If you go by DeVries’ comments at the press conference, I’d venture to guess he’s been the choice for awhile now

Save a Brad Stevens hire, no one is going to unite this fan base or win the press conference. Bitching has become so much of some IU fans identity over the past 10 years they don’t know what to do with themselves without having something to be negative about. The program has not come close to the success all of us would like to see in a long time, but how you go about conducting yourself and behavior is a choice. If it is DeVries, I will support him until or unless he gives us reason not to. Whomever the hire is was vetted and the product of what I can only assume was a comprehensive process and search. Only 1 thing will unite fans going forward and that is to win.

Was it confirmed he met with Iowa yesterday or was that just internet rumor?

That and they have a WVU guy on that doesn’t think it makes sense that DeVries would leave after 1 year to go to Iowa as he knew it would likely be open now when he left Drake last season. Also they all think that Iowa isn’t necessarily a better job than WVU

Curry Sage Spaces tonight says he’s hearing McCollum met with Iowa this weekend and couldn’t agree to terms because of NIL but he may end up taking it anyway. Sounds like in general the NIL situation for men’s basketball is a mess at Iowa. Brownell to IU is out. Curry seems to think it is either DeVries or a higher caliber (Stevens/May/Wade) for IU. He doesn’t seem certain at all…just trying to connect dots. “Inclinations” as he called it. He has a trusted sources that it’s not McCollum, Brownell or McDermott for IU but it is done. If not DeVries….he thinks it’s someone “really f*cking big”

Really doesn’t know where IU will go with their search. Doesn’t think it’ll be Otzelberger. He thinks Collins is ripe to leave after the season and might be a candidate for IU, as well as Villanova and Virginia. Spaces is still ongoing

Yeah I’ve listened to Todd on Coyle’s show and I don’t think he is realistic about the IU job opening.

That is for sure my feeling. While Goodman can be smug about it, I don’t doubt his information is accurate. I am as diehard of a IU fan as they come, but I see similarities to Notre Dame football. They always thought they had Bob Stoops or Urban Meyer lined up and lo and behold would hire Tyrone Willingham, Bob David or Charlie Weis . Some of the names thrown out now just boggle my mind. Collins, Brownell, Schertz, etc. For the love…..
