UM Graduate Transfer Max Bielfeldt To IU
PointBlank replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I really want Max at IU, I believe the experience he would bring to the team would accelerate the development of Bryant and the others. I don't care if we are option A, B, C, D, etc., etc., I believe he is the type of player who will make the others around him much better especially since we are very green underneath the basket. TC will also be able to bring Max in and get quality minutes from him. I am sure no matter where Max ends up whether it was his first choice or third, he will embrace that program and give it his maximum effort and deliver positive minutes on the floor. -
Garrick Sherman: "All NCAA teams smoke weed."
PointBlank replied to incrediboy's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not all the players are dumb enough to get caught. Doesn't make it right. Sherman comes off as if he was high. -
Sendek had some success at ASU, and Bobby Hurley had success at Buffalo before taking over at ASU. I imagine he learned a little something about recruiting from Coach K. Hurley has the pedigree to succeed and draw recruits to ASU.

Doesn't this reach across to other UNC sports as well? Unless the NCAA has botched yet another investigation this has to involve other UNC sports programs as well. Something else I feel the NCAA should consider is the noncooperation of UNC during the first investigation and not being forthright during that initial investigation. They hammered IU for Sampson's hindrance and untruthfulness during the NCAA investigation into the basketball program.
-
The NCAA and UNC swept the first investigation under the rug. The NCAA had no choice but to go back and perform another investigation after the media got hold of damaging information making them look like the incompetents they are, and just as corrupt as many of the outlaw college programs they are charged in investigating.

Nate Sudfeld, top 3 QB prospect?
PointBlank replied to HoosierReb01's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I like Nate, but the people at Scout and the guy who wrote the article should have been drug tested along with DD and Hanner. -

Good post, this team is in need of a leader both on and off the court, and Bielfedt might be that guy. He has the intangibles that some of our current players are in need of developing. Obviously a team first type of player which are hard to come by at times. -
I do not think it takes a pair of gentlemens to make this call, the players made the call for themselves. I also believe the call might have come from above Crean's level or strongly suggested.
-
Hate to see it but had to be done due to their transgressions and to make a statement to the others within the program.

Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession
PointBlank replied to hyzy's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
After the DD incident last year Glass spoke with the team and the story goes he laid down the law to the team and he added much greater consequences would occur if there was another incident. Glass said he was positive he got through to the team. IMO, Glass and Crean will come off as a couple of Barney Fifes if they do not make some changes to the team - both carrying a gun with no ammo - all talk and there isn't an Andy to come to the rescue just a bunch of Otis the drunks. I do not like to see a player or players kicked off the team but at some point you have to let the team know you are not a pushover and there are severe consequences for repeated violations and not just some mere slap on the wrist penalty of missing exhibition games. You also have to let the team know they were warned in a clear manner and one or two players decided not to heed the warning and were thinking only of themselves and not the team. Obviously the extra running, the morning workouts and the double secret probation have all failed as discipline, and some of the players could care less about the team and IU, and how IU and the program is perceived by outsiders. Caveat - I realize DD was hospitalized at the time of the big speech to the team by Fred Glass, but something is telling me he received word. -

I would imagine the investigating officer may have detected the odor outside the building and subsequently narrowed it down to a specific room once inside the building. I believe the NCAA test year round. Dollars to donuts the team or certain team members were just recently tested which lead someone to believe they were in the clear to partake. -

Not sure how accurate this site is, but here is a link for such stats. You will see Yogi and others listed. Arrest is not accurate in regards to some, only citations were issued - still wrong. http://arrestnation.com/2015-stats/ -

No smoking, where did the odor come from, Bob Marley's ghost? Was it was just a mere coincidence DD's room was the room in which the odor was emanating from and he and Hanner were in the room together? The athletic program should have immediately subjected both parties to a drug test. If positive for Hanner - goodbye, even if not positive for Devin - goodbye for having the product in his possession. Maybe this type of behavior will stop if a couple of players are shown the door in lieu of the "alleged tough love" policy currently in place. -
Would anyone be open to having Everett Golson transfer in? He is likely to transfer to a much higher profile program but I feel he would be a difference maker in CW's offense.
-
Read where ND is blocking Golson from playing for anyone on their current 2015 schedule, reasonable in my opinion, but to block him from certain B1G teams not on their schedule is punitive.

I can honestly see how another person would pick us last due to our most recent and long term history. I agree Purdue should be ranked lower than IU and Purdue's last two seasons have been horrific. This particular article has IU one spot ahead of Purdue which isn't a very good endorsement of the IU program. Until we prove otherwise, some of the "professional prognosticators" will still look at IU as the doormat of the Big Ten program. As I mentioned in my previous post, I expect at least 7 wins out of IU this year and that will be far from being the doormat.
-
Not sure why so many get upset with someone's prognosis of the IU football program for the coming year. What type of benchmark have we given them to pick us any higher than where that person has selected us? Like many I expect IU to improve enough to make a bowl game this year but I can see why someone might select us to finish dead last due to our history. I expect at least 7 wins. Even with a healthy Sudfeld, the offense regressed last year. My hope is CW has learned from not having the backup QBs ready even if one was a true freshman. Other programs played true freshman QBs after experiencing an injury and some of those programs made it to bowl games. It was obvious Diamond was not given a package to run during practices in order to be prepared in the event the two ahead of him became injured. CW has to stop crossing his fingers and develop the backups. Even Covington looked loss and unprepared.

Agree, every team in the nation can play the old "IF" game.
-
I hate the DH, but after watching Price of the Reds manage, I wish we had the DH in order to simplify the game for him. Also, make the headhunters bat, unfortunately, even in the NL many of the headhunters are relief pitchers who never bat.
-
It doesn't appear the Cardinals ever get down and they have tremendous leadership throughout the organization. They also have ownership and management who almost always make solid decisions.

Reds - bad ownership + bad general manger + terrible manager = frustrated fans and players

Yogi Leaning towards leaving per multiple sources
PointBlank replied to BriscoeShoemaker's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yogi currently appears to be a rising commodity to an NBA team or two. His entourage has to weigh all the variables including if he returns to IU and if the team does not perform to expectations as the 2013/2014 season failed to meet. If another IU team does not live up to expectations under his on court leadership, I firmly believe this will be a huge detriment to his draft status for next year. Some will say he took the 2014/2015 team to the NCAA tournament, but how did that team perform under his leadership down the stretch and how weak of an out of conference schedule play in getting the team to the NCAA? I keep reading about how Bryant is the missing cog and Yogi and the team finally have a big man presence. Vonleh was a good big man and we know how that went, Yogi didn't like sharing the ball with the big man. Whether someone wants to acknowledge it or not, he is rising in the eyes of some NBA talent evaluators, and while skill plays a huge role in the evaluations so does potential, if Yogi returns and the IU team does not perform or meet expectations I believe his potential will take a major hit. I hope he returns and leads the team to a NCAA title, but if he decides to jump with both feet into the NBA draft, I can see where he and his camp are coming from. -

PointBlank replied to BriscoeShoemaker's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree Crean will shoulder much of the blame, but Yogi's ability to lead a talented team would have to be questioned as well. I think he can hurt his draft status a lot if he fails to lead the 2015/16 team in accordance to the talent he is surrounded by. Some pundits have him sitting in the 40 and up position in their mock drafts. -
ND Stadium has a good atmosphere, good not great tailgating and depending on who they play the crowd is good. The concourse under the stands is reminiscent of walking in a small outdated sewer system.
