  1. Way to rep the BIG Michigan! Down 78-44 with 3 left
  2. Maryland wins by 10. No Dez Wells or Evan Smotrzxcsscycczch. 10-1. They'll be tough. Similar to Illinois in my mind.
  3. I was going to post the same thing. Athletic and raw. Crean loves him some of that. He isn't using his athleticism at all though. Looks lost.
  4. saw that coming. Can these teams somehow BOTH lose today. That would be awesome!
  5. Wow, smh at the Big Ten. @JonRothstein: Iowa State just beat Iowa @ Iowa by 15 w-o Bryce Dejean-Jones + Jameel McKay. America better watch out when the Clones get to full strength.
  6. Sadly this probably helps UK as Lyles may get more run but...... @AdamZagoria: Report: Kentucky’s Alex Poythress Suffered a Torn ACL http://t.co/Yf4pUQftNr
  7. yep and he hit them. Offense looked good??
  8. It was a widely accepted excuse for our post season failures. Crean admitted to pushing them too hard. Crean likes his long practices.
  9. yeah, I agree. I wasn't trying argue either just agreeing and continuing the thought. Sorry for the confusion.
  10. yep, advised not to shoot 3's. Great! That would be perfectly fine if the opposing teams didn't know that same thing. When they sag off that much, you have to make them pay, or play someone else.
  11. yeah it's still funny on a third viewing. The clip when he bodies him up cracks me the F up.
  12. Thanks, fun debate. I can see both sides really but I remember constantly seeing that sagging D against us to end the year and Yogi wouldn't shoot. Either way it was a detriment. I'll take 30% 3's over the contested junk we were forcing. And yes, with a sophomore Yogi who had greater reins and confidence, we might have had a banner.
  13. Most obvious examples, but struggles started about 10 games out give or take. Wisconsin in BIG tourney a perfect example too.
  14. at the end of the season?? Sure we did. We didn't hit 60 against Temple or Syracuse. We struggled mightily to end that season. I am giving you my opinion as a part of the reason why that occurred. If you have a better reason for our offensive struggles that's fine but as I watched it was clear to me the sagging D killed our spacing, movement, and offensive flow.
  15. If you want to talk percentages, let's look into the other players FG troubles due to the sagging D and doubling. Yogis wide open 3 at 30% may be a much better option than another players contested attempt. And even if it's not, hitting just 1 3 pointer would have opened other things up.
  16. again, it's not that simple. Shooting shots makes defenders respect and guard you. This spreads the court, opening up lanes, etc... He doesn't have to hit 40% to do this. If he hits 1 or 2 in a game the sagging stops. The OVERALL offensive attack changes. It's like a post player who can't shoot outside 5 feet. Nobody has to guard him. Allows clogging/doubling etc. Are u a basketball player, or have you ever been a basketball player? It's not about comparing percentages. It's about the flow of the game and taking what is given to you.
  17. Watch the games. Those guys who shot better % were covered out tight, face to face beyond the arc. Yogi stood at top of the key with no defenders within 5 feet. All I'm saying is the sagging D on Yogi messed us up offensively the end of the season. No one else could get open looks and Yogi wouldn't shoot it. He got no respect and maybe he shouldn't have but either Crean has to adjust to that D, let Yogi shoot, or put in a player that would command the opposing teams respect. I would have let Yogi fire a few. If he hits 1 or 2, things open back up. He took 1 three pointer in our biggest 5 games.
  18. One further note to support my point: 2012-13 end of year biggest games Yogis 3 point shooting OSU loss on home court.......0-1 Michigan win away to win BIG.......0-0 Wisconsin loss in BIG tourney.......0-0 Narrow temple win in NCAA.........0-0 Syracuse smoking in NCAA.........0-0
  19. Not sure if it was mentioned but Marqui was ranked as 50th best WR in the 2013 class. He is built very well. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he is a starter next year.
  20. Mechanics??? Are u kidding? Agree to disagree. Go watch last 5-10 games that season and look carefully at how we were defended.
  21. Not sure where to put this but this is comedy gold! @FunnyPicsDepot: Trying to defend 7'6 Tacko Fall like... http://t.co/Fg4h34FJfK
  22. I suppose you can say that but Coach makes ultimate decisions. If players aren't doing what you want and you, as the coach, continues playing them you are at fault. Other players lose respect for you as a coach because you are thought to be weak. Players may like you as a person for being nice, but to gain respect, you must hold your players fully accountable for your on and off the court expectations. Anything less is a coaching failure.
  23. Yogi was always a good shooter in HS. He did struggle his Freshman year for sure, but let him shoot his way out of it earlier in the season.... He was coached not to shoot and opposing D's sagged off him like crazy, packing the middle on Zeller and clogging Oladipo drives. In my estimation that was maybe the biggest general coaching blunder of that season. THAT is why we struggled late that season because Yogi stopped shooting the long ball and no one guarded him. Teams adjusted, we didn't.
  24. I sort of feel that way too but it's honestly Crimson colored glasses. We've looked Horrible in games and stretches, and if I was a rival fan I would not be intimidated at all. Just nervous we'd get hot from 3. That's it. We have a punchers chance but we don't have the superior team to too many. Teams are shooting 10-20 more FGs than us due to Off Rebounding and Turnovers and Crean is delusional. Did you hear him at the half the other night? Feigning confidence??? Maybe. Oblivious??? Maybe
  25. Coach has FULL control of that. If guys don't play the way you expect, show them the pine. I have coached many sports on many levels. The bench teaches lessons quickly.
