He turns the ball over way more than he creates assists. 6% differential there. Goode may not pass well but he doesn’t turn it over at an high percentage. Offensively he is a train wreck. Passes on jumpers. Scared to shoot. Can’t have that on offense. Reed and Alexis will be more on cuts than our guards. He isn’t a catch or shoot or a come off screen guard. Essentially he is useless on offense. Kid is a 12th or 13th bench player on a good team while Goode will most likely see the rotation most likely as a backup.

Why. Just want to hear the reason. I have heard some insanely dumb reasons.

I just don’t get bringing him back. Understand the politics of it but Jesus if he is playing we suck. I don’t understand the logic of getting a guy that just doesn’t want to get a job over a developmental player. Goode I would like back as he played 20 mpg for an elite 8 team and his shooting would be a plus in DeVries system.

Our best year during his tenure was when he played in 11 games and 2 mpg.

Asking price was too large for what we wanted and we moved on. Alexis had higher block and rebounding percentages.

Kenpom had them ranked 85th preseason on defense and they finished 15th on defense at the end. I mean he would have won 20+ games if his son didn’t get injured as they had the majority of their Q1 wins with him starting at the beginning. He increased Javon Smalls PER by 6. There are a lot of positives if you think about it.

ACC was trash

He averaged 19 mpg and during the tourney he averaged 11 mpg. Again last year with a top 15 D he had a more offensive 5 and a defensive backup. He is doing that again I believe. Alexis had a higher block and rebounding percentage than Federiko. Alexis also was significantly better than Babo at the mid major level.

There is a lot of insanity happening right now. Gonzaga is not looking good. I think we got good value based on market prices and how astronomical it is. In addition, there have been kids who have signed but are still shopping themselves around. None of our kids but others.

MSU being Mississippi St

We were at 1 million and there was one team that countered us at the end for it to raise so I am assuming that was MSU.

Alexis is a guess. One number we haven’t seen yet. I am just going off the outrageous market as it is right now. For example we were told we were the highest bidder for Conerway at that price.

There are a lot of teams that will be interesting to see how they look after all this. We are one of them. I think offensively we will be perfectly fine and I think DeVries has historically shown he doesn’t need height for his bigs for defense. Personally I don’t think we will be sweating it out. Probably be ranked 30-40 at the beginning of the season and if we finish there we won’t be sweating. I think our defense numbers will improve thoughout the season. However that means jack. Prove it.

Well yeah. The big market is insane. The Washington kid who was a top 50 2025 recruit got passed on by SJ and KSU because his ask is insane now. Washington was going to pay him 7 figures.

Ugo got 1.5 million. What bang for your buck are you getting? Apparently you thought Baba was that and he ain’t. He is not getting 1.5 million from any team right now. FF is wanting 2.5 million and he is struggling with that. That’s what better players got. The market is crap man.

They will get Chinyelu back and when Alexis got hurt he lost his back up spot to Handlogten who is back as well. His is a 5 not a 4. They let Aberdeen go as well.

And Baba isn’t that. He is a worse version of Reed Bailey that blocks better. Doesn’t rebound better a whole lot. As was said in another place, most of the big time bigs knew where they were going before entering the portal. Alexis has a higher rebounding percentage and his block percentage was double what Baba was at the mid major route. Sometimes height isn’t everything.

So Indiana was supposed to pay for a guy who sucked so bad at FSU that he had an average PER of 11 for a big? Which sucks really bad. IU wasn’t the only program balking at that price and now he is talking about going back to FAU. He didn’t even have a higher rebounding percentage than Alexis and had a similar block percentage as Alexis (at Florida) at a mid major.

Think it was 1.5 million but most teams don’t think he is a starter. Problem was some teams overpaid. For example Ugo for 1.5 million from Virginia and he hasn’t done anything. Baba isn’t that great when you look at his stats and compare it with others. If you paid that for Bailey, why would you pay that for someone statistically worse than Bailey and is worse in rebounding and defense than Alexis? In addition, Alexis wasn’t great at p5 before and people don’t think he has improved that much moving down.

Didn’t want to pay 2.5 million for FF and Baba didn’t get want he wanted either from any school. He may go back to midmajor. Sometimes what people think don’t fit. It’s moneyball essentially.

DeVries - 2 million Wilkerson - 2 million Bailey 1.5 million Conerway - 1.25 million Dorn - 750,000 to 1 million Miles - 600,000 Drake - 400,000 Alexis - 1 million Enright - 600,000 Sisley - 400,000 Harris - 500,000 Pretty we spent 10-11 million and not including Goode. Kentucky offered Wilkerson that much for their starting SG role. MSU was going hard after Conerway. Every school would take DeVries. Bailey committed to IU over Texas and Kentucky. Alexis a solid backup big. Enright is a solid backup guard. The biggest questions are Dorn, Miles, Drake, Harris and Sisley and we just hope one fills a starting role and backup role. Drama much.

Harris is young and grew from 6’2” his frosh year to 6’8” by his senior season. Lots of growth there in a short time. Has a good frosh season so for balancing out the classes it is a good pickup.
