This is fascinating. I really don’t know if I buy that Dolson is just floating out names to keep people off the scent but I think he is putting on a masterclass on a very controlled and “no outside noise” search. Other than our football search, anyone else know of a process like this where there was no concrete evidence getting out for several weeks of the process?

The last 8 years of watching this team have truly been like wandering in the desert. I am at the point where I would welcome Beard with minimal reservations. I am so sick of inconsistency and the promise of talented rosters underperforming so grossly. I just want a tough, mean team with a high floor. sure I would brace myself for the first two years that we would get a shocking police report and it would be over. But winning cures all. If we hired him and got five really strong years before a DUI sends him packing, I could do that. I know that feels gross, but we’d be able to make another monster hire with our resources at that point too. **with that being said, come on down Brad Stevens.

I got the same takeaway from this article. He is hearing from insiders that they think our coach will be someone not on these lists? If there was any realistic name he was hearing he would print it. The truth is, anyone outside the very comprehensive list he has in his article would be completely out of left field. There are no “veterans wanting a challenge” that IU would want that are not already on that list. I think Bozich and probably some others are hearing some variation of “Scott’s got his guy, and I’m not telling you who it is”.

Totally agree. And I agree with your sentiment that IU will be getting a great coach no matter what based on the factors we’ve gone over here before (compensation, revenue, NIL). The only negative to a tight lipped search is the chance it is a left field hire technically exists and we can’t be 100 percent confident in the pool they are choosing from. Which i think is the reason for continued paranoia on the boards given our recent history. Lol

Personally, I would think that if this person is having multiple in-person meetings with donors about compensation, things would be advanced enough that we are talking about getting something in writing sooner rather than later. I can’t imagine from our side of things that anyone would say “no” after meeting with Brad. Would that seem to be along the lines of what you are hearing? Or why else would the donors putting up the money need to meet with him?

So with Rabjohns saying he doesn’t have a clue what Dolson is thinking in this search, does that mean we can safely disregard his hot board and intel on this matter? I didn’t see a hot board post from anyone yesterday so maybe he didn’t put one out, but it seems like admitting you don’t know what the hiring party is thinking at all should exclude you from making much commentary on who they will pick lol

Either if those tier one candidates would be a huge win

I do appreciate the extremely short turnaround on the troll behavior. We get quick hits for 1-2 hours to keep us addicted instead of 2 week time frames where we just stress ourselves out.

The only reason I could think (outside of planning to make yourself available): ”Hey everyone, my buyout is very reasonable, come dangle offers my way so I can leverage them for a higher salary” Maybe the thinking on his part is that 18.5 million buyout makes it completely unlikely that anyone would be able to hire him away, therefore unlikely that ISU would feel much pressure to further increase his salary.

I may have misread you, but it seemed like earlier your post said you have information from Brad’s side that tracks with what Jackal said, but in the same sentence said his info didn’t make sense. so is your information telling you that Brad is definitely a “no”, but his story doesn’t make sense, or are you saying your source on Brad’s side says that he’s still in discussion?
