They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

Appreciate that info, but was that what you were looking to get clarification on? Or was this an extra tidbit on a Sunday Funday (especially for you) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Either someone who is very involved and just loves the sport and isn’t worried about the “look at me” part of this world anymore. Or it could be a group of people under that same premise. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

That Dolson was forced to hire Woodson after Stevens said no. That Woodson would not be hired by any other college basketball team if let go. That we’d be a lot better off in recruiting without him. Basically saying that the excuse of saving visits and no recruiting Wednesday sounds like a croc. His lack of presence in recruiting is not only hurting us with players, but with coaches in the state. Hes lost the fan base And in other words, has accused him of “program mismanagement”. I think I covered most of his comments since Friday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

All I know, is that if woody is retained, we might as well cancel our Peegs subscription if we got them. Rabby isn’t going to get ANY info from staff next year if it’s Woody still after his comments the last 48 hours Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

And to add 5) Our administration and its ineptitude to make the easy and correct decision when it comes to head basketball coaching decision. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I have faith in Dolson to make the right decision (crazy or not) and he may be in the "he aint coming back camp" and if he was, the right thing would be to tell the world the plan is to come back knowing he isnt. But sadly, and what worries me, is that it seem Quinn can easily ruin all that by just saying "no" -

Dont know if IUphilly from Peegs is on here, but wanted to cite his name for saying this because i am stealing this because i think he nails it on the head Some of these discussions on coaches seem a bit backward-looking. It’s like the guy is on trial for PAST coaching failures and we’re the jury deciding whether to punish or absolve. If you look at the history of coaches that get into these situations, the only relevant question seems to be “can he get out” and still meet the program’s expectations? Most of the historical data I’ve seen paints a none-too-happy picture for coaches who have both declining recruiting trajectory and a steep win-loss drop after the honeymoon ends. It’s why on X’s and Joes and other venues, I’ve always stressed how vital it is to keep recruiting momentum throughout the early years and at least keep a reasonable trend going on the court. The issue you run into is that the momentum that keeps building downward from losing and poor play simply builds on itself…and just adds more weight the further down you go, much like the physics of a rockslide. That may be the way Dolson has to frame it in his own head when discussing “the escape plan” with Woody. Consider the context: You’re a sub-100 KenPom squad. You’re going to lose several key pieces that will drop your baseline even further down. The question is: How are you going to make a roster jump equivalent to 100+ KenPom spots in 45 days of the portal (15 days less than last year after NCAA rule change) when you couldn’t keep the roster momentum steady with the benefit of a honeymoon and a window of 2 full years? I’m not suggesting there is “no way out”, but just given the history of how few coaches ever escape this scenario and how much portal success you’ll need to vault out of the building rockslide, the probabilities of a happy ending aren’t great as of today. -

That whole situation is messed up. Apparently Reneau was reluctant to foul because he had 4 and knew it, woody laid into him after the fact. Reneau said he had 4 to woody and then woody said he was yelling Gallo! Gallo!....whole situation is messed up -

Thank you for the answers. Now to double down on that, since this type of meeting happens regularly it seems, why should it even move the needle or pique our interest at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Rabby said “It’s not about record in the final few games, and in this specific instance, regularly scheduled meetings may be getting overblown” Regularly scheduled meetings? What are the chances this meeting was scheduled the day after not driving under a hour and half to recruit and right after a BoT meeting. Second question, anyone with knowledge, would an AD and head coach have regular scheduled meetings? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I pay for peegs and Trilly and come here. I would say I love the people here and in Trilly discord. Able to have good productive conversations with 99% of them and they are funny and good people at both places. Peegs anymore seems like a place to go if you’re totally depressed and want to join people in the pit of hell with you. And if you don’t agree with or follow their narrative, don’t you dare post anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I took it as, he’s got about 2 weeks to talk the money into firing Woodson. Because whether we win 1, 2 or 3 games, it shouldn’t matter one bit. But to the money and woody friends, it clearly does. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Say they did pull an amazing portal haul and somehow coached the team to where they were a final four contender. You would have zero 2025 recruits and then hope to have to do it all over again the year after. Playing the portal is good to add a missing piece or depth. Not good for full roster construction as we can probably all agree with. But Woody apparently knows better than us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
