  1. I’d be interested in what he says too. As I said in another thread this was a very good date to “guess” — halfway through the tournament, after the NBA trade deadline, etc. Best possible guess. But the X factors broke differently. The women’s team plays a huge game today, and literally 3-4 of the top college candidates are still playing (no guarantee that’d be true 2 weeks ago). If he really does know something and does shift the date, I could certainly see why.
  2. He’s not negotiating right now and likely doesn’t actually expect a new deal right now. He was making sure it was known that he is a desirable coach and defraying attention from his disappointing tournament performance. It’s a long game about perception.
  3. I am sad that everyone is getting so agitated about a columnist literally saying “a third party to the second party told me that the intermediary of a first party might have reached out to see if there was interest but nothing happened and it’s HUGE NEWS!!!” I’m not complaining about the rumors or their implication. Just reading comprehension. It’s all there in the text. This stuff is being sourced fourth hand.
  4. In his column Doyel made it clear that it wasn't Dolson who reached out to Holtmann. I found that very interesting. No idea whether Dolson is actually using a proxy to reach out (wouldn't be shocked), but even so I'm not sure a proxy phone call should be considered high interest.
  5. Regardless of the merits, as a current in-conference P5 coach, Holtmann would be a 180-degree departure from our search thus far. I guess Matta could be the throughline if the interest in him was legit.
  6. Correct. It ebbs and flows and styles come and go. Speed itself is not a "style." It's what you do while you have the ball that defines a style. In the current NBA, what they do with the ball is move, pass, and look for an open jumper, hopefully a 3, and yes it tends to be fast. But it's not "fastest team wins."
  7. I think many are conflating "up tempo" (which many want because it's exciting) and "Modern/NBA-style" (which is what Dolson has stated he wants). "Modern" does not translate to fast, at least not entirely. In fact in the NBA offenses that are "too fast" like Mike D'Antoni's have tended to struggle. When I hear someone with real basketball knowledge talk about "NBA style," I hear shooting, 3-pointers, ball movement, and "small ball." Just because the NBA plays much faster than college does not mean that NBA style is "fast."
  8. Some guy in the Peegs premium chat has been saying they're going to announce *cough* something *cough* that day for literally two weeks--since Archie was let go. It coincides with the NBA trade deadline passing as well as the first couple of NCAA rounds being over, so It's not that wild of a guess. But he's been very specific about that date (and literally no one else has).
  9. Agree with this. I honestly won’t be surprised when Archie finds success at a smaller school. Systems work as long as you’re not trying to cram unique talents into some bland floor plan system. Translating “I can make a system work” into success with major talents is my biggest fear with hiring another mid major type. I do love the motion and the scheming in Moser’s design, though.
  10. Sorry can someone fill me in about what makes Oats “unclean”? I know the answers to the others but have not seen that about him. With him I always thought it was the giant buyout that was the nonstarter.
  11. The Rivals guy seems to be taking everything at face value. This is just basically a list of confirmed interviewees (to add to that botched Matta report). Not saying it's wrong at all, and reporting Just The Facts is definitely a good idea. But I'm not seeing a lot of insight that would indicate he knows anything beyond what we all do.
  12. Maybe "Twitter" needs to delete some more of his tweets...
  13. Woodson would be a head coach. Calbert, in my opinion, would not. So my posts aren’t the ones to use as an example.
  14. I think Calbert would be very successful at IU. More successful, probably, than Woodson. (Obviously that opinion is not based on coaching experience). But I'm not sure Calbert would be our head coach if hired.
  15. It’s an incredible long shot, but things to watch for would be: 1. Celtics trade everything, go into rebuild mode (maybe they get rid of coach next or coach walks) 2. Celtics make huge trade, try to save season (could be a sign BS is staying) 3. Celtics do nothing (might signal listless management which could push things either way) This is what people will try to read into, and there are some angles worth considering. But in my opinion, IF this absurd rumor is true, it has nothing to do with what trades the Celtics make. It has to do with BS refusing to leave the team before that pivotal date passes. Disclaimer: I do not believe any of this. But I can see why people would be interested.
  16. Wait why did Twitter remove a tweet of his? Anyone know what he’s referring to?
  17. I thought it was Brad Stevens who did that lol
  18. Beard’s buyout also drops bigly as of April 1, to $2 Million. https://texas.forums.rivals.com/threads/on-april-1st-chris-beards-buyout-drops-to-4-million.517128/ I had actually briefly forgotten about this but it’s a key piece of info.
  19. This is my favorite message board theory. Canary trap. I've seen it several times now! I am curious @Chris007 whether you were told literally "the first story was true" or that in fact the physical was true. Because I believe the very first report about Matta was that he wasn't interested, then the physical was a shocker.
  20. Based on the names that have leaked so far, I am not entirely sure that a current college-level head coach is the direction Dolson wants to go. That's hugely complicated by the tournament preventing contact of course, but it just hasn't been part of the conversation at all. Probably means it's guaranteed to happen!
  21. Flight logs are reliable, but what people read into them is not. There is a reason people get excited about a "flight from New York," for example: Lots of people live there, so it could be someone cool, and LOTS of flights come from there, so plenty of opportunity to pretend it's something interesting. But odds are it's just one of 10 flights from New York that will arrive this week. On the other hand, if you watch for true outliers, you might spy something. During the BS stuff, flights from Hanscom outside Boston were really interesting. Earlier this week, there was a direct flight from Bloomington to the Bahamas. Very rare. Neither of those things turned out to be useful, but at least they were unique.
  22. It’s spelled muscle. Typical Isayah fan.
  23. If even half of the things that seem to be true... are true... I would honestly like to see a movie about this ordeal. Could be a ton of exaggeration. Could be an actually true amazing story.
  24. I got a spam call from “Evansville” at the exact moment ISP tweeted. Hmmm.
