursday this reeks of a course correct to maintain their program access. Even Jerod was pretty harsh saying something to the effect of keeping woody would show a program that doesn’t put winning first. And for those not familiar, Jerod is the king of sunshine pumpers.
  19. Are you speaking in generalities about the fan base right now or this specific thread? If you are embarrassed by incessant piling on, a thread titled “Fire Mike Woodson” might not be the one to hang out in.
  20. Maybe the fan just thought if he wanted Mike Woodson to retire he had to go tell Mike Woodson in person? Lol I’m kidding of course, but at least this gave us something to talk about today. My coffee this morning has been entertaining catching up on the thread.
  21. I don’t think anyone was saying him being paid a ton excuses the behavior. I, for one, was merely pointing out that the compensation is super high because dealing with idiots and being a public figure is part of the job. Wanna make 75,000 dollars per win to date? Okay great, unfortunately you will have to deal with the occasional jerk and thousands of people booing you at home on national TV.
  22. I will preface this by saying that yes it’s classless and boorish behavior. But this doesn’t really move the needle for me at all. CMW is the public face of a large state school getting paid literal millions to coach basketball. This is part of the gig. Like it or not. I deal with angry travelers daily and hear a lot worse than “you need to retire”. This entire comment thread allows us to anonymously discuss and say the exact things this idiot said in person. It’s not that far off for all the handwringing I’ve read about this. Kentucky literally kicked people out of the stadium last year for having FIRE COACH CAL signs. Is it stupid? Yes. Does it happen everywhere? Yes. Sympathy from me? No. Personally, I’ll stick to anonymously calling for his job online. However, the irony of that is not lost on me.
  23. Our best win is Wisconsin at home who have completely fallen apart and lost 6 of their last 8 with a likely L coming in Illinois. The thought that finishing 9-11 or 10-10 in a very weak B1G could save his job is horrifying. An argument could be made that our best game from a statistical standpoint was the loss to Kansas at home.
  24. https://www.on3.com/college/ohio-state-buckeyes/news/college-coaches-weigh-in-on-the-ohio-state-job/ Really interesting article on the OSU job, hard not to draw some parallels from what coaches said about their opening and a potential opening at IU.
  25. The not recruiting thing last night was really bothering me, so I went ahead and spent way too long at work reading through NCAA by-laws out of curiosity--it was terrible and you guys are welcome lol. If this has already been stated by someone smarter than me, apologies in advance...that said... If I am understanding it correctly, each student can be "evaluated/recruited" 7 times during the recruiting period (1 September-30 April and limited to the recruit's high school campus or regularly scheduled competition). During that period, the staff has 100 such evaluations they can conduct which equals roughly 14 recruits visited at their school or observed playing during the season if the full 7 are burned. So, that said, we are to believe that Woody and Co. either have burned through all 7 evaluations/in-person recruitments for say Sisley or Mullins, or, that they have used so close to 100 that they want to save some before 30 April for transfers instead of 25s in Indiana. The excuse from Rabby is pure BS. Now I am more mad
