Serious question have you ever coached basketball and then stopped? I have coached middle school basketball for over 10 years and this year had to give it up because of my sons select baseball schedule and every day I still think about coaching and how I can’t wait until my son gets in 5th grade so I can coach again. When you’re a coach you don’t just say oh I’m done and never doing it again unless you’re not a competitor and you hate it or you physically can’t do it anymore. You absolutely want back on the sideline and the itch gets bigger and bigger the further away you get.

What if there was a coach no one is talking about that has 1 losing season out of 13 years, only has three seasons where his record wasn’t .600 or higher, he’s 116-35 in his last 5 seasons, BUT hasn’t won a tournament game yet. Would you want him on the hot board as a backup plan?

My old high school coach was a video scout coordinator on Scott Drew’s staff and is now an assistant coach for one of his former top associate head coaches… I’ll text him tomorrow and see if he thinks Drew would ever leave Baylor. He still meets up with Drew every final 4 at the coaches conference

Yep exactly! I just wish sometimes a coach or in this case Stevens would come out and say I’m not interested in coaching at this time (if he actually isn’t interested) and I’m happy in Boston and want to stay. There is zero chance he’s oblivious to him being at the top of the candidate list.

Or what if that person in BOT is delivering a smoke screen so people don’t catch onto the Stevens stuff. Haha I know I know wishful thinking!

I just thought I remember seeing one of the mods say to completely stop talking about DV and that for sure hasn’t stopped regardless of heated or not. By now everyone knows Beards background. I just think other things can be discussed instead of debating whether a guy should or shouldn’t be hired for 10 straight days when it’s not even about basketball.

I just feel bad for the Mods. They’ve literally said at least 3-4 times minimum to stop talking about Beards DV etc yet people just don’t listen. That has to be frustrating honestly.

I get it and I think if IU didn’t screw up the last three out of four coaches and I guess some would consider Crean a failure as well then I’d be more inclined to be down for him. Personally I’d go Stevens then May then Drew.

The problem is he hasn’t proven he can recruit at a high level… yes he can coach but he also brought 4 players who he’s coached for years who are comfortable with him. If I knew he could successfully recruit then I totally agree. Winning in the MVC and getting players to buy into your offense is a lot easier to do in that conference… players in the P4 aren’t gonna be so easy to recruit because they know stats is what gets them to the league.
