Disagree with that. IMO this is about TV and the ongoing realignment. They’ll think hard about letting the SEC and B1G look like they dominate everything unless it’s obvious. In the scenario where ND loses a close one to Army who gets in and beats up on USC. They’ll by far have the best win vs IU especially if AM gets in or finishes with only 3 losses. They’re also a bigger tv draw. And they allow the committee to not give the B1G 4 teams. They love the perception of being fair while acquiescing to the SEC. Look at what happened to FSU last year and they’re a big name. I’m not saying IU wouldn’t get in over ND in that scenario but I would be nervous. Similarly with Boise. They played the #1 team to the wire. We just got stomped by the #2. 2 loss power teams and one loss Cinderella are our competition now. Like to see them all go down. ESPN runs the thing and they are with the SEC. They’ll take small opportunities to sleight their competition...which is basically the big ten at this point. Worries me for IU a little if things don’t shake out right. Ole miss going down today was huge though. Likely enough.

IMO, committee will be fine with 3 B1G teams. Probably the minimum minus something crazy happening. And they won’t particularly care about the 3rd. PSU losing makes IU an easy pick.

I agree with this…said as much earlier. Defense and running game looked top 10. With that said Kannell is a known SEC antagonist. Which I respect. But I wouldn’t take his comments as what will emerge as the consensus; quite the opposite most likely.

I think so. Haven’t really mapped it out but it likely should. You can get 4 sec, 4 big, b12, acc, nd and one other darling in now. No one else has argument if things play out as they should, imo. Last thing you want is ND to lose close to Army. Miami close loss. AM to upset Texas, etc…. Then have army be in a great story and IU, Boise, smu potential 2 loss Texas, Texas am, Miami and ND jockeying for 3 or 4 remaining spots. IUs resume would be shakey there

I’m telling you this would be bad. Better hope army gets eliminated and nd loses to usc if you want teams out. Army beating nd could easily result in army and nd in over IU.

Yep. Said the same in a text thread to my friends. Ryan Day is the most thin skinned coach in America. he was going to try and acore there. Should’ve left it a 17 pt game and lobbied the committee. Hard to do for a guy like cig tho. I get it.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with regard to the future of motion and motion-like offenses. I hope he succeeds there with that style. They’ve got the money. They should give it to him. I can see no way it works turning the roster over every year or two.

Not really. NBA is horribly run league and he joined at a time when the NBA had rules set up against shooting from outside or at least players that did. His failure in the NBA is almost entirely related to his defensive philosophy though, which is just untenable at the NBA level. He’s not gods gift to coaching. I wouldn’t particularly emulate his style. But he was way ahead of the curve in implementing the 3 point line successfully. I don’t think Knight gets enough credit either for what he did with Alford in that regard. But as far as a whole team tactic Pitino was one of the first to really adopt it whole sale at a high level. The pros almost always lag the amateur level in xs and os innovation in basketball. Knight would’ve failed in the NBA too and it would’ve had nothing to do with his tactical and strategic brilliance.

I think Pitino just gets hate because he’s a grade A ******. Helluva coach though. For those of you that are younger (not necessarily saying you FW) his run at Kentucky was really something. He really was at the forefront of the pace and 3 pointers trend. He also publicly preached the 50% on = 33% on 3s back then. It always makes me laugh that NBA nerds pretend like they discovered something new 20 years after the fact. I was always glad he left for the NBA because Knight was on the down swing and we really had nothing for them. He was never able to quite capture that magic at Louisville.

It won’t matter much. Last year we were in close games with a bunch of 200ish+ teams and then blown out by anyone good. That hurt. A couple lackluster wins doesn’t hurt when you mix in some good ones too.

Dumb subs but to be fair he killed that lineup after 2min. These guys just never recovered for some reason.

I feel like we play slower than we are. Rice, carlyle, gallow and tucker are all pretty quick.

It’s nice to be able to finally shoot the ball.
