Lewis a great on court coach, with questionable recruiting chops. So if the role we are replacing is the on court coach primarily, that's probably when you bring him in. That's not this year.

2026-27 Roster/Portal/how to fix the roster?
newcastle12 replied to Asha’man's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Have you watched him? He's a great athlete and gets to the rim when he wants. You think that wouldn't have helped this year? -
He's literally no different than what we have.

2026-27 Roster/Portal/how to fix the roster?

They had 7 million dollars last year, they got 10 or 11 this year. This year 5 of it came from Revenue share, which means there are sizeable donors who withheld NIL this year, they actually had LESS money if you adjust to the revenue share inflation. This is the home of the Kelly School, with the largest living alumni base. The money is there. So Steve Ferguson can suck it. His buddy sucked. He made us hire him. You don't get to pout and withhold money. -

We need to spend 20 million dollars. that's the plan. like the big boys do. Tell Ferguson to get over it. -
Which Rim Protector and length guy that could play at the Power 5 level was coming here in the first year of a complete over haul. You can't say "should have a got a guy like this" It was free agency. Who was the guy? And if he was that good why try here?

God what a sophie's choice that you have to choose between having Dorn/Miles/Sisley on the court in one spot in major minutes. Wish DD could pick which one would be better help each match up though. Seems to have picked wrong the last two months.

Bracketology and Team Resumes
newcastle12 replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Exactly 5 times in the the 15 years that it's existed has a team went as far as the 16 and only 2 have ever went farther than that. So no that's not accurate. -
Bracketology and Team Resumes

You are absolutely correct. The expanded field only has allowed for back half of a major conference and under achieving teams to get in to no real gain. The "First Four" games aren't watched, nobody cares enough to include them in the brackets they fill out which is one of the bigger draws of march. We didn't need whatever Indiana/Syracse/USC/Auburn gets in the field that will lose in the first 4, or first round. -
His family didn't want him to take the job, and he was offered the job this year and declined.

What has possibly given you the impression May wanted to be here?

Why is this narrative about Devries not being a good in game coach all over, does anyone actually watch the games? There are pretty regular adjustments to the actions depending on how they are getting defended. They pretty regularly have good action on out of bounds plays. They get wide open shots a lot. Not sure how he's supposed to scheme around guys missing shots, and being so athletic they get blocked at the rim every shot when they make the right reads and go to the hole. I have issues with some of their late game execution against the press a few times this year. But other than that, the guy can coach if you actually know what you are looking at. It's pretty refreshing watching a modern skilled offense.

Devries was the young and up and coming coaching candidate with the slick modern offense. His coaching adjustments are fine, so the guy can coach. So your plan is to do the same thing again for the next hire? So you go with Schertz next time and hope it's different? That's your plan? Because obviously the next plan should be getting a real power conference experienced coach and none of them wanted to come last time.

We are doing all that in football now, and we aren't spending in the top 20 there either in the most important part.
-
Did it really comparatively? This does not seem like we are spending top 20 money to me. I see a lot of teams that have a lot better rosters, and I know the rumors over what a lot of those kids are making. Our highest is somewhere near 2 million.
-
Who are you hiring that was willing to come when the job was open a year ago?
-
You are calling this roster a fast sports car? This roster is your dad's lime green El Camino. The roster gets blocked at the rim when they make the right reads, and they literally missed open shots for 20 minutes in the second half.
