We’re discussing a player, not staffs. there are a bunch of players who weren’t good shooters who had one good season. Including our own Trey Galloway. But you’re not interested in seeing that because you just engage in rah rah feel good platitudes instead of actual discussion.

Shocked they didn’t pay their bets…lol. The main problem I see with Enricht is his FT shooting. Makes him unplayable at the end of games. Complain about Rice and Mbako all you want—and I have plenty—but those guys won us a couple games with their FT shooting that would’ve been lost if left to Leal and Galloway. Michigan was in a bunch of tight games largely because Wolf and Gayle were awful ft shooters. Duke is the opposite. So if we’re getting the guy as a rotation piece, then I say great. If the plan is to have him be the primary ball handler and close games, I think there are some red flags in his shooting numbers.

Basically this. I will say that I don’t dislike Scheyer as much as I thought I would and his team this year isn’t nearly as annoying as some past Duke teams

Injured shoulder or they went from cream puffs in Noncon to actual competition? He’s a horrible FT shooter, so when I see that it’s hard to give him the benefit of the doubt. Whomever mentioned Galloway above is exactly who I thought of when seeing his numbers. I’m sure he’ll hit some 3’s but largely unplayable at the end of games. Which again is fine with me since he’s a backup.

I heard the same about Rice last year and if you just take out the games at the end where he was tired… Whatever the excuse is he hasn’t made a ton of shots in 3 years with career 43/37/67 splits.

And 9 years on Crean and 7 on Davis and Sampson. If Florida wins you can throw them with UConn as programs that have emerged as blue bloods since our last title.

I don’t even know what expectations mean for a first year coach. There’s no stumble so bad that it could put his job in jeopardy. He works for IU so he could miss the tourney 3 straight years and he’s getting a 4th. But I guess for me personally, I know what Woodys general expectations were last year when allowed to buy his own team. I know what a few first year coaches did at our aspirational peers last year. So if CDD can’t match those markers, I’ll be looking for answers why just to satisfy my own curiosity.

Technically he won 2 tourney games

We beat Purdue and won at MSU which is probably one of the better wins of the year. We were 2nd right behind WVU as the most egregious tourney snubs. WVU basically had a nearly identical year to us last year by the numbers, with the caveat they had worse injury luck. Nobody will be happy with that type of season, nor should they be.

I think the $4mil number was disputed and it was close to 2. Also, no way Goode is getting 1.5. But the point remains he if did that he’d have a couple mil to throw at a starting center and a couple mil to make a bench which wouldn’t get you much. (Plus sisley). I will say though if by now we had an expected lineup of Dix, Conwell and Dvries plus Goode and Sisley off the bench and pieces later people would be elated, although I agree with you that filling out the rest of the roster would be tough. That’s a tourney team but maybe not much more.
