Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD

Dumb AF. Matta has zero connection to IU but gonna turn down HC position it take associate AD? Somebody’s getting catfished IMO. -

JFC no it’s not. At all. Dudes dad was a great NBA coach. Muss was an NBA coach. Muss actually played the f’ing game and has succeeded everywhere he’s been. Dumbest statement ever. No offense. -
Each school has its fair share of billionaires. So, each is more than capable of paying him whatever he wants. And not “more than IU could ever dream of”. More of whether we are ok to outbid them and get to that number first.

Seems silly - Knight was hired on the 27th. Not sure of the time it was announced, but feels more like catfishing than reality.

Terrible?!? Energy and charisma and took on an impossible job with IPFW and has now studied under a master for years. He may not be the right guy but he’s far from terrible.

I respectfully disagree. I think his comments prove he is not who we thought he was. He’s just another “say anything” type of guy. I’m of the opinion that we certainly did dodge a bullet. I wasn’t convinced he was going to come in an win big but did think he would come in and get kids to play hard and compete. The concept of Brad Stevens is what this program needed. The condescending guy at the presser is simply not who we thought he was. And of the back room rumors are accurate, he is definitely not who we thought he was. Just sayin’. Good news is he just made it easy for me to move on mentally. -

Quick name a current NBA coach and the team they coach. Unless you are a die hard NBA’er, I bet you got two: Pop and Brad. Maybe Bjorkman. Bet we can all name 20+ college coaches and their teams. That’s the problem. I thought Brad was above the “collecting a paycheck” mentality of the NBA. Clearly he wasn’t. I’m not judging him, just clearly misjudged him. Thought he was a love of the game type of guy. -

Wife’s from out that way...adjacent state. No lie detected. They have no self awareness either so that statement was even more bizarre. I read it and thought: no way BS uttered those words. Actually thought it was a parody at first. -

Been a looong time Bayern. I think he is a better coach than what you give him credit for but also think he is afraid of the challenge. Which, honestly, is not what the program needs. -

You either read my mind or my earlier post. Pretty funny coming from a guy who won’t win sh— in the next several years and is gonna get fired. -

I already said in an earlier post that, if all is true, he has shown his true colors. Duke is absolutely no different than IU but for a few Cherokee Parks calls and TV Teddy moments that allow themselves to pretend. Our championships were homegrown. Theirs were home cooked. He wants that?! Good for him...best of luck. -

They are both getting highly specialized science degrees with 100% job placement. Although I would have loved IU, there is always grad school. And the school truly needs a new president who values the state and the school. -

My kid is a Purdue athlete and my other kid may be a Kentucky athlete next year. At this stage, I’m just looking for a reason to be a fan somewhere else. If it weren’t so funny, I’d cry. -

My $.02....and moderately long. First of all, f** Miles Brand. He set this tone. Same goes for the BOT. Second, nobody knows ****. I’m once removed from a VERY VERY good friend of Dolsen. Very good. He knows absolutely nothing. They talk at least weekly and have for years. Nothing. We have been burned one too many times. Y’all know nothing and your sources don’t either. I hoped they did and believed, but once bitten, twice shy. Third, and I say this with the most measured response I can give, f** Brad. Assuming this all plays out as expected and as being reported. He will do absolute **** for the next 3-4 years. And then get fired. He will never be respected for his coaching acumen by the overpaid narcissists he babysits. We thought he LOVED basketball like us. And more important, we thought he lived and breathed Indiana basketball (state, not university). Clearly, he has different priorities than what we thought made him special. His choice and no grudge. We just misjudged. But one final comment. Any self respecting Hoosier who calls themselves a masshole and say they root for the patriots ain’t no Hoosier. Fuggem. Even if it’s just a diversion, that statement is disqualifying for so many reasons. Qualifier: my wife is a new englander and she readily admits how utterly insufferable those people are. Now, on with it. I’d be happy with Beard but I’m at the point where I think we have to take a flyer. Somebody who has a fire in their belly. Somebody who hates losing more than they love winning. And somebody who thinks the paycheck is just a bonus. Y’all prolly think I’m on crack, but I’m just gonna say it: needs to be Michael Lewis. Right personality and fiery AF. Same type of player as Archie but IU born and bred and more charismatic. And been there done that. Rant over. We got played again. Time to do the playing. -

Half the family tree, seemingly. I was on Peegs right around it being born out of IIRC (or something like that) and before it went to Rivals, I think. I started around ‘96 or so prolly. Memory is very fuzzy on the evolution there. I remember Gojko, Kurt Cloverdale, DCGeneral, McNutt76, Gerdis, Happy Goat, and a whole bunch of other peeps whose handles I only partially remember. The Hoosier diaspora is ready to be brought home...but only one coach can do that now. -

That’s exactly it. Blank stair. No emotion. Empty statement.

I feel Brad knows the mindset. I think we all have high expectations but not unrealistic. We want a clean program, good kids, tough nosed players. Archie acted like he owned the place and put a subpar team together who didn’t improve and didn’t play hard. Bad combination. True story: I saw him at St Elmo in the upstairs lounge right after he was announced. Hardly anybody there. I stopped on our way out. Apologized for interrupting him. Thanked him for taking the job and said we were tough but fair - but looked forward to many years with him at the helm. And wished him luck. His reaction let me know he was not going to be a good fit here. Deer in headlights.
