They're the craziest of the bunch so it means nothing. Like an abuser blaming their victim.

What the hell does this guy do with all his time?
-
This program is officially a laughingstock. Anyone in the administration defending Mike Woodson as coach of this program needs to be ushered out as well. Don't care how it happens.
-
Absolute trainwreck.
-
Does Keion Brooks still have his covid year? Averaged over 20 a game and shot nearly 40% from 3 this year.
-
Well I for one couldn't be more excited about our best case scenario being Utah freaking State next year.

He likes showing everyone that he knows how to use email.

Launch Quinn Buckner into the sun.

He had 5 points and we won by 4. It's basic math guys. If you understood team psychology or played at a high level, you would understand.

Those fire alarms were the best display of defense we've seen in Assembly Hall all year. -

What would cause this type of evacuation? Fire, bomb threat? Really strange. -
Someone pulled an alarm to save Woodson's job. Admin is desperate.
-
How would Pearl have any real say over his son being a successor for the job? Genuinely asking as I don't see how the administration could be held to that. Want him on staff with Bruce? Great. The second BP retires though, you start another search. Maybe give him an interview for appearances, but this isn't a monarchy.

This is where I'm at. My biggest issue with Woodson is not that this season has fallen apart. It's not even that next year looks grim at the moment after a failed recruiting cycle. The lack of activities that drive success is what has me most frustrated. The seeming inability to adjust your system to the talent on the floor, the reported refusal to build close relationships with recruits and their families to drive more consistent recruiting and well-rounded roster building, the apparent lack of vision or perspective on what is going wrong in order to correct course game-to-game, and the stubbornness and/or ego to effectively tell your fanbase to "get over it" all contribute to a picture of a floundering staff that doesn't know how to get back on track. I understand being loyal to the program and coaching staff. Hell, I was on the Archie train way longer than I should have been. But how do you watch the product on the floor and take into account the lack of corrective action being taken and have confidence that things will turn around? A complete black box at this point would be a better option for next year as you can argue there's at least a 50/50 shot of it working out.

No need to cherry pick. From a metrics perspective, this season is one of our worst all time. We're currently 102 in KenPom. That puts us lower than Crean's 2011 season where we ended 12-20. Only 2009 and 2010 have been worse since KenPom rankings existed.

IUBB vs Nebraska- Wednesday 2-21-24 8:30 PM BTN

Just a really sad state of affairs right now. I'm not even angry anymore. Don't want to pile on with the personal attacks. Just tired of the program constantly finding it's way back to this point over the past 2 decades. -
I had a buddy texting me he wanted Woodson out after the Auburn loss. I thought he was crazy at the time given we were coming off a season where we were 2nd in B10, beat Purdue twice, were knocked out by a F4 team in the tourney, and had a bunch of new guys with 5-stars in the pipeline for 2024. Now? It's hard to imagine someone having mismanaged where we were in mid-November to now any worse. On top of that, Woody has seemingly said and done the wrong thing at virtually every turn. He has not handled adversity well this year and I can't imagine him on the sidelines next year without boo-birds sounding off every game we don't play well. Just feels like an absolute nightmare for the admin to deal with for another 12 months.

It's clear the pressure of the IU fanbase is already getting to these two. We need a more proven option! /s

I'll take FAU's S&C guy as well. Some of these guys are BUILT.
-
I mean, are we sure that's not exactly where we've been for a while now?

This is the part that eases a lot of my anxiety out of the gate with May. The pressure to win fast would be tremendous at IU. If he's able to add Johnell and Goldin (I think he has eligibility?) to a roster of Reneau, Mac, Trey, and Liam, you're off and running year 1. Add Sisley and Mullins for '25 and now all the sudden you have a few years of sustainability right from the start. Very intriguing.
-
I'm intrigued by Otz as well, but admittedly have not watched enough ISU to have a strong opinion. I'm concerned we would have to put the "must shoot more 3's" contingent of the fanbase on suicide watch though. His teams are marginally better scoring from 3 than IU has been the last 3 years and currently trending downwards (296th in 3's as % of points this year).

I like Dusty May a lot. I love the story and his accomplishments the past 3 years are impressive given the challenge of winning at FAU. But is it not fair to be a little wary as a fan of a program that has whiffed on multiple coaching hires in a row? I recognize FAU is not an easy place to win, but the reality is the current success of that program has been built on an international transfer from 2021 and 2 guard recruits from 2020. Is expecting May to have overnight success with a relatively small body of work realistic? And would fans be willing to wait if May was only able repeat the timeline of what he did at FAU vs making a quick splash? That would mean he finds key pieces this spring and has a B2B S16 contenders in 2027-2028. I think I would ultimately be happy with May. But I definitely have some not so insignificant concerns about the ability to recruit and sustain success at a high-major, high-pressure environment. For the record since I'll probably be asked, I guess my candidate list would probably break down in 2 tiers. Tier 1 comprised of Drew, Oates, Pearl (but don't love the age) and tier 2 inclusive of May, Shrewsberry (would like to see ND turn around next yr), Cronin, Matta, and maybe Schertz.

Do we even want Fife back given his alleged view on NIL?
