We’ll probably lose at NW, but beat a similarly flawed Maryland team at home. There will be some road beat downs along the way but there’s a path to 10-11 conference wins and a quick tourney exit. After that, things will start moving. I’m going to try to stay outta this thread until something is actually announced by the school.

The noise is why Crean gushed “It’s Indiana, it’s Indiana” from day one. If we as a fanbase didn’t bring the noise after what we’ve seen these last 8 years then just disband the program now. We aren’t expecting Banners. Just get us into this expanded tournament most years and every 3-4 years we should be a top 4 seed. There’s around 80 P5 teams? With our history, resources, and love for basketball in this state we should be consistently among the top half of that 80. We should not be having 8 year periods like we just did—especially in this new era of transfer/NIL

It was rumored Pearl wanted this gig last cycle. He openly gushed about our fanbase in a press conference just last year!! There are myriad reasons why a guy might not uproot his family and take this job. Way down the list, for the vast majority of coaches, is “noise”. You can keep highlighting it in every other post but that doesn’t suddenly make it a real consideration for people. In fact, it’s more likely to motivate someone to take this job. Now stop responding to me. As you put it eloquently earlier IDGAF what you think.

Some fans here will have you believe this job becomes undesirable to some because of the supposed noise. Because of the desire to win and a remarkable fanbase in terms of energy, knowledge, and scope. Any coach worth their salt (and whose family approves, etc) wants this gig because winning here makes you a King. No coach worth having is turned off by the supposed noise, rather they are motivated by it, they embrace it—like Pope at UK.

I’ll answer this and then be done responding to him or questions on his posts. The first one might be me reading too much into it. But when you consider the source, “players quit on their coach” was taken by me to continue to shift blame away from CMW. Not to be pedantic, but the words literally are putting the active verbiage of quitting on the players. I take issue with the repeated highlighting of IUBB “noise”. I find it insulting to what’s been a consistently patient and knowledgeable fanbase. We’ve given every previous coach ample time to get it going. We haven’t been to an E8 since 2002. We aren’t asking for much given the resources a coach has at their disposal here. We want effort, a team that understands the fundamentals and a foundation for somewhat consistent success. He repeatedly keeps bringing up “noise” as a reason coaches would/should either be turned off or wouldn’t be able to handle the job when the “noise” is the only thing this damn program has left for it. In any way blaming the noise or fans in general for current or future issues continues to be the laziest take. Any program thats endured what we have this century and with fan interest, desire to win, and $$$ like this would have as much if not more noise.
