  1. I really wanted Kelly, I think he would have done big things in Wilson's offense, especially if IU was successful in securing the UAB transfers. IU needs play makers. This wish was all predicated in Kelly maturing while playing at the JC level. Can't blame him for selecting Mississippi, they are one of the in programs at this time and he will have an opportunity to start there as well.

    Gary Andersen to Oregon State

The 59 - 0 beating obviously made it much more easy for Anderson to tuck his tail and run to OSU. Although OSU had a down year, not sure how much of a honeymoon Anderson will receive. Hard to understand how one of the premiere Big Ten programs loses a coach to a middling PAC-12 program.     Someone mentioned the assistant coaches pay, not unusual for coaches to fight hard to for additional pay for their assistants, and some times this can lead to not so good relationships with the athletic department administration. I was surprised to see where Wisconsin ranked in regards to assistant coaches pay in the Big Ten. I can see Anderson approaching Alverez about increasing his coaches salaries and Alverez mentioning the 59 - 0 loss.

I can root for three of the four, FSU resembles the inmate team from the Longest Yard more so than a college team. Fisher seems to be an enabler. The other schools have had issues, but Fisher appears to look the other way as long as it means his team might win a game or two.

If they expand to 8, then 9 through 12 will complain. I would prefer 8 than the current 4. If TCU and Baylor are left out, the B12 will be petitioning the NCAA to eliminate the 12 member conference rule in order to play a conference championship game, or they will have to expand to 12 or better like the rest of the Power 5. A Baylor and TCU conference championship game might have been the best game of the weekend if played.   Also, why do the committee members where suits and ties while watching the games?

This is a real head scratcher. Riley is in his 60s and has an average record as a head coach. Heard Bret Bielma turned Nebraska down.

I read an article about the kid today, he had some maturity issues upon his arrival on campus and a few individuals took him to the woodshed. He has apparently straightened out and is a better than 3.0 student. Have no idea what type of classes he is taking. He is a product of Ted Ginn Sr.   I would like to see the young man do well on Saturday. He is under severe pressure.

    11 Things I think I think

I think TC leaves a lot to be desired as a game coach, and too often will deflect blame. Many times after listening to TC after a loss, his initials could stand for Teflon Crean. If players are not operating within the system as designed, TC either needs to change the system because the players are incapable of operating within his system, or change players who will stay within the system. The last game fiasco is all on TC, but there have been other times a player or two decided to ad lib to the detriment of the team.    Also, how much do some of these players respect TC and the program. Actions speaks louder than words.   The season is young and I hope this group can produce much better results.

    11 Things I think I think

Glass has hooked his wagon to Wilson and Crean. Fred Glass has developed the bad habit of becoming an excuse maker for both programs and the coaches. Glass needs to become a more solid leader of the athletic program and stop being the constant cheerleader or Pollyanna. Glass needs a class on AD speak.   As much as I want TC to succeed, at times I feel he resembles Sybil, and the makeup (his responsibility) of the last two teams probably have driven him to appear that way. It comes down to the point Crean is responsible for the makeup of this team and placing the players on the floor who can optimize his on court schemes. If the current schemes are not working, it is his responsibility to go back to the drawing board and come up with successful schemes. The season is young and I am still optimistic he will pull something out of his hat. The players also need to toughen up which is a direct reflection on the coach.
  9. If Kelly were to commit and subsequently become the number one QB, do you think Sudfeld sticks around for his final year to carry a clipboard and signal in the offensive plays, or do you think he goes the Roberson route?

Both teams offenses and defenses struggle, both struggle to put points on the board, one team has lost five in a row, the other six in a row, the odds should favor the home team.

    Brian Knorr.

The defense has shown some improvement this year. How much of that improvement can be attributed to our opponents offense falling off as compared to last year and many of the teams have fallen off a lot offensively? Missouri has fallen off a great deal, as has PSU and Michigan. How many times this year, has the IU defense held their opponent under their average yards per game for offense or average amount of points scored per game? Many of the offenses we have played are ranked in the lower half of college football. Big Ten is down this year with the exception of a few schools.

    Glass's vote of confidence

I understand, IU has experienced losing seasons in 19 of the past 20 years. We likely hold the title for futility for a team from a major conference over the past 20 years. Not sure if next year will be better since we are probably losing Coleman.

    Glass's vote of confidence

I forgot to add, with committed recruits apparently looking around, Fred almost had to come out with the vote of confidence.
  14. Maybe Wilson will get involved with Virgil the QB from Texas which just had his offer pulled by Miss State. The kid committed to Miss State and was going to enroll early in January, and Mullen decided to pull the offer and wanted the kid to gray shirt. This player has too many quality offers to gray shirt.

I go with: 1. Alabama, 2. Oregon, 3. Miss State, TCU & Baylor as 4 and 4A. Florida State Criminals have had too many close calls against their less than stellar schedule.

(2015) ATH Titus Booker to Wisconsin

When one of IU's commits decides to take a visit to one of the known power schools and I still include PSU in that category, you have to be waiting for the other shoe to drop. Stevens attended a PSU game with 100K plus in attendance, Booker went up to Wisky with 80K plus in attendance, and Wisky put a beating on a ranked Nebraska team. The atmosphere around those programs is night and day as compared to IU's.    I have not checked the IU attendance figures for this year, but the three games I have attended appeared to be much less than the announced figure. Our tailgating is good, but our overall game atmosphere is lacking when compared to most of the other B1G programs. The stadium appears to be half full at times and I think this can play into a recruit's decision after visiting a Wisky, PSU and several other programs.   If there is a bright side, at least IU didn't lose the players to a program of equal of lesser status. It does stink to lose them to a couple of other B1G programs.
  17. Not me, he is cut from the same cloth as Jimbo Fisher. As much as I like winning, I would rather have a program led by a coach who will instill discipline and demonstrate to the players there are consequences for terrible behavior and not being an enabler and rewarding bad behavior.

Whats the buyout on Wilsons contract?

Cutliffe deserved the extra time to turn around the dismal Duke program he inherited.

Whats the buyout on Wilsons contract?

     Duke: 2000, 0 - 11 2001, 0 - 11 2002, 2 - 10 2003, 4 - 8 2004, 2 - 9 2005, 1 - 10 2006, 0 - 12 2007, 1 - 11   Cutliff took over a Duke football program which was in a much more terrible condition than the IU program Wilson inherited.
  21. Jameis Winston and his FSU handlers are the main reason why I hate college football at times. The NCAA appears to stick their collective heads in the sand when it comes to certain players and teams. Hopefully, the North Carolina mess will awaken the NCAA and encourage them to pursue these programs and miscreants in a more arduous manner , but I doubt it.

    NO MORE B.S., FIRE WILSON!

I think it comes down to Coach Wilson's lack of people skills.

    NO MORE B.S., FIRE WILSON!

Cutliffe took over a Duke program which was much worse than the program Wilson inherited at IU. From the 2000 through 2007 seasons, Duke had 3 win less seasons, 2 seasons with only 1 win, 2 seasons with only 2 wins, and a four win season. Cutliffe took over in 2008. At the time, Duke was the worse major football program in college football, and while IU was bad, they were no where close to being on the same lowly level Duke was prior to Cutliffe. Had Wilson taken over a similar program, I believe people would have more patience.

IU vs PSU Post Game Thread

I think Wilson and company have failed miserably in regards to the offensive game plan. I understand the limited offense the first couple of games, but by this time, they should have come up with some better options. PSU just placed a huge X on Coleman and shut the offensive game down. I might have missed it, but how often have Roberts and Coleman been in the backfield together since Nate's injury. It might at least mix things up a little and not allow the opponent to just make Coleman a dead man walking.   Two bad teams today (PSU does have a good defense), Hackenberg has not lived up to his hype. IU defense looked good, but I think PSU's inept offense had a lot to do with it. Hackenberg makes a lot of bad decisions. PSU is also one of the lower scoring teams in the nation. They are averaging 7 point less a game than they did last year.

    Game 3: SMU question

I do not think TC will start either player in the SMU game. I feel he will reward and show respect to the players who have remained solid citizens and represented IU in the manner which is expected, and who haven't managed to fail multiple drug tests. He and IU are already taking heat for a perceived light punishment. I see one or both entering somewhere around the 10:00 minute mark of the first half.  Stan might not play in the first half since he already has at least three strikes. Holt, I have no idea.
