  1.   I've seen this thrown around a lot after three games against nothing competition. I think people are forgetting how good freshman Zeller was.
  2.   You have the names switched.
  3. Good article with a lot of information on Lagow. It's from June. http://www.recruitingnewsguru.com/former-dallas-area-star-qb-and-uconn-signee-richard-lagow-working-back-to-d-i-ranks-from-cisco-c-c/
  4.   I just think there are a lot of sour grapes here. People are instantly jumping to the conclusion that Howland must be cheating to get good recruits to MSU. Let alone to get good recruits just on a visit. The guy is a good recruiter.
  5.   His last year at UCLA he finished 1st in the Pac10. Sure, a decent amount of coaches have players in the pros. How many have 2 top 10 players that play on two of the best teams in the NBA? UCLA currently has 15 players in the NBA, most of which Howland is responsible for. http://www.uclabruins.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209744938
  6.   UCLA wasn't really in the wrong with Shabazz as far as I remember. It was Shabazz's father.    I think most of you are underselling how good of a coach Howland is. He went to three straight Final Fours. The guy can recruit. He had Kevin Love, Westbrook, etc. He can tell recruits that and they'll listen. He doesn't need to cheat.
  7. Wouldn't be so sure about that. If you look at the time of commitments Carolina went almost 2 years without a top 100 player committing. Just recently they picked up a few (two I believe) top 100 recruits, but this is still a significant drop off from the players Roy was bringing in before.
  8. Well, I did my part: http://lukeburch.com/2015/09/22/bloomington-deserves-college-gameday/
  9. The fact that Newkirk will be coming off microfracture knee surgery is worrisome.
  10.   I never claimed Indiana would not be able to recruit other kids. One again, rankings for the most part are generally a good predictor of playing time and ability. There will always be exceptions though. Also Dekker was a stud freshman, so your point there is irrelevant.
  11. They did this because it may allow them to delay their response to the NOA. They are trying to make it through basketball season before receiving their punishment.
  12. Sam Dekker was a 99 rated recruit and and No. 12 overall nationally. Keep feeding that narrative and maybe it will come true though.
  13. For the people suggesting that this is the only type of recruit that Wisconsin gets - stop. That's not true. Wisco may not be pulling down Top 10-20 recruits consistently (not for lack of trying), but they are also getting players higher than No. 998 in the nation. As suggested this kid is a good, not great, shooter with decent size. The best path for him would be to take a year to redshirt and work on his strength and defense. Then hopefully log 5-10 minutes as a RS Freshman and try to work his way into the rotation. Unfortunately we have learned over the years that Crean doesn't like to use redshirts because he likes to have roster flexibility.  Sure the kid can shoot and is from Indiana. Those are great qualities to have. You also need elite level recruits to compete at a high level these days. This is not 1980. For everyone claiming that recruiting rankings are a "crapshoot, they may be if you look at a single site. However, if you use the RSCI rankings (which is a combination of several rankings) they are pretty predictive of playing time and ability level. You can scream "BUT OLADIPO WAS ONLY a 2.674 STAR RECRUIT" all you want. Those type of players are not the norm. Not every low star player that commits here is going to turn into Oladipo.  If you look at the reactions last night from some of the people who extensively cover high school basketball in Indiana they were "Wow. Can't believe that" and "Completely stunned" or something along those lines. So to say this is an underwhelming commitment at this stage in the process is accurate. If GG was the last one to round out a class with some 4-5 star players it would make more sense. It's not "complaining" to be critical of recruiting as long as the complaints are well thought out and valid. Crean has missed on his fair share of recruits, especially recently. It's okay to ask questions. All that said, the kid is a Hoosier. I'll support him every time he puts on a jersey, but that doesn't mean you can't have some concerns about the process that brought him to IU.
  14.   Oh don't get me wrong, Duke definitely was an awful program for a while before he got there. And I'm not trying to knock CKW at all, just wanted to point out that Cutcliffe is not a bad coach.
  15.   1. "Duke is worse than we have ever been"   Well this just simply is not true any in way, shape or form.    All time record:   Duke - 474–493–31 (.490) IU - 459–631–45 (.424)   Last season:   Duke - 5-3 in conference, 9-4 overall IU - 1-7 in conference, 4-8 overall   I can continue if you want. However, it will only further illustrate that your claim is wrong.   2. Cutcliffe is a bad coach?   Cutcliffe receives Walter Camp coach of the year award Cutcliffe voted the nations most underrated coach  Cutcliffe ranked 9th best coach in college football   He's so bad that Peyton Manning and a plethora of other quarterbacks flock to Duke to work with him in the off season. He's so bad that he turned to the Tennessee job among others recently.   Should I continue to prove you wrong or will this suffice?
  16.   Wait, what? Surely this is an absolute joke. Cutcliffe is widely regarded as a great coach. I''ve seen him on lists of the top 10 coaches in college football before.
  17. Not sure how a thread about women's basketball ended up being about how the US "struggles" (not remotely true) in FIBA competitions.    Going back to the women switching to 4 quarters - I'm not a fan. For some reason I've always really enjoyed the face that college basketball was two halves. I thought it was unique. Not sure what turning it into quarters accomplishes.
  18. Fantastic opinion article on "The Carolina Way" http://m.journalnow.com/sports/columnists/scott_hamilton/hamilton-time-for-unc-to-put-up-or-shut-up/article_344ce8d8-f2d0-54f0-9130-c6ef47c8c2bf.html?mode=jqm
  19.   UNC still has 90 days to respond to the NOA. After that (to my understanding) there's a hearing and then the NCAA takes time to decide a punishment. Syracuse had their hearing in October and didn't hear back until March. These things tend to go slow.
  20.   I don't expect it will be for this season unless UNC self-imposes. Likely 2016-2017 will be the first year.
  21. Looks like they'll likely receive a 2 year post season ban and lose some scholarships. If the NCAA can prove there were ineligible players on the 2005 and 2009 championship teams then the banners will come down.
  22. 18 years of academic fraud and it started under Dean Smith's watch. I would like to see those 2005 and 2009 banners come down, but I won't hold my breath.
  23.   Yogi, JBJ, RoJo, Troy, TB, Hartman, Zeisloft, HP, and Holt are the nine players who will be vying for the most minutes in my opinion.Injuries, summer progression, transfers, etc will shake things up, but those are the nine I see right now.
  24. I see people listing 10 player lineups and frankly that just isn't going to happen. Maybe early on during the easier part of the schedule, but come B1G play it will likely only be 8 players getting serious minutes.   There's only 200 total minutes to go around. Yogi is going to play at least 32 minutes in nearly every game and James will at least get 25. That takes the total minutes down to 143ish. Then you have to imagine Troy and Thomas will get in the 25 range too. That leaves 93 minute after four players. It's just hard to spread minutes out and keep a whole lot of continuity in your team.
  25. Just so you are aware, people do want Cal gone... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/you-made-your-bed-john-calipari--now-lie-in-it-233738456-ncaab.html?soc_src=mediacontentstory
