  1. Although, I feel like Armaan is likely getting courted much harder and by a lot more schools, which might be harder to ignore.
  2. and reposted pretty quickly too.
  3. Yeah, to me it seemed like he was on a really tight lease with 3 point attempts, which seemed to mostly come before the first media timeout. Maybe he didn't have the confidence in his shot once he started getting a little fatigued, or very likely he was flat out told not to take them as the game went on. With some of TJD's comments, it really feels like Archie micromanaged in the manner and expected players to stick to narrowly defined roles
  4. And reading the tea leaves, the DOBO for the last 4 seasons, Brian Walsh (came with Archie from Dayton) is no longer listed as a staff member on the roster/coaching staff page. Not sure when he was removed (right when Woodson was added or maybe just in the last few days), but it might indicate that IU has a plan to replace him (Roberts)
  5. Which is why I don't think Roberts is going to be the 3rd assistant - it would have been announced already. Also, if the plan is to keep him on in another capacity (DOBO?), I think announcing that now could prevent him from having any contact with recruits and potential transfers. Also, its certainly possible that Woody could be targeting some NBA assistants, which might need to be wait until after the season to be announced. In which case, keeping Roberts on as sort of an interim assistant makes a lot of sense. Also, I'm sure that Roberts is free to leave for another job if he'd want to, but that IU could making it worth his while to take a demotion, at least this year while their is a lot of transition. I could see if him keeping his current salary if moved to DOBO
  6. Maybe a plausible reason for the delay in announcing the last assistant - maybe Roberts has been the primary contact for a couple players in the portal, and we don’t want to move him to a nonrecruiting position until after they commit or we fill all roster so he can keep communicating with those guys.
  7. Nope, that's 13 plus Brunk
  8. 13 but Brunk does count towards the limit - SR taking additional COVID year without transferring
  9. Truthfully, I wouldn't get too tied up in Woody's stated preference for a 4-1 offensive scheme. The 4-1 scheme is something that IU will certainly work towards, especially with recruiting, and we will probably see at least some elements of it this year, but Woody wants to win now will put the best lineups on the floor, regardless of scheme. So if Race does come back, we could see a lot of Race and TJD at the same time if that's one of IU's better lineups Plus, Race does have a decent outside shot, so we could probably run some hybrid of a 4-1 (3.5-1.5 :) ) with Race playing a little more outside than we are used to seeing, especially if his shooting continues to improve
  10. With Minnesota (his most likely transfer spot) being in some disarray with an underwhelming HC hire and a several transfers, it probably puts IU back in the running, especially with all of IU's returnees and now a big transfer in XJ
  11. Elbow of the guy behind him
  12. By the sounds of it, so is he.
  13. Yep, Goodman is very much a transactional/access reporter. Also someone that I think would be willing to put out knowingly false info as a favor to get future access. Holtmann's agent: "Hey Jeff, IU sent out a routine feeler email to see if Chris might be interested in the IU job. Chris like most coaches gets like 5-10 of these at the end of every season but usually aren't worthwhile enough to leak, but if you could report it as more overt interest (you wouldn't be completely lying), it might have some legs because IU's search is dragging on a bit. If you could do us this solid, I'll try to pass any good story leads in the near future" Goodman: "Sure" Goodman 3 minutes later:
  14. Also, its also a good way for Fife to get out from under Izzo's shadow. Not saying that Fife might regret having gone to MSU or that it was a bad experience in any way, just that any credit for success will always be given to Izzo because of his established reputation. With Woodson being new to the college game, IU's assistants will probably get a ton of credit for any success, which in turn might boost their own profiles for future jobs. Also, with Fife being at MSU for so long, he's probably maxed out what he can learn from Izzo, and getting a different perspective from Woodson (especially with his NBA background) is probably very enticing
  15. yep, missed that, 250k was at Nebraska
  16. Lewis is only making 250k at UCLA (and because of LA/CA cost of living would be like the equivalent of 175 in Indiana). If he'd get 350k at IU, that effectively doubling his salary. If he does come to IU, I'm guessing Lewis' salary will be around $300k
  17. The Portal is always open (which is just means of connecting players and coaches/schools), the only deadlines are the ones associated with enrollment/eligibility. A player could enter the portal and transfer in October, but that screws up fall semester academics, and they wouldn't be eligible to play until they had reestablished good academic standing. At least for this year, I think a player could enter the portal and transfer, and be eligible to play immediately as long they did so before the first day of classes of the fall semester
  18. If there is some limit (which I highly doubt) it is probably way above Fife's salary. Kenny Payne was making over $800k at Kentucky before he left for the Knicks
  19. I think that amount still matters in to coaches Fife's salary range (coaches almost always need to plan as if they might needing to take a drastic pay cut in the near future) , although its also very much in the range of what I think MSU could and would be willing to match, so coming back to IU was certainly the driving factor
  20. I think the roster had the talent to be a 20 win team, but just couldn't get on track
  21. We'd have one more (so 2 total) because Brunk's won't count against the 13 (Senior taking extra COVID are excluded from limits)
  22. My thought was that Goodman was making a pun with Great Dane, and saying that the pun was a little forced
  23. Yeah, Franklin seems to be pretty active promoting/supporting decisions of players, both IU and non-IU related, but I don't think he has retweeted or liked anything related specifically about Woodson
  24. One of Woodson's first talking points about style of play is that he wants guys that can guard multiple positions, and that is definitely Geronimo
