First hire in this new era of portal AND NIL. DD seems to be organized and have a vision for how he wants his teams to play on both ends of the court. The next month will be interesting to see how he builds a roster. This isn't going to be like Woody was in the portal and just go grab the highest ranked players. There will be a strategic plan with specific skills and traits targeted. Indiana High School coaches will be drawn to DD and look for in state recruiting over the coming years to improve. Trent Sisley fits perfectly in DD's system which helps in that area too. I do think DD is a similar hire to what Kentucky and Louisville pulled in last year and do expect that DD can have a first year at IU like what Pope and Kelsey had this year.

Not Christmas morning yet....more like Dec. 21...I'm poking around the basement closet where mom and dad hid our "stuff". Dreaming of finding the Millennium Falcon, but all I'm seeing is an unwrapped Operations Game that looks cool but not what I wanted. In the end....I got the Millennium Falcon...they knew to hide the really cool gift and what I wanted in their best hiding spot. Yeah...that's what I'm hoping this is now.

If, and its a big if, he was really a week or two out from taking over a major college basketball program, it sure would make sense for a guy to attend a bunch of conference tournaments to see a wide range of players that may be in the portal soon.

The most notable guy watching a game last night was the huge Missouri fan behind Brad Stevens with what appeared to be a hernia in his pants.

It's just interesting....that of 30 NBA GMs....the one that we are all the most interested in is sitting at the SEC conference tournament in what looks like the cheap seats. Have any other Tweets of NBA GMs sitting at conference tournaments been made this week?

Don't you think the players and their families know what they are getting if they go play for Coach Drew. In fact, I would venture to say those players and families are seeking that "type" of coaching and mentoring from a coach if they play for Coach Drew. Coach Drew's religious practices apparently have not hurt his abilities to build championship winning teams at Baylor. I don't think it would have any hindrance to his ability to build championship teams at Indiana.

Appreciate all the great info and hub that is here for IU womens basketball talk. Got to believe the coaching staff is considering transfer options in for next year. Would think they someone looking to be on a national title contending team would give us a look. Are there any free sites out there that provide who is in the womens portal?

What would cause him the most grief on Twitter? If we (IU twitter fanbase) collectively worked together, we would really trouble him. Block him? Unfollow him? Any other ideas?

There's lots to choose from out there....Marcus Carr, Xavier Johnson, Caleb Love. We will be fine (not to borrow a phrase from our former coach) if Parker and Armaan choose elsewhere.

I think all of those guys could be leveraged for recruiting purposes. But, I'm not sure any of them are big time college basketball assistants. I would think we would want to surround Woody with assistants who have experience on the recruiting trail. Kenya Hunter seems like a no brainer to keep on board with his recruiting ties and abilities. He would have the east coast recruiting ties. I think an assistant with Indiana/midwest ties would be next. Next, I really think we need an assistant who would be our defensive coordinator so to speak. Woody seems to be the offensive guru. I think we need someone that could bring an expertise on defense to his staff. I'm softening to the idea of Woodson. I think smart hires for assistant coaches could give us a pretty strong staff.

Yeah....my 13 year old daughter is like...."dad...you're surprised he picked the Celtics over lowly IU". Damn....to see the world through that generation's eyes. Got to get someone in here to show these kids what IU basketball can be.

Our social media presence has to be one of moving on to the next target. We will scare away people if they think we only wanted Brad. Who knows, with the numbers being thrown around this week....there may be some candidates we didn't even think of that might be interested in getting PAID!
