Transfer Portal w IU Interest
str8baller replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
You can point that out. But then I’d have to point out he avg over 12 as a sophomore and his numbers were clearly depressed by playing with Storr who was a ball hog and then playing off the ball some when Klesmit came in. I watched about every game he played both of those years, and he was one of the better guards in the league. His year this season should not have been a big surprise. -

Last year Kelsey was all hope and potential. Didn’t stop him from landing top guards like Hepburn. -

He’s gonna get paid and where a lions share of the nil money is going if we’re skimping on guys like Conwell -

He’s gassing PU up for more money and will go in the portal if he doesn’t get it. 4-5mil seems to be the number currently. -

No. We’re gonna be saying while he was signing a backup pg, Lville was signing Conwell, which seemed to be stupid in the moment and then proved to be so. -
Lots of people talking about this. Don’t think it’s surprising. Actually surprised he’s not in earlier with the way the Houston game went. Next year is probably his best chance to make big money in this game. On American soil, at least.

Dusty May off to a hot start. Wonder what he negotiated in NIL in his updated contract

Ok. Now let’s sign some starters :) -
Them in the Ivy is a fun thought experiment. Basically every night they’d have a talent advantage 1-4 or 5, but the top of the ivy is older guys that have been together a few years with good coaching.

I’m assuming the goal is to have answers from Conwell and Dix by the weekend? Any chance either of them extends past the 7th? -

If he hangs a banner and consistently makes the Final 4, nobody will care about regular season titles or much of anything else, either. It doesn’t mean it isn’t a goal or decent standard to judge one by. The point really being nobody expects him to be that successful right away. But he can placate expectations initially by reaching several lesser goals, one of which would be BTT. -

It’s not at the top of my list, but it’s a nice thing to finish off strong. After May signed his contract Michigan hit the tough part of their schedule. Some people were saying he’d fell off or got figured out, because they predictably lost some of the harder games. Then UM won the BTT and went to the S16. I bet that did a lot for some UM fans who were nervous about him for whatever reason. Effect would be the same if CDD won the BTT in his first year. -

Don’t know if I’d say that. He might do it as a courtesy to his former coach. He might go to see if they’ll put up more money than they are currently offering. He might go because Austin is awesome and nice this time of year. At the end of the day if IUs offering the most I like our chances. -
Put your poster name on the line! Way to early devries reaction!

That would fall into the “mildly disappointing, but acceptable” category for the first year. -

That makes sense. I thought you were comparing the two as players. -

Dix is a better athlete, imo. Probably a better ballhandler, too. McNeely can absolutely stroke it on catch and shoots. He was great in Bennetts system working off the ball going strong screens to find space. Not as good at creating his own space. Really about fit if you’re comparing the two. -

Same. Tbf I think lightening hit my parents house. My mother reported she’s watching games on her iPad. -

Goode is coming off the bench in almost any scenario. Last year for a solid Illinois team he played 20mpg off the bench and was a known def liability. -

They’ll need to build on the Barnes experience eventually. Dude comes up small in the tourney but is otherwise a helluva coach -
If we’re doing legacy kids I watched Henderson’s kid in the 2A game. Wasn’t much there but I think he’s a sophomore and about 6’6” and looked like he hadn’t even hit puberty yet…lol. I could see him being a late bloomer. Maybe a walk on or something

Curry Hicks Sage hinted at Stevens backing out on Sunday night
str8baller replied to Ctf9's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don’t think his personality is cut out for today’s college game. He lost his team as the coach of the Celtics. He was fortunate to be able to move in to the front office which seems to be a good fit for his basketball mind. It’s silly to consider the matter any further. -

At one point last year there was talk of Conwell wanting to handle the ball and be more of a combo guard. A smart coach could make both work. I would love to see that type of scoring talent at the guard position. -

Of course. But they are also capable of putting up a lot of points on good defenses. They did it on multiple occasions this year. When they’re on (or any team) they’re making contested 3’s all game. That’s kinda part of the strategy. Any team can and should take the open 3s. -

That’s Bamas and Oats m.o. And why I’ve never been as high on him as others. He’s a good coach but hard to run off 6 straight games when your philosophy is literally live and die by the 3, especially if you can’t defend. When they’re on they look amazing but last night they were like 25% from 3.
