2023 General Recruiting Thread (BBall)
Notithatlives replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
1. Branden Bender is a straight idiot. Only a grace giving community would give him such a chance. Looks like he has embarrassed them a few times already. 2. Evangel Christian academy has been around a very long time. The school was in disrepair in 2008, economy went south, i thought the school was closing. Well, fast forward, their original property is across the interstate from one of the countries largest fedex hubs. I was driving up I-65 last month when I said, "what the heck? Where's evangel?" Uh fedex bought the property. Hence brand new gymnasiums, football fields etc. -
I've liked him ever since I watched that. Great kid. Rutgers has to hate to see him go. I wonder if he put his nose to the grind could he make it at the next level? Evidently he has been grinding in the classroom.

Good point. Top 20 all season. Have about 8 top 100 players. They should be happy they even made the tournament.

Unless your new school is Indiana and they don't like the optics of bringing in a kid you recruited at your previous school, ie McKinley Wright.

Candidate Thread: Becky Hammon (San Antonio Spurs Assistant)
Notithatlives replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Statistically what percentage of high school boys in America are being raised by their mother only? Maybe teams at a minimum should look at having more women around the program. Sadly many aren't used to going from having no father/male figure, to only having a father/male figure. "The second most common family arrangement is children living with a single mother, at 23 percent." census.gov -
Are we going to Address the BIG TEN Elephant in the room?
Notithatlives replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Remember the league and even coaches gloating about the 20 game schedule? They did some study based on the net and getting teams into the tournament and determined that statistically it would get more teams in. Now 3 years later, here we are, licking our self inflicted wounds, scratching our heads. I would be totally shocked if they back tracked on it though. Like Brad Stevens to IU shocked. -
Are we going to Address the BIG TEN Elephant in the room?
Notithatlives replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Exactly. Izzo and Bo are to blame for this trash over the last 20 years. Everyone was playing catch up to them and planning, preparing, and even recruiting to take the beating they were going to give you. -
Are you saying Phil Marteli is to blame for Michigan's recruiting success?
-
Some keep repeating this but his stats barely changed. He is finishing the season strong as a senior that has started almost every game in his career should.

Woodson could be the ceo type that gets the IU band back together???

UT would laugh at Beard's buyout and out bid IU. -
Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

Norfolk at has been getting tons of looks when I was watching. That Zag defense is going to get them beat. -
The only advice I take from Dickie V is how to fundraise.

I saw that. Just was wondering where Rabby said that. Mdiu28 says premium. Waiting for national leaks now. So much smoke my eyes hurt. -

Um, I think Brad Stevens is 44 years old. Many people's 2nd choice is 68. We would all love to hire the next guy that leads the program to greater heights for the next 20 years. That would be great. Brad would be 64 then. -

Anyone roll their eyes at Stevens in the huddle? -
Candidate Thread: Scott Drew (Baylor)
Notithatlives replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm really disappointed in the things a few posters that had access to Perea and what Doyle said about the whole situation. How do you stoop that low? Even if it was all on the assistant, Drew kept him on staff for 4 more years. He can coach. I like Bryce better as a personality and thought he would be the one to shoot for the stars as a coach and still may. -

This is woke 2021 Until someone can show me a few former players coming to his defense. This is still a stain that will follow him. Unless you are ok with only one or 2 black guys on the team like wisconsin or iowa, just understand what your ceiling is now. -

No one cares if that was the reason he was fired or not. That's not the point. The point is he said and only Shaqdiculious and Snarles Charkley were the only people to come to his defense. Not one former michigan player spoke up. Someone said Kevin love said he respected him but couldn't produce the sound bite or quote. And thought Garland said something positive but again, couldn't produce a quote. I'd be very happy if someone could. -
