I know that Rabjohns is typically more vague and guarded, partially because he has to be but also because it pays to keep people coming back for more, but what has his vibe been about Stevens this time? question for the peegsters I guess but just wondering if he is hearing the same things our insiders are, or if he is giving them and weight.

I think you’re right. If we’ve got everyone in the know saying that Beard is ours if we want him, that’s not a bad floor for Scott to rest on while he reaches for much higher. its like those movies where the hot girl tells everyone you’re cute and suddenly everyone else likes you even more. Except in this case our hot girl sometimes nips a little too much whisky and likes to be handsy so we won’t ever really date her.

Other than Beard, I do think it’s interesting that we aren’t getting any early rumors from the big sites about people we’ve reached out to or who have some legs. Unless trilly or peegs have said otherwise and I’ve missed it. i know it’s been two days, but not sure how quickly mid season vs traditional hiring processes go. With a big national spotlight I just figured we would start hearing tons of “rumors” of some sort right out of the gate. Seems like we are only hearing Stevens stuff.

@Chris007 I know that we are all hoping for option 1 and have reasons to be optimistic, but in general how confident are you that Dusty would be a definite yes if it got to him? I know there have been some reports since last year that maybe he wasn’t as locked in for IU as we initially thought, but wondering if you had heard anything suggestive one way or another.

I think if you christen it with some intel it will officially take off on its quest to catch the FMW thread. Hopefully it ends up being a few hundred pages of cheers and congratulations

“I’m not guessing” is the my least favorite Rabby-ism. Used almost exclusively when we are about to lose a recruit that he had been previously clickbaiting as a high likelihood of coming to IU.

I think the rebounding emphasis might be the most important part of tonight’s game. They’re gonna run and get shots up. If they are getting multiple chances and clean kick outs for open threes we’re dead. i liked how we looked rebounding the last two games though. I think a focus has been put on it lately and I think we pull this one out.

One of my Illinois buddies texted me last game at halftime “what the f*** is wrong with Indiana”. Based on the Luke Goode timeout in the Bahamas I have to imagine he is also thinking “what the f*** is wrong with you guys” All this to say, I think TJD covered it up, Ware made it look questionable, but this year the veil is gone and we just look terrible with a team full of All-Conference caliber players. Sad.

I can vouch as one of those who typically tunes in for every game and is normally heavily invested, but this season I have passively watch a few games in the background and checked box scores afterwards to see who played well. I just don’t want to invest any energy or my mood for the night because it feels like even when we win, we don’t look like a good basketball team and that just bums me out. I’ve tried to squint for the past few years to convince myself we might be a good team but watching one game with this team it just feels obvious it’s a system problem, and it doesn’t really matter what pieces we get.

All I can say for certain is that whichever way today goes, the narrative will swing wildly in that direction: If we land him, we have finally taken our place amongst the elite and our NIL will get us anyone we want for the foreseeable future. If we don’t, our staff can’t close even with unlimited money and Mullins will no doubt see us as a sinking ship and run to UCONN as fast as he can. this is the only predictable outcome in HS recruiting
