He is similar to Woodson in that no one, college or pro, has been clamoring for him to be their coach. Did UK or UL court him? Shoot, any other school for that matter? If Turgeon is even remotely close to being a candidate, the search has gone off the rails badly. I would be stunned if, with all the NIL resources and apparent salary possibilities at our disposal, no one better could be had.

He’s seems to be very sensitive. Always talking about the impact of the fans on players and coaches. Methinks he would have had a tough time here during the Knight years.

“Vetting” would probably be in the form of contacting agents (Drew/Otz/etc) and finding out if interested? How much money would it take? Other wants? Taking that info to find out who serious candidates would be. Just my guess

Cronin just isn’t a fit IMO. Personality is abrasive (can’t imagine Dolson would enjoy that in the athletic office everyday), he whines a lot, UCLA fans don’t show up to watch his teams. Positive would be I am sure UCLA wouldn’t be too sad to see him leave, so might get a negotiated deal on the buyout. But guys like him will wear on you. And his personality isn’t going to change just by coming here. I have heard that he was very interested in the Louisville job last season and they passed. Having said that….I’ll take him anytime over Brad Brownell

It is true. Crean believed that actually helped with game preparation in that you can never plan on things going a certain way and you had to be flexible.

I am with you. Some of these folks….I have no idea who they think IU is right now. In many ways this is an insufferable fan base. Just not tuned into any kind of reality IMO.

There was no way they were going to fire a minority alum after 3 years, who had gone to the NCAA tournament twice, after having given Archie 4 years with no tournament. Would have setup the school for a racial discrimination lawsuit most likely.

Just curious, had you heard anything prior to the statement from Stevens?? Were you given any indication that “we had our guy”?
