I think we will. It'd be just like us to go in there and dismantle them just after a crushing loss.
I love the accountability of those fans that said this season is going to be a roller coaster ride and we are going to sit back enjoy the growth and development of our players & that they remain supportive of the players and coaching staff even when the ball drops down our rim 1 or 2 times less than what it would take to gain the "W".
I love the high bar of character Yogi displayed during the post game interview last night. In the face of huge frustration, you could see the determination & belief this lad has. I really felt he was nothing short of a class act during the interview & it made me very proud to be a Hoosier fan. He certainly absorbed the responsibility for what transpired last night & you can see he is ready to move forward with a very positive expectation.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the development of our players this year. I believe these guys have made great strides in the physical & mental areas of their games. They just need to get an absolute belief and vision of what their standard level of play is and be able to play with that through the emotional roller coaster ride (great plays & turnovers) of each game --- possession -- pass -- etc.
It is awesome to see a coaching staff remain accountable to the principle of getting better each and every day. CTC talks about not accepting after a win what you would not during a loss. During the highlights of our Wisky win you may or may not have noticed the way in which we crashed the boards during the shots. Some of our players were all over this concept at this stage of the season. A couple were not as much. I didn't see anything in the media or IU forums regarding this issue, but our coaches were on it and players made significant strides by the time we beat Michigan at home. I'm going to mention Troy W & Austin E only to highlight what I feel is a small example of what the coaching staff is in the process of doing here. I'm certainly not calling them out in a negative way here & I apologize if on an offensive board AE was told to hang back for the sake of getting back on defense during the Wisky game. Anyway I hope you enjoy watching the differences in these two highlights and I appreciate what the staff is doing for these athletes.

Bringing this back to light from all the frustration last night. Remember, there is a reason you LOVE Indiana Basketball, sometimes we just need some help remembering what that is.

Doc Libby rocks.
Not just because she provides plenty of insight, but also because her perspective is (or at least, should be) a much needed reality check for those on boards that alternate between euphoria and "the sky is falling".
Great stuff.

maxwell reacted to ccgeneral in James Blackmon Jr.
http://www.indystar.com/story/recruiting-central/2014/01/28/james-blackmon-trevon-bluiett/4984543/
As we close in on the last few weeks of the regular season, I thought it might be a good time to put two of the state's most prolific scorers into historical context. Marion's James Blackmon Jr. and Park Tudor's Trevon Bluiett both cracked the career 2,000-point barrier recently and are the state's top two scorers this season. Blackmon Jr., a 6-3 Indiana recruit, is averaging 36.3 points through 11 games and Bluiett, a 6-5 Xavier signee, is averaging 38.8 points through 13 games. Using statistics compiled by Leigh Evans of HickoryHusker.com, those single-season averages would put Blackmon and Bluiett among the best of all-time: Highest scoring average for a season: 42.4 Phil Wills, Grass Creek 1956-57 38.9 Rusty Miller, Switz City 1974-75 *38.8 Trevon Bluiett, Park Tudor 2013-14 38.6 Michael Smith, Indiana Deaf 1993-94 38.4 Marion Pierce, Lewisville 1960-61 37.2 Dave Shepherd, Carmel 1969-70 37.2 Steve Alford, New Castle 1982-83 37.0 Kevin Jones Jr., Morton Memorial 2001-02 36.8 Brady Adkins, Morristown 1990-91 36.7 Larry Bullington, Marshall 1969-70 36.4 Mike Edwards, Greenfield 1968-69 *36.3 James Blackmon Jr., Marion 2013-14 Bluiett currently has 2,073 career points, which puts him 30th on the all-time list (three points ahead of 1969 Washington Mr. Basketball George McGinnis). Blackmon Jr. is right behind him in 34th place with 2,058 points. Both have a good chance of making the career top 10. Only two players – Fort Wayne Luers' Deshaun Thomas (3,018 points, third) in 2010 and Union Dugger's Brody Boyd (2,632 points, fourth) - have cracked the top 10 since 1992. Only three players – Carmel's Dave Shepherd (1,079 points in 1969-70), New Castle's Steve Alford (1,078 points in 1982-83) and Washington's McGinnnis (1,019 in 1968-69) – have scored more than 1,000 points in season. Only 12 players, including James Blackmon Sr. for Marion in 1982-83 (914 points), have scored more than 900 points. It would take some work, but both Bluiett and Blackmon Jr. are in range of those lofty numbers. Another impressive mark is Blackmon Jr.'s career scoring average of 27.8. That would rank fourth all-time behind only Pierce (32.1 for Lewisville, 1958-61), Thomas (29.9 for Luers, 2006-09) and Damon Bailey (28.5 for Bedford North Lawrence, 1987-90). Bluiett is just outside the top 10 in career scoring average at 22.8. And these two aren't just gunners, either. Blackmon Jr. is shooting 64 percent from the field and Bluiett 62 percent this season. Rather amazing numbers from two of the state's best all-time scorers. -

James Blackmon Jr now has 2,056 career points, 33rd in Indiana HS basketball history, closing fast on Steve Alford (2,116), others. #iubb
I just got on ihsaa.org and checked out the list. 15 points (1 game) away from passing George McGinnis. 78 points (3, possibly 2 games) from Shawn Kemp. 122 points (4 maybe 5 games) from Eric Gordon. Aaaand 1078 points (31 games (HA)) from Damon Bailey. Just some notable names to add there.

maxwell reacted to Stuhoo in (2014) PF Matt Cimino to GW
Then you may be a little unrealistic in this day and age, unless you want to be a pro developmental league team like Kentucky.
To me, the optimum recruit is a guy like Stan Robinson (or Will, or Vic). Good enough to be a key piece for a national championship team, but also at school long enough to get a college degree. With that comes a player who is far, far more productive during years three and four.
There are VERY few college basketball players that hang around long enough for a degree AND are immediate, instant impact mega-stars.
Balanced recruiting classes of players who will develop into something really good is the antidote.

Very nice read here including little snippets of info on CTC, Vic and Cody. Toward the end they mention the loss at Illinois and then the huge win at Ohio State when things didn't look so bright. Will our guys retain what worked with Penn ST & Wisky to provide a similar scenario with MSU?

http://zagsblog.com/articles/juwan-durham-is-the-real-deal/
Averaging 19.7 points, 11.8 rebounds and 6.8 blocks per game, Durham isn’t just a low post scorer. He’s a versatile big man with consistent range out to 17-18 feet. His 7-foot-3 wingspan helps on the defensive side to alter shots, and he is quick enough to guard smaller guards.
