I’m actually somewhat surprised it’s considered quite so outlandish to explore Turgeon. Does no one realize Mark was co-B1G champ right before covid wrecked all of his momentum? That was not that long ago.

I don’t work for a search firm and don’t know anyone who does, either. I haven’t said that, someone else did. Like I said, just a random personal connection. look, again, I don’t take offense and sort of realize now that sharing was probably a dumb idea.

Look guys I don’t blame you a second for the initial reaction and take no offense at your skepticism. And I will say it’s not like I’m in the room for these convos or that mark or the IU AD or anyone directly involved in these conversations has told me this stuff firsthand. Just thought it’d be of interest that this is what I’ve been told by being indirectly connected to this specific direction of the process. And if you take a breath and think about it from a 90,000 foot view, it actually does make some sense in my opinion.

No, like I said, connection is via a mark connection specifically. And look everyone, I know mark may not excite a lot of the base the way others might. But he’s an accomplished college coach and those aren’t easy to find, and again there’s some feeling it’s a good fit from an intangibles perspective.

I can’t speak to other aspects of the process because I don’t know. What I do know is there’s nothing about the nature of the pursuit that would suggest to me they think that some Plan A or B is imminent or likely.

Obviously not going into specifics but it would be REALLY weird if they were exploring like they’re exploring and had someone they considered a likely hire right now

I suppose that’s sort of true but it would also make for a very weird scenario where they’re talking to at least one prospective hire despite having a deal in place? Doesn’t make much sense right?

I can tell you at a minimum there’s no deal for anyone right now.

Exactly. And there are some on both sides who believe the intangibles/“fit” is there for both parties.

Why so? I’m not so sure…
