  1. I optimistically think they will be better. Already have substantially more size, strength, and athleticism. Now if they all can play together and form a unit.
  2. Would be good to get back Bargessar. I thought she gave us great minutes the last few years, and while not really a threat her defense was really good, and more so the year before did make some big plays. She is fast and can get up the floor
  3. Going after overseas talent in the portal is probably a work around for not having enough funds since they do not receive near as much due to the visa restriction and the fact that it’s more complicated.
  4. I’m assuming Moore McNeil, Garzon, Striplin, and Lemondola all had some sort of NIL money. And I’d guess Parrish had a pretty decent deal. With all of them, where did the money that was allocated to them go?
  5. I think it would be just for playing time, a chance to be the star, and still being a in big conference which we all know how atrociously bad Purdue was last season, after underperforming the year before with several good players and mass transfer exodus
  6. Valyntyna didn’t to get play but got spot minutes in blowouts and was the only one on the court who could score. She showed up 4 days before the season started and didn’t didn’t get to play. But has the build and a heck of a shot. She might be the best dark horse they have. Sometimes the best gets are the ones you already have. Coming from a foreign country, no time to accumulate to a new language and a new world, without any time to go do it. Think she can be really good and wondered why all season lemondola, bargesseer, got minutes above her. Went to games and seen warmups she was automatic and is a basketball player
  7. Confused at why coach would actually turn down recruiting money?
  8. I think the first round all go to mid majors to get minutes and points. Maybe bottom level major conference programs and play most of the 40 minutes. Yarden might get to go to some place cool with her Role here as a freshman. Even yarden will not be a star at a program beyond Indiana. Too slow, too limited
  9. It’s all just so stupid. Men’s probably spent as much as anyone in the country last year and couldn’t manage making the tournament. The women’s team spent nothing of it im sure. They gave South Carolina all they wanted, which why does South Carolina have an unlimited budget to get players, we will never know. The football team became good and you know they didn’t spend Alabama or Georgia money.
  10. It’s a damn shame. But if they want to bolt however they see fit, I’ll criticize. I didn’t need to buy season tickets only knowing I could attend half of the games, nor did I need to go to many second hand last few years at twice the price. Yarden was a day one starter, did a lot of cool stuff for us. Also turned it over a crap ton, disappeared a lot, she’s still not even a Scalia skill level, who was a portal pick up. I’d say she’s not a Parrish talent, but she was kind of a shelf this year of herself. Injuries, something. Iu has no reporting and moren wont say anything. If you want to get yarden an open 3 it has a good chance to go in. If the defense decides to guard her it might be a turn over or air ball 3. Truly yardens best year was her freshman year when Mack and the gang gave her the open looks
  11. Gotta click on the bottom one to see it I think
  12. lol oh stop it. If you watch her shooting form and think that’s something that’s good, then to quote Bobby, you just don’t know basketball. It goes in. But if that’s a pure looking shot I must be Ray Charles.
  13. And I agree with you they probably can. And compared to most of the “powerhouses” Indiana should truly be able to “afford” them all whatever it might be. Reports say they took 5 million and burned it in a bonfire for the men’s to be below .500 in the big ten and not make the tournament. Very little transparency in NIL, one of the many things that needs to be changed. Can get more transparency from the Fab 5, Tarkanians running rebels, and the 87 mustangs.
  14. And it’s sad isn’t it? Top 5, 10 in the country in attendance, have basically nobody on the roster demanding “big checks” and can’t “afford” a 7.5 ppg game player. The things that make you shake your head.
  15. Welcome to IU. We will see what she can do. Does anyone remember that Bobby knight recruit, Ivan renko? Media went nuts, had him top 50, even came up with scouting reports. 1993. Bobby knight made him up. The women’s game is probably to that point today. Outside of the obvious not much press. Indiana was a one seed 2 years ago and the university and even local news reporting is still horrific. You learn more here on this message board.
  16. Ah the sun will come out tomorrow. not sure where yardens going, but if she wants a championship she’s going to be in the role she was her freshman year here as purely a role player. Kind of a system player. Tall but too weak and scrawny to really be a post player, and too slow, gangly to play the other positions. Has some tricky moves that awe you sometimes, good with her hands, but her feet do not do her any favors. Overall great at spot up from 3 but if you want to get down to it her shooting form is god awful and has a really slow release there too. Can do some cool short fadeaways sometimes.
  17. It’s all quite the conundrum. The stands are nearly empty at many of the top women’s programs. At one point this season Indiana was ranked 4th in the country in attendance, over doubling USC and UCLA. One the of the biggest and most storied home courts in all of basketball. Had as many nationally televised games as anyone. Hard for me to figure out why it doesn’t translate into a destination for portal players and recruits alike. Garzon is a big loss, but her numbers are also remarkably stagnate for her career. Shooting percentage has fell with every season. On the games where she was hitting it was amazing, but there were also many games where she was invisible.
  18. I think dnc only applies to coaches and staff, I thought I read it was another player on social media. I could be wrong on both also.
  19. Don’t see any negative in getting merkle, can score and rebound and has superior height and length. The twitter world is angry about her athleticism, but Betts isn’t an Olympic sprinter, and Mack wasn’t either. She’s a heck of a lot bigger than Mack. Lack of easy buckets on the block and finishing was a big problem this year, and led to the thorn in the side scoring droughts that cost us many games. Rebounds at a good clip, another big problem this year. Fills a need. I’d like to think she can perform better at Iu than Penn state.
  20. All those millions have done so well there so far, kind of like flushing it down the toilet.
  21. I don’t buy all of that. She absolutely does need to bring in some better recruits, better athletes. Clark’s last 2 years though we were 2-2 a buzzer beater from 3-1. We could beat them and did. Sometimes it comes to matchups. Would have you liked the chances better last year of playing Iowa in the tournament or losing to South Carolina with a 6-7 giant by 4?
  22. Dang this was fun earlier comments and interactions now it’s all just dead again lol. I do wish the culture could change some. I personally never watched a women’s game or until I casually turned on a an Indiana-Iowa game in 2022. I watched it and it was a lot of fun. Since then I’ve watched either on the 8 subscriptions you have to buy (exaggerating of course), attended several home and away games, tournament games when they were at home, and even got season tickets this year despite living over 2 hours away. It’s enjoyable basketball. I get men’s basketball is more popular, but Indiana men’s basketball has been mostly trash since they ran off Mike Davis. And anyone in their right mind that’s going to trash Davis off this comment, we at least seen a final four and a national championship. That 2002 team was pure basketball and Morens last several years reminded me some of that team. Crean had a few good years, but I was in school during a few of them and personally knew someone on the roster from my small Indiana school, a kid who had zero business anywhere near a d1 school let alone Iu. His dad was an adidas rep. Crean was dead to me the minute he got to be there for 4 years. He rarely played but it was principal for me, the guy was garbage and couldn’t have made any d1 roster in the country no matter how small. I loved playing basketball but had zero illusions I could ever play at any level beyond an open gym or park and had zero issues going toe to toe on the floor with said player. Indiana men’s have been a long way off for a long time. Jackson Davis gave a few years of making Indiana relevant, he was really good. But the women’s team have been really good, top 5 for a portion. Get support when they are hot but it fades as fast as it comes. I had my doubts at the beginning of the season, it was a rough start. But moren did make corrections and make it as good as it could be and made me a believer. Iowa was subpar this year still fills the stands. The new Indiana ticket policy my tickets were 40 rows up and many in the first 20 rows were open. she’s a good coach and could make this team a contender for years to come, and she wants to be here. We could be the level of a South Carolina and et all. You’ve seen the dorks that coach usc, ucla, South Carolina. Does Anyone really think they are better coaches than Moren? I don’t.
  23. Well here is my take. Pre portal I had guessed the lineup would have looked something like this. Shay/Beau/Garzon, a portal pickup at the 5 and 4, with caffey and maya receiving quality minutes. Caffey’s floor game is really solid. Garzon with another year of strength training can give you versatility at the 4 spot. I think a dark horse in this rotation could be Valentyna. A very late start to the season put her behind the 8 ball, especially being from overseas so terminology and other things are a factor, but it was easy to tell in mop up minutes that she has the build to play and a pure jumper. I expected wiseman, who has seemed to bulk up during the season to progress and battle for meister’s minutes. Meister and Lexi are at their ceiling in my opinion. I thank them for the contributions to the program and wish them luck. Lexi is a great defender, but it isn’t like her offense was going to magically come around. It doesn’t help your team when teams are willing to sag off of a guard by 5 feet at the 3 point line. Jules had some moments, but never really looked like she got it. I wish her the best as well, but she just looked like making videos and being the class clown was as important as anything. Women’s basketball outside of South Carolina and a select few have a narrow rotation, so as long as we can do due diligence in the portal and get a couple, and our incoming freshman who are rated as high as any we’ve ever had can play we will be just fine, and probably better than this season.
  24. I felt like she had a lot of potential, but never really lived up to any of it. Had some moments, a charge here, a good offensive play there, but was also mistake prone and looked like a deer in headlights more often than not. Wish her the best of luck in the future. It sounded like Beaumont was primed to make an impact and would have significantly cut into the few minutes she had this season. Where are you all getting your sources from on Twitter? And what were players unhappy about the way things were handled?
