Titus is my favorite Buckeye. Hands down.

Just saw his twitter. If the coaching search has got to this point, we need to be concerned. Isn't this sort of a violation of trust among schools in the same conference? So we got a very good women's basketball coach in Teri Moren. Can Purdue actively recruit coach Moren after the tournament?
-
Hard to believe Scott Dolson tried to pry Holtmann off of OSU, a prominent member of Big Ten. I think there's a line that schools in the same conference just don't cross.

These media guys are so idiodic and can't process things objectively. If anyone tells them to stay at a small local TV station getting paid 100K rather than to work for a national TV network for considerably more money and fame because of more job pressure and scrutiny, I'm dead sure these guys will tell them "Fxxx off!". These media guys are there showing their mugs at Around the horn because they had ambition and aspiration to achieve more and challenged themselves, but when they talk about other people, "hey money and fame's good, but you don't want that big pressure and stress. Be happy where you are."

Didn't know Michael Lewis lost his hair. Time flies.

What now, does that make Stevens an Okla-hole if there's such a thing?
-
Pinch runner would be an understatement. Beilein is a really good coach.
-
I'm guessing Dolson's getting too many of these emails, and it's great too see he's not ignoring fans. I think this is his generic response (i.e. a copy and paste) for all fans wanting to reach out to him about the hiring.

I consider Beilein possibly being a double (up to a triple) due to his age, but he will put us in scoring position when he retires.

Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

But the heavy denial was way too heavy. We got crushed. He left us no doubt or any guesswork. IMHO, unless he gets fired in mid season, there's no way we have a chance to get him. Waiting until the end of NBA season is plain dumb unless he gave Dolson a firm commitment behind the scene. But then even with a remotely possible verbal commitment, he can change his mind and stay in the NBA if a new opportunity arises. More often than not, if a person says no, it simply means no. -

Until you get hit by another disappointing comment from the one and only Indiana Masshole. -

Hey no matter how some people make fun of him, it won't matter 'cause he got a trophy wife. He's a winner in life. -
Hey you excluded a female coach. I definitely think we're landing a human being.

Candidate Thread: Becky Hammon (San Antonio Spurs Assistant)
akumanina replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I would rather have Mike Woodson all day every day. I understand Hammon can be a great coach, but her resume is not stronger than Woodson's. We already have one of us who could be as good as Hammon or better, and on top of that, Woodson's love for IU and the state of Indiana is absolutely undeniable. I know some people think that Woodson's got a low ceiling, but I think differently. Because he's from Indy and he's an IU guy who was a star player at IU, played and coached in the NBA, he's got a pretty good upside. If he assembles a good coaching staff (I think he would), I think he would succeed here at IU. -
I wanna see some 'Sweet Georgia Brown' at IU!!
-
If he keeps growing and becomes one of the major names in D1, his ego can get bigger and may take a blueblood gig, but timing is just not on our side at this point.
-
Nate Oats seems to me like another pipe dream. He's got good things going at Alabama. If he does well in that sh!tty conference like Mark Few, he's got no problem getting a high seed every year.
-
Are you sure about this? That's a strong accusation that Dolson is playing a mind game because he missed a white whale.
-
Gosh, thinking about all of these coaches made head spinning, so I settled on the most surefire and the safest one: John Beilein. Yes Beilein is a grandpa to young players, and he doesn't have many years left in his tank. But in my mind, the most important thing is the next 5 years and how we can get back to relevance during that time, then we can talk about a 10 - 20 year plan.

Yes winning is first and foremost, but for a sustained success at IU, it may take more than winning. DD said Crean, after showing some success, got very arrogant to Indiana high school coaches and AAU coaches. Or maybe like you said, DD's making things too complicated. What we need is a coach who can coach and has a well-rounded personality. -

Yeah, Alford seems to be the one he likes the most. But on one of his shows, I believe he mentioned about Alford's ego, and if Alford drops his ego a bit, he's got a great chance to succeed because of his ability to 'connect' to Indiana high schools, fans, and the former players. All in all, after RMK, all non-IU guys failed and failed to connect to all stakeholders of Indiana basketball (not just IU men's basketball). DD believes it takes one of us who's got deep understanding of the state and IU basketball. It made sense to me. -

Totally makes sense to me. I mean...why would he come to IU to be a savior? He's not even an IU guy. Childhood dream is nothing but a distant memory. -

If Stevens wants to become a full-blown Masshole, he's gotta work on his accent. Here's an instructional video. -

He's got a trophy wife. Seems like a high achiever. Just kidding. I would pass. I don't know...just doesn't feel right. For a blueblood program, I've felt that IU is more of a strong regional program (Midwest) than a national program like other bluebloods. We gotta find the best cultural fit...someone who can connect to people in Indiana. -

Since the 10 mil buyout is a guaranteed income for the next 3 years, if I were him, I'd take a year off to regroup. Not a good thing from IU's perspective, but I don't think it's anything IU admin didn't expect. I think there could be a clause in the contract that Miller should put a reasonable efforts to find the next job, but it's easy to do a subpar job on a job interview...deliberately.
