Lawrence Frank -- the team president -- was banned for six months. He's an IU guy. Kind of Dusty May before Dusty May. Was a manager in the late 80s-early 90s under Knight. Went on to coach the Nets and Pistons. Was in one of my classes.

FYI -- the entire preseason AP Top 25. We beat six of these teams last season ...

Tommy John passed. Underwent a pioneering surgery that has since helped thousands of athletes -- across myriad sports -- to continue their careers. He was a pretty damn good pitcher, too. Won 288 games and finished with a 3.34 career ERA. Also went 6-3 with a 2.65 ERA in the postseason. And ... he was a Hoosier. (Not an IU Hoosier, but is from the state -- grew up in Terre Haute). RIP

First NFL TD -- sort of.

Poor 'Nando. The friggin' Raiders have absolutely no discipline -- six penalties in the first quarter and a half or so. Difficult to get into any sort of rhythm.

While trying to walk his comment back, McClellan essentially said it was a joke gone bad. But it clearly wasn't. He was trying to rally the Toiletmaker troops -- and failed miserably. It just makes him look like has no idea about the job he took. Don't mistake this for political banter, but it's like the day John Kerry spoke in Ohio and Michigan on the same day and lost track of where he was. While in Michigan, he said how much appreciation he had for Buckeye football. Yikes. Honestly, all McClellan had to do was disparage our basketball program -- and we'd have had to suck it up and take it. PU's last three NCAA appearances: national runner-up, Sweet 16, Elite Eight. We haven't sniffed anything like that in years. But to say IU doesn't win championships: Very cringe-worthy.

Man, Argentina just won't be denied. I'm kinda rooting for England -- no particular reason why -- but those Argentines are putting a truckload of pressure on. And sure enough, they score. 1-1 with 5 minutes left, plus stoppage time. I don't doubt Argentina has another one in them. Relentless.

I bet when Harry Kane did his pregame walk through for today's match against Norway, he went to the west end of the field and said, "Wow. This is where Fernando had that 12-yard, spinning touchdown run against Miami ..."
