  1. Exactly this. I’m a long time lurker and very rare poster. i’m a huge IU fan that lives out of state so I have no information to contribute. This thread has jumped the shark though. I will be moving on until we actually hire a coach. I trust the A.D. and we should let him do his job and support him. For my parting advice, if there are posters that you don’t like, block them and don’t reply to them as tempting as it is. They tend to go away when they don’t get the attention they want. Go Hoosiers!
  2. I know I’m repeating what others have said, but I can’t imagine for one second that Dolson would talk to AAU coaches without: A. Being extremely confident that the Stevens thing is a done deal. B. Stevens knowledge/approval/direction He isn’t stupid and it makes no sense to do it without both points A & B being in place. The scheduling thing is also interesting to me because I asked a ways back how many people thought Stevens had a good working knowledge of IU’s roster and no one really responded. Getting games scheduled without a confirmed head coach indicates that we do have someone we expect and they seem to have a pretty good grip on what the program needs, what our personnel could look like, and on the college landscape in general.
  3. Nice win for Indiana. How many IU games do you think Brad Stevens has watched this year? It’s not like he doesn’t have an important busy job currently, but I would think if he is seriously entertaining the idea of coming, he would want to get a little bit of a feel for the team.
  4. Mole hunt. Dolson leaks info to the board that Stevens isn’t coming. Info leaks. Dolson knows the board isn’t trustworthy and who the leaker is. Stevens really coming all along. I’ve seen Mission Impossible!
  5. Check out his record before that at West Liberty. Crutch can coach- a former player of his is a good friend of mine. I know you weren’t seriously suggesting him as a candidate, but Hoosier fans would hate him- line change subs. He’s also pushing 70.
  6. Getting hammered at a bar when you are one of the highest profile people not to mention best paid state employees is a problem. I suppose you can disagree that this is problem drinking but personally I don’t want IU’s basketball coach intoxicated in public.
  7. I’m a teacher and coach- former student and player goes to Ole Miss of all places. He reached out this week to ask me if I thought IU would go for Beard. He said several things but a couple of interest: 1. Well known there that Beard is/has been interested in IU. 2. He still has an alcohol problem. Students see him hammered out and about regularly in Oxford.
  8. I canceled my star subscription. Can anyone give me a good synopsis?
  9. Classy statement, over the top for sure. It doesn’t take too many brain cells to figure out this isn’t really how it went down but that’s ok. I’m fIne with letting Woody save face. I know some of you are much more vindictive, but I just don’t have that in me. IU took the high road and I’m glad. statements like this often end with… “ A nationwide search for the new coach will begin immediately”. That was conspicuously absent in this glazing of Woody
  10. The number of people that can’t understand that these things take time is really hard for me to understand. There are plenty of contractual and other legal considerations. It’s not as simple as everyone seems to think. The idea that Scott Dolson is just sitting around and doing nothing is mind blowing to me. It will happen when it happens. Unfortunately the suspicion that others outside of the athletic department are part of the equation is likely correct. That’s why you have to proceed carefully. It’s going to happen just be patient.
  11. At this point, the only thing that matters to me is allowing Dolson to get on with his job and getting a replacement lined up ASAP. Personally, I feel no need to rehash the Woody era. I have already stated my preference for him to be removed immediately, but I don’t know that it really matters that much. The portal will open up quickly, and the new coach needs to be in place to do adequate portal evaluation and current player evaluation as it surely seems we will be replacing nearly our entire roster. Personally, there are very few players that I have any interest in returning, but the new coach might feel differently, and I am open to giving guys a second chance with proper coaching in a better system.
  12. Women with 8 made 3s in a row. We can only dream
  13. Found this on Bleacher Report. Similar to what others are saying, no idea on the reliability of the source. It .
  14. I was just about to post this exact same thing. The signs become clearer
  15. I know this is all in good fun but people do realize that Jerry Yeagley is not the IU soccer coach and hasn’t been for a decade?
  16. I truly cannot understand how anyone can be pissed at Ballo last night. He played hard. He still misses way too many free throws, but that’s who he is. People have been screaming at the guys all season and then when we do, we get mad at them, because they’re getting on a teammate for a terrible play. My biggest criticism all along has been why can’t everybody bring that fire every night? If you’re going to get mad at Paula, that’s what you should be mad about not for yelling at Rice. I would have been yelling at him too. There is a reason Rice didn’t play virtually the entire second half.
  17. I have missed a whole bunch of pages and someone probably said this already. But a guard can actually make three pointers and has more assists than turnovers. He has some skills, but I’m not convinced he’s as good as everyone thinks.
  18. The guys you went back with a new coach are clearly the guys who have some talent but have underachieve due to poor coaching. Banks, Bates, even Gunn to some degree all fall in that category. They are flourishing or at least performing way better than expectation based on what they did at IU. That is why for me I would like to see Mack and Rice return. I’m not saying I think they will. It’s just who I would like to have back. Cupps seems like an old-school Indiana type player, but I’m just not sure he is good enough. Same with Tucker and Carlyle. Just don’t think they are good enough. Reneau is the biggest question mark for me. Has some obvious talent, but his holes are so large. I’m not sure that I can see them getting fixed. changing culture and cleaning house is important, but I also know that having a roster that is entirely new presents some other challenges. Having a little continuity helps. Given how bad things have gotten, I’m not sure anybody will stay unless we overpay like we have been doing.
  19. Fair enough, but it seems that the consensus is Woody will be gone. Gloom and doom folks fear the worst, but I think it’s safe to say he won’t be back. There are only so many ways to say we want him fired in 1800 pages of a thread. We have two signees that I think we would like to keep. That leaves 11 scholarships available. I think it’s reasonable to start thinking about how many returning players do we actually want? To answer my own question, I think I would be fine with seeing Miles Rice return to see what he can do with proper coaching in a proper system. Oddly enough with all his faults I think I would actually be OK with run it back 1 more time with Mbako. He clearly has a bunch of issues, but he also clearly has some talent and you need some talent to win. I think a good coach could unlock some of that. The rest of the roster I am fine with leaving.
  20. I’ve only seen this discussed briefly here on this massive thread. Assuming Woody is gone, what players that are eligible to return would you like to see actually return? Not who you think might/will… who would you like? Are there any foundational pieces currently here? it seems to be pretty well documented that Sisley will come no matter what. The Bosnian? I know nothing about him, but his three-point shooting percentage alone having already been playing against grown men tells me that I think we would like to keep him. Others besides the 2 signees?
  21. This is correct. You are bringing someone in totally from the outside. Not gonna happen
  22. Hoosiers will lose this one. It hasn’t been a dumpster fire but they simply aren’t good enough to beat competent teams that can make 3s.
  23. I’m aware of the circumstances. Why IU? We didn’t have a long recruitment history with any of them necessarily that I’m aware of- maybe we did. In the end I’m guessing it came down to money and we offered the most. Tucker is the case that seems most pronounced to me. I think he has some promise as a player, but he didn’t fit a need that we had at all. We needed three point shooting and he isn’t that. If he did his homework, he should have been able to see that our offense is dog water for a player like him. If I was a player considering IU with Woody in charge it only makes sense from a basketball perspective if I am a big wanting touches or a pt guard to wants the ball in my hand all the time.
  24. Regarding star️s and players. There is totally a reason why Tucker, Mbako and Reneau were all available as late spring signees. Everyone else figured out they were overrated, and just wanted the bag. Mercenaries never work long term. There heart just isn’t in it. If Woody had spent more than five minutes working on recruiting he would’ve seen that too- maybe.
