So his reason was to play for a team that had an assistant coach who played with his dad. People on here say DG should pick IU because it would better prepare him for the NBA because it is a basketball school I agree with this assessment. However, we know DG is considering Vandy to stay close to family and home. My point is factors other than playing for a basketball school sometimes is more important. It's not hard to understand. You are correct. The point is he chose LSU over "basketball" schools. He could have went to one of those schools to develop him better for the NBA. Which seems to be the argument many on here are making for IU over Vandy with DG. BS chose LSU over a basketball school for completely different reasons. All true! I believe going to IU would be smarter for him in the long run. But again, sometimes family trumps all that. It's not difficult to understand. What you guys are doing are putting everyone in the same box. Every one has different wants and beliefs. Some things, like family, might be more imortant than what IU can bring to the table. I want DG to IU, but I just don't understand why people think it's stupid to remain close to home and family if that is what he wants. Some people want to be close to family. I'm not arguing that. Merely pointing some kids, especially those with better than average chances of going pro, let other factors weigh on his decision. In this case, it appears the factoris staying close to home so his parents cans see EVERY home game in person. I've said this before, some people love family and staying close to home is more important . Having said that, I think he chooses IU. But if he chooses Vanderbilt to be close to family, so be it.
