Not sure Sean Miller belongs on this list. Would rather have Wade if we are taking someone from that scandal.

I don’t believe that. His wife is from Louisville and the grandparents are there. That is where he wants to be

Mack is NOT leaving his dream job of Louisville

Sorry. Didn’t read it as buzz Beilein was going to be the hire. Appreciate you sharing although I hope this is NOT the case.

Why don’t you just post what you are hearing??

Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)
IUCane replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Why is it absurd for IU to want a $50mm buyout if another program would try to hire Stevens? If IU is Brad's "dream job" and IU is going to make a commitment to Brad by paying out a $10mm buyout to a current coach and pay Brad a contract in the TOP 2 of all of college basketball why shouldn't IU want to recoup some of that investment and the cost of replacing him if he were to bail?? Maybe you structure so that the buyout is only that large if another college team, and a lower buyout if another NBA program came calling so IF he decides college REALLY isn't for him even at his dream school he can more easily transition back?? -

Why?? Would you not have given Coach K a lifetime contract?? Would you not give Coach Saban a lifetime contract? Agreed you can't just give those to anyone, but for certain coaches why not especially if are "locking" them into a salary where you know inflation over time is going to make the annual number seem very reasonable ?? -

Nuts?? Or committed??? Wish IU was "as nuts" as UK.... -
Mack is NOT going to happen. His wife is from there, UofL is his dream job, his contract contemplated sanctions as it automatically extends and at higher annual $$ amounts if they get the hammer.

IF I were the donor being asked to cut a $10mm check I would have wanted more than “promising”. I would have wanted a signed agreement. -

Then tell me what is his rumored salary now? Why wouldn’t we match? I can’t believe he is getting Pop money -

That brings him from $4mm a year to 7.5mm per year. Exactly what IU was offering correct??? -

So if “truth” what is the “new” salary at Boston? How does it compare to the 7-8mm IU offered post taxes/cost of living?? -

are you able to say if sources were coming from booster side, athletic dept side or player side? Not asking for names -

Stop with the outbid. This isn’t about $$$. Taxes and cost of living make the rumored IU offer more attractive even IF he got a raise -

If you have a signed agreement it can be done without having announced. Think that is what we were being led to believe. -

And the rumored raise only gets him to the rumored number IU was offering. -

IUCane replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think the disappointment is coming from the fact we were led to believe this was a "done" deal. That the wife wanted to come home. That we were offering enough money that it would match a high level NBA coach with a lower cost of living. Never once were we led to believe that Stevens felt underpaid by the Celtics and that was a risk?? You would have thought Dolson/Boosters would of have gotten a signature on terms before ponying up $10mm and taking a chance they "could" sign him. -

But we were "led" to believe we were hearing good things from the other side (Brad's Wife)....doesn't seem to be the case -

It was never going to be about $$$...NBA can always match college. We were led to believe they wanted to "come home" and we were showing enough $$$ to make them feel wanted. Obviously they didn't want to be back here that bad. -

Is it though?? We paid 10mm and don't know who are coach is/will be?? Tough to say that with certainty
