    IUBB vs Alabama A&M - Wednesday, 11.05.25 @ 8:00 on BTN

Bardo is an egregious oversight, but I don’t mind Settles. Him and Butch are probably my two preferred guys.

Also, I don’t want to frighten anyone who is all jazzed about 3 pointers this year but… Arizona shot five 3-pters last night. Not made, but shot. Florida shot 27.

I’m trying to think of a better freshman debut performance and can’t think of one off the top of my head. I’d guess you’re right Stuhoo on him being one and done. With that said he’s listed at 6’8” 235. He’s very skilled and fluid with a ton of strength. But I could see a scenario where his measurables send him back for another (highly paid) season. Not a lot of 6’8” guys in the NBA get their buckets the way he did last night. Not anymore anyways.

Myles Rice out tonight for Maryland. They have his former WSU backcourt mate. Plus a couple freshman and a decent MM transfer PG. interesting roster Buzz cobbled together. I could see them being a tough out in conf play by the end of the year. Like us though it looks like teams with good size and athleticism could overwhelm them.

    IU Basketball News and Notes

I saw that post the other day. While initially skeptical that we’d start both our PG’s together, I see why Enrights in there. In fact, I think it’ll be tough to get him out of there so long as Bailey starts. Him and Conorway and an increasingly defensive Lamar make the kind keep-your-man-in-front-you perimeter defensive unit you’d want if you’re trying to protect guys like Bailey, and to a lesser extent, Tucker and Sisley underneath.

They’ve been screen heavy. They can basically have them now because they’re not coming back from this deficit

Same plus PU football fans are pretty demoralized so I’m sure they’ll hardly bother to show up.

Purdue hasn’t even played a game and are already dropping. Also, that’s basically where we were last year, so hopefully we’re a little better than that.
  12. More about who will be able to punish us down low. Bailey shot 40+% from 3 last year too so if your strategy is just run teams off the floor and make them adjust, then there shouldn’t be a lot of concern about his matchups. I’m not convinced that’s how it’ll play out. Not ideal other B1G teams have equally as good prospects. We have to play them all…lol.
  13. Not sure how Purdue handles Jacobsen. I think they’re better on offense without him. I’ll bet TKR will be a mess to guard for anyone but Alexis. There’s too much turnover for me to keep track anymore, but it always seems like Nebraska or NW or somebody has strong Eastern Euro type who can push people around.
  14. My recollection of watching him play last year was the same as that scouting report. More of a “euro big.” I thought he was a decent player and am kind of surprised his overall stats are that low. In any event he’s not the type of player that Bailey should struggle with athletically. If he does, I don’t think it bodes well for other matchups. I’m actually interested to see if any of these cupcakes have a physical guy down low and how he handles it.
  15. Enright played and started for a P5 team last year. He was also pretty coveted by a coach who had a top 15 DefE last year at a power 5 school. I think the lack of athleticism might be a tad overstated. I’ve seen guys like Bo Ryan and Tony Bennett put out really good defensive teams without a ton of top line athletic talent. But that does kind of bleed into the rebounding. Yes we struggled to rebound on the defensive end. But a huge portion of their advantage was in the 16 vs 4 offensive rebounds stat. I doubt you’ll see us get many this year as guys hustle back to set-up our half court defense. The aforementioned mentioned Ryan and Bennett rarely had prolific offensive rebounding teams for the exact same reason. So we’ll usually get out rebounded but hopefully to the tune of getting good D efficiency (which will somewhat be dampened if we still struggle with defensive rebounds).** We got there in the second half and Coach Drew even praised it in post game. I think the rate at which we will make 3’s won’t affect our floor as much as it does our ceiling. Our floor will be determined by how well they defend. If we defend like the first 10 min of that exhibition somewhere in the mid-teens is realistic. If we defend like we did in the second half, we shouldn’t have a problem making the tourney. **while I agree on some of Baileys limitations, Baylors two leading rebounders were long athletic guards. We can shore up a significant portion of our rebounding issue by getting better at blocking out as a team.

The ol’ Lou Holtz routine. Of course, Lou was pretty good at getting his guys up for big games and navigating tough schedules. Cig is good in these press conferences.

I thought maybe that one was satire since it is exactly the same as Coming to America, but hilarious nonetheless. There are quite a few former players, coaches, and media members dancing on Kelly’s grave on twitter/X pretty much confirming what everyone else already knew: he’s a grade A ******.

That honestly seems to be the NCAA’s goal—an officially sanctioned stepping stone to the NBA. I’m ready for the NCAA to be officially pushed aside and the B1G/SEC create something new in its place.
  19. He’s got kind of a high center of gravity. He looked decent enough in space at times. I wonder if the staff can work with him to continue to get low and apply more leverage in the post defensively. You can see why CDD mentioned playing him and Alexis together, though. There’s too much roster turnover for me to keep up with but I wonder how many B1G teams even have a guy who can punish us down low. I still worry more about the rebounds. All those guys seem to be below average rebounders for their position. Maybe that’s where a more athletic wing comes into play over Enright.
  20. For reference: Baylor has made the tourney 10/11 seasons (Covid yr excepted) They’re last 5 seeds have been: 9, 3, 3, 1, 1 They’ve won 20+ games 13/14 years Odds are we just went toe to toe with a solid team that will likely make the tourney. It’s our best benchmark so far.
