He won 4 bowl games in 4 years at Texas and had a winning record there. I'd be okay with that. His record before FAU was 54-22 with 6 bowl appearances.

For a coach with such a strong offensive pedigree, his ability to put points on the board at FAU was a bit concerning .  The Owls had four games where his team put up 10 or less points - not great.

Here in lies the problem with IU Football....if we find a Coach who can turn the program around....that Coach will be hired away from us.  I'd sure like that problem however...for once.

I don't see this as a problem at all, if (and a big IF) the new coach is so successful that a bigger power comes and poaches him, we will have enjoyed 2-3 really solid years and will be in a better position for the future than we are now.

He blocked me(in case no one knew, IU Twitter is insanely FRAGILE) so I couldn't see but I believe IU deleted the tweet. IU football marketing is a massive joke. I mean they really don't even do great with basketball so it isn't a surprise.

I am convinced that dude is on Tom Allen's payroll or has some form of Stockholm Syndrome, super weird....agree with you LCS.

  4. I will be the first to admit I don't know much about Martin, but his body of work is interesting.  Exceptional performance at the D2 level w/multiple championships and a bit of mixed bag in MAC w/three division titles scattered in b/w a few clunker season.  Before taking the gig in Oxford he was with the Notre Dame staff for four years as well.

Net, he wouldn't be my first choice if I am Dolson but there is some intrigue. I wonder if this interest is hypothetically inspired by Kalen DeBoer's track record and current success?

Sort of. Transfer portal has changed a lot obviously. But also those extra years kids are getting. A lot more 23-24 year olds where it used to be 21-22 year olds. Doesn't seem like a big change but it makes a massive difference. You'll see a shift starting in 25-26 when everyone with a COVID year has graduated and left finally. Wild to think about but Galloway and Leal each have a COVID year because of their freshman season. I also think your top freshman aren't as good as they were 5+ years ago.

Great point LCS, it was noticable that Wright St.'s damage came primarily from players that had 3-5 years of collegiate experience (Holden, Welage, Hubergiste, etc.) As has been mentioned by many posters, wish CMW would have picked up an experienced bench guard from the portal to compliment this squad.
