Thomas Bryant and Emmitt Holt cited for illegal alcohol posession
jayben00 replied to swatford's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Well, it has been a while since I last blurbed, but these are the times that try mens' souls. I only chose the above post to quote because I was surprised to see Chris Carter had an account on this site, or else, at least, his recently retracted mentality still thrives. It was only after reading a few more posts (of tenured members I have enjoyed reading in the past) that I became painfully aware this incident has scared the bejesus out of many of the IU faithful. There obviously is a lot of whistling past the graveyard going on. I do not pretend to think my commentary of this sitch-e-a-tion commands anything of the nature of "it's them or me", but my craw is full and these last couple of years of IU player antics are thoroughly stuck there. I "personally" (no claim to include others) feel I have reached that point of finality where if these TWO stay, I've seen enough; I am gone (this forum, Peegs, the tube). I would much rather see IU finish in the middle of the pack than see a championship built on their inclusion. An inclusion that would put the IU program in that cesspool of other notorious (W's at any cost) programs. It would sicken me to even hear a CTC spin on special circumstances that would allow them to remain on the team. I was appalled when IU arena fans booed CTC's decisions during games. But, if I was there and these two suit up and enter a game, I would be leading the chorus of Bronx cheers. ( I know this is contradictory because I would have already departed the fold - I'm just sayin'. After Emmet Holt's contrite and apologetic display after the Devin Davis incident, to this soon be involved in this situation in the manner described (by media/law enforcement) is utterly shameful and inexcusable. I do not care if every member of the B police force was born in West Lafayette; they were doing what they are supposed to do. Contrite and apologetic just doesn't fly "after the fact" when standing before the judge and it is your only defense. Especially goes to the tune, 1st time shame on you, 2nd time shame on me. What a sham he displayed, if not the most aggravated case of memory loss ever visioned. Thomas Bryant, my-oh-my, what an utter lack of focus. This guy has his eye on the prize (NBA)? - I think not. Excuse me, but do no not spin this as the 1st time incident therefore he should be placed on parole and resume his place on the team. He was fully aware of past history during his recruitment and mommy even addressed it at the time. Being friends with Emmet, I am confident he was fully appraised of what transpired and came down last year. All this speaks to why he was probably not rated 5 star. Unanswered questions are, (1) Did other team members know what was going on with these two and did nothing?, and (2), where was the upper class leadership? - yes, you are babysitters -

Sad state of affairs at NC. So, what program is next?

Stan and Troy suspended for failed drug tests..
jayben00 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It is truly a shame and major "lack of focus" when drug/alcohol use is found among players. Use can be attributed to either entertainment value or escapism. If that's the best you can do for entertainment, you are missing a whole lot of what this world offers and a review of your friends and their influence is in order. If it is used to escape from the pressures and responsibilities of your work (in this case BB), you had better reevaluate whether you are in over your head or else buckle up to what is required of you and face the task head-on. Granted, it is easier said then done. I have always been skeptical of "after the fact" apologies, but I am neither a fan of zero tolerance policies. I would really hate to see Stan Robinson's tenure at IU end, but he must be aware he is on the cusp of being let go. Looming questions arise: Do the states where marijuana is now legal become the haven for drug use disbanded players? Will legal marijuana states have an impact on the recruitment of high school players? How do school administrations apply player use policies in these states?, and most of all, "What will be the effect of performance on the court at these institutions?" -

Put some blush on those cheekbones and we might have ourselves a tall Aaron Craft. -

back in the day, beat Kaintuck and sweep the farmers (need I delineate?) constituted a fulfilling season, everything else was icing on the cake! -
Geez, old doober here that still loves this last regular season. Yes, post season play needs adjustment - can be done! Again, RH needs to Shrink-up. LS like Metta World (that supreme sage with great Pacer twitter advice) has Extreme Intensity and Skill running in those veins; living on the edge is baggage that comes with this intensity. There is too much Kravitz imitation showing up here. Taking a big chunk out of this team would be a setback that would have to playout for the next few years. As for speculating on potential trades, I suggest a new thread entitled, Pacer Pipe Dreams I understand the disenchantment with ET, but Scola, my oh my, at least one more year. Where is Dalton when you need him/her? Should be here whining about the whiners.

Geez, major I knew you knew
-
Right on! LS cannot be defined by the antics in those last few games; this season's body of work proves his ability. He did man-up in his postgame instagram message. I believe he will learn from this season and put it to use next season. Pacers would be doing themselves a disservice in moving him. But, maybe it's time to move up a notch in the point guard department, and yes, get RH a shrink.

Well, it's nice to see the Mutual Admiration Society is back in session. I know, I know I can be annoying also. But let it dangle and someone will stomp on it - it is the nature of the beast (forum threads)

What kind of "guarantee" are you proposing? Even though I don't plan on collecting!
-
Me too! Antics such as this diverts and lessens the apprehension others (RH?) on the team may be experiencing. With tunnel vision, one might define him as a whack job, but I see it as an individual who is not intimidated by the big show and is committed to enjoying his work and showing teammates there is nothing to fear. Have fun doing it and the game comes easy!
