  1. This is common practice. Has been for awhile. Lets put it this way...12 players per team. 30% of those players coming from families living below the poverty line. Traveling to say 6 or 7 tournaments. Transportation, food, and lodgings. Now, tell me where the shoe company goes? Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app
  2. I hope to hell that Ed Schilling is staying on top of this situation. This is the one that gives me that uneasy feeling. Feel good about TJD, but really want Brooks or Watford. Reservations about pulling Watford out of 'Bama. Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app
  3. Yeah we had 3 or 4. Johnson, Dave Bennett, Phil Benniger, Tim Brandt. Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app
  4. We used to compare Richie to Magic lol. 6'8 and could bring the ball the court, shoot, length for miles. Funny though, the best player at New Albany wouldn't play for the school team. He was a year ahead of Richie. This kid would only play intramural and park ball. Had Alford range. No sh*t! Kids name was Paul Malone I believe. Smooth stroke, about 6'3 or so. Would have loved to see him on the court. Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app
  5. Good interview with Pat. Listened this morning. Alot of props to one of my classmates and one of the best players ever out of New Albany Richie Johnson. Some nice insights on Romeo and the differences in how things are done today than in Pat's heyday. Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app
  6. Yeah, that's where all the cross country meets and our soccer team practiced for many a year! Also caught lots of bluegill in that lake. Even remember swimming there on the fake sandy beach lol! Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app
  7. Just to enlighten...New Albany, population about 35thousand. Besides golfer Fuzzy Zoeller, and Olympic swimmer Camille Wright there is very little the number of athletes that have brought attention to our community. Add in Edwin Hubble (former NAHS BB coach and Science teacher) of fame for being the namesake of the Hubble space telescope. Romeo was the first Mr. Basketball, 4X HS All-American, MaxPreps POY. U19 Team USA etc. That's just a few of his basketball accolades. As a young man and citizen of this city, he has went well and beyond as a fine representative and example to not only his peers but to all. Romeo not only developed his skill in the local gyms, but on the courys at Community Park. A place that I also spent many of my days playing ball. We are talking about a court at a local park, not a colosseum. He is most deserved of this honor and has brought great joy and a sense of pride to our city. 8. Yeah that's fine. But the problem was he didn't spend enough on the floor and it was early in the season when were struggling to find that 2nd and 3rd scorer. Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app
  9. Don't see Romeo staying 2 yrs. Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app
  10. If he gives us a comparable year as Max, would be a good get for us! Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app

  14. Paraphrased said that Romeo likes to handle the ball a little more than what would be expected playing with Garland. Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app

  22. One of my faves is Tuckers on State St. Good food, good prices, generous portions. Downtown there is a bunch of niche type of restaurants. River City Winery and Havana Blues are also high on my list. Dragon Kings Daughter a tapas style Chinese place people are always talking about. Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app
  23. Tonights program at NAHS will be introductions bu NAHS Athletic director Don Unruh, words from coach Jim Shannon, possibly Romeo's pastor, and Tim Langford. Following will be Romeo. There has been over 100 press passes issued gor tonights events. They will probably cap the audience at 5000 people. Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app
  24. NAHS will not allow anyone to line up until 'the yellow school buses have pulled away'! From Jim Shannon. Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app
