He was struggling with all that high pressure and painter insisted on that ball screens at the top which just brought an extra defender. About the worst tactic you could employ, imo. They’ll be fine in the B1G because few teams can bring that type of ball pressure although I’d love to see us try by going small. Let Ballo mop up Berg and Reneau dominate TKR.

Purdue having trouble stay in front of Marquette, and Marquette is doing a good job of bothering smith often with a trap or hard hedge out on the ball screens up top.

Interesting. I feel like I saw way more than 12 post entries (completed or attempted). With that said I also see more ball screens to start possessions and the small ball lineups look to have a four out look that was rarer in the past. Tough to say with only one real game under our belt but I don’t see us straying from our old offense as much as some. For example, we still only had 17 attempts from 3, which is closer to our nearly last place average last year than an average D1 team. Seemed like a lot of the difference yesterday was how much we got out in transition. That’s a good thing too, though.

Today’s game was fun. Looking at Alabama’s and Purdues schedule and I wish we had more than that

For as much as we’ve tried small ball I think we’ll eventually have to have a Galloway in for one of Ballo/reneau and truly have our best five on the court at once.
