Obviously tournament runs matter, but it is a single elimination tournament hiring someone based purely off making one or two runs leaves you open to the Archie's of the world.
-
In general when looking for a coach, tournament runs should not be a main consideration. Total wins, conference finishes, tournament seeds and consistency getting there is much more important in my opinion.

IUBB vs Morehead State - Tuesday, 12.19.23 @ 6:30 on BTN

Went on Draftkings and adjusted the spread to take us by -18, that was the highest they let me go. I expect a 25+ point win. -
It also means nothing
-
As long as we don't do any nonsense the next 3 games, we will be going into the new year with a clean sheet. Nothing to hold us up or down and a schedule ahead of us against a lot of teams that are more than beatable. I am excited. We are not where we need to be yet but I think this is an important year to have a productive season to fully stabilize the program and hopefully add some more pieces for next season.
-
I'll preface this with I think Woody getting fired at any point means way more bad for the program than good. If at some point Woody is gone, I'm not really sure I see the "restrictions" everyone is talking about. I know in the past the admin absolutely did throw every roadblock imaginable but it is an insane thing to say that at the modern time we aren't "playing the game". The University seems to have zero issue with NIL and look at what they're starting to do with football. Now I will agree that we are still too holier than thou on looking at a coach with maybe some past violations but in reality during the last search we probably got told no more than any of us would like to admit.
-
I agree although through the first 10 games he's already shown a ton of improvement so who knows what we see in the next 20+ games. I feel like he can hit another level for us this year than he's already gotten to thus far.
-
I was telling a friend I would love to see this lineup next year. Only thing that would worry me is that Malik has yet to show that he can rebound at super high level.
-
It seemed like Mgbako was hell bent on being a one and done do you see any way we can get him back? I know he is not on many mocks right now but I figured he might be one that will leave to get to the league ASAP even if that meant second round.
-
The best way to describe the team's resume at this point is we aren't being anchored down by anything but also haven't done anything to help. Definitely more work to do but I am with you I feel good about the current trajectory. Would definitely like to see us dominate these next 3 games though just to show we've grown up a bit from the first 3 games.

I try my best to block little Archie out of my mind but every time I think about his tenure it gets worse and worse. Quite honestly might be one of the worst coaching hires in the history of sports. -

Do I wish we won one of these big games so far this year absolutely. However I learned my lesson for good last year on when to believe the sky is falling. We have a lot of games left and while we have not gotten anything done outside of a current Q1 win at Michigan, I am not going to give this season an evaluation with this much left in front of us. I really think we will win at least 13 Big Ten games and if we can bottle up some of what we did Saturday and keep that going we can do even more. Saturday was one of the biggest punches in the dick this team has given me but it is hard to look at the game objectively and not feel encouraged moving forward. Again I was one of the people last year that lost their heads after that PSU game and we immediately went on one of the most impressive winning streaks in the last decade right after. The sky is not falling we have a lot of games left to play, let's just beat some @$$ the next two weeks so the computers stop treating us like the ugly stepchild lol. -

Thought we showed some promise yesterday and overall feel better about the team moving forward this season but man that was one of the most soul crushing losses I’ve ever been in attendance for. Just brutal. oh and maybe if we want to get open shots we should get ourselves an o lineman like KJ Adams to set moving screens on every possession! -

Dragging your feet on this kid just doesn't make any sense. No clue why we have not gone all in on him yet, this is the type of guard we are always begging for. -

This^^^^ We can all agree the play style completely blows, but there is nothing that can be done now. The complaining about it has been warranted but I think at this point we all know it isn't going to change so hopefully we can all stop beating the ever living **** out of that dead horse haha -

I know I've probably already beat a dead horse with this quote but I find it relevant and will probably continue to beat it into the ground lol. "I came back to win national titles and big ten titles." That in my opinion means there should be no moral victories. I know this years team is not a national title contender and that is fine we lost a ton from last year. However, you don't schedule a home and home with Kansas with the expectation of keeping it close at home, you schedule it with the expectation of winning. I don't care if we lose by 1 point, winning should be the only outcome this Saturday that matters because that is the expectation that Woody has put on the record in multiple press conferences and frankly that is what should be expected of this program. It's time to act like big boys and go get a win. I'm tired of our biggest wins being on the recruiting trail for big men and small forwards lol. -

Leal clearly was not capable of producing in any way on Saturday, however I do think he can be useful in Big Ten play this year. Us getting destroyed on Saturday has clouded a lot of judgement. There is not a team in the Big Ten that can come even close to the ball pressure we saw on Saturday and I think Leal's ability to move the ball against much less athletic teams could be valuable in spurts. This is not a good Big Ten this year we may not have shown as much as we want so far but there is a really good opportunity to stack conference wins in what is a down year/bridge year for us. The 2024 class and portal have to be much better though I think anyone with eyes can agree on that. -

I think it says more about Gunn than anything. He has got to figure out how to play. He was really solid at Michigan and that's why Leal did not play in that game but we had no choice but to put Leal in on Saturday because Gunn completely lost his head from the second he checked in. -

So...anyone got anything positive to talk about haha? Saturday sucked but I am hoping to get out of the doom and gloom and into the light as I get pumped up for this Saturday. -
