  1. I saw on Facebook it was Odum. I agree about the Joey's. That is definitely not gong to happen.
  2. Plus I keep forgetting that Washington State is going to be a temporary Mountain West school until they figure out what to do with them and Oregon State. I wonder how large the NIL Purse is at Stanford. I cannot even fathom Stanford in the ACC. Horrendous.
  3. When I saw your post I looked up Smith. Makes you wonder how he didn't bring his Wazzu guard with him and keep the Stanford guard. Could he still be a factor where they turn down IU or is it already a done deal like @Chris007 says it is? I believe Chris007 but still makes you wonder why they didn't go to Stanford.
  4. I just watched the intro video of Matthew Graves at ISU. I will not go into detail, just a few bullets. just like I thought, he wants to be there a long time and finish his coaching career there The big question I had "yes we will recruit players to play the system we had this year" So far no home games next year out of conference, the high mid majors don't want to play us at home As of today only two players and one walk on, is the roster Easier to recruit when the word "Interim" is taken away Coach told him when he was hired 3 years ago "I want to leave this program in such a way that you can be the successor" (similar to that quote) His 12 total years at Butler taught him it was "people" that made the success of a basketball program He ended with a tease without mentioning names but one of his assistants is from that area, popular name, known by many His time at Southern Alabama should rightly so be reviewed but it taught him "how to fail forward". Very impressive intro interview on YouTube ... you will need to move the slider up to 24:29 mark to start the press conference.
  5. New coach at Stanford
  6. I agree with you but at the same time she IMO has a valid point. With 6 or 5 new players on the roster it will take time to learn how to play tougher as a team, learn everyone's game ie: where they want to ball passed to them, a cutback to the basket just by a look at each other, stuff like that. There will be a lot of moving pieces to get into one (a team) and in the past with Woodson asked about that, he comes up with answers like that. I see both points of view ... yours and hers.
  7. or .... "all we need to do is hit shots"
  8. I recommend contacting Joey Hart that played at Linton in 2023 and sat the UK bench in 2024, as a shooter and a bench player. He had an official visit last May, can shoot the lights out and at 6'5 jumps well. He is in the portal but I have not seen the schools that have contacted him if any. He would have the mentality to be a bench player and a shooter that could get hot when called upon.
  9. I agree 100%. I was surprised by his attitude. His Senior Night speech was the icing on the cake for me, yet I had written him off long before that.
  10. You know with the possibilities of players named that are a crystal ball confirmation to IU, I am not sure even Woodson could screw up a roster that has a good chance of happening. That is a scary thought. Like Trish mentioned, the B1G will be down but IMO adding Oregon who is always fast and athletic, UCLA, maybe they will not be that far down as a conference. USC and UW are question marks with new coaches. He will have NO excuses if the names mentioned are here next season and a first round exit would be a real disappointment. Yet good enough for another $1M/yr raise and a possible extension.
  11. That floor has to be a 'real' home court advantage at least for a while. There is a story behind it though and when Phil Knight owns the building he can do what he wants. The design was a memorial to his son that died on a hiking trip if I remember correctly.
  12. He was on the ADs list a long time before Monday. ADs ALWAYS have a list, for all sports. They don't come up with a list a few days before the job opens.
  13. Im a shooter and I want the ball in my hands all the time in my driveway, I don't share. Then I remember the coach says he doesn't have to run plays for me to shoot, not his job. I'll only get my shot on a fast break or when Ballo throws it back out to me. Malik won't because once he gets the ball he is going to the basket even on a 3-1 fast break to draw the foul. The rain has stopped here in "the tropics", I think I will go out and shoot some hoops, Mike might contact me when he is down here playing golf this summer. But to answer the question ... NO I am not coming to sit. For me "to cook" I need that basketball in my hands on the floor outside the 3 point line. I can't do s*** from the bench.
  14. "we have a lot of new players that need time to jell and all we have to do is hit shots"
  15. Honestly I don't know ... is it too late for players to enter the portal after these commitments are signed?
  16. The say the best pure shooter in the portal is the kid from Belmont. He is visiting Tennessee and another that I can't remember, UNC ??
  17. Run the same offense as the last three years YET two good guards that can create on their own, assist and I hear they can hit 3's on occasion. They are going to have to have the other 4 score because as good as Ballo is, he is not Ware on offense. I'll be glad to have him though. I remember watching AZ a few times last year and the little voice in my head was asking me "why don't we ever have a center like that at IU" ... Our answer will not arrive until March 2025.
  18. I haven't been there since December 2011 but for some fantastic Friday humor I am thinking about heading over to RuppRafters and see what all the excitement is about. LOL
  19. I think he is talking about the film that shows no matter who is on the floor, no matter how many stars they had in their ranking ... the coaching decisions are somewhat questionable. I bet 90% of this board agrees with you about upgrading the position or having a deeper bench, I do ... but it's the man that moves the pieces that is the problem. "We just need to hit shots" is not recruiting a shooter for next year, which will be a real upgrade since Ballo? will not be putting up the same numbers as Ware did last year. MR had better improve this summer on hitting a 3 without sitting or hesitating and be more mobile from outside. It will be interesting though to see how all the pieces full into this complex puzzle, including the sideline.
  20. BINGO ... we have a winner
  21. IF the guards from Wazzu and Stanford sign up, then Ballo from AZ this weekend ... this has his offense written all over it. I say that because the "pure" shooters as of this morning are all visiting other schools like Tennessee, UNC, Texas etc. I am NOT saying those two guards won't work out but it shows me that Woodson plans to run the same offense he has and sees the shot percentage increase by "we just need to hit shots". I agree with you "the only other way we address shooting is by recruiting over Galloway relegating him to the bench" .... But IMO Woodson will not do that. The handwriting is on the wall IF Rice and Carlyle commit.
  22. His brother Andrew also played at WRV and at Butler. Their uncle lead the state in scoring I think back in 1974. If not the leader was top two or three. Not bad for a town that has only a 4 way stop intersection 50 years later.
  23. Come back in March 2025 and talk to me.
  24. No, he played at WRV in Switz City.
