I'm pretty sure some of them only look to see if the defender is outside of the circle at the time of the collision. If he's outside, it's a charge, if he's not it's a block. They don't even care if he was set or not. This rule change wouldn't really affect that since they already don't care about the timing.

So now we can't sell recruits on getting to play the best the B1G has to offer every year? :) JK, this is so much better. When I saw there would be 1-3 protected games per team, I wouldn't have been surprised to see IU's protected games as Purdue, OSU, and Michigan or Penn State to make sure those teams (the latter 2/3 teams, not PU) get their gimme games protected.

Yep, it IU doesn't land him it won't be due to lack of effort.

Rankings aren't everything but that is a pretty impressive list of schools for someone ranked 117. He's not high on my personal list of players I want to land so I wouldn't be upset if he goes elsewhere and I'm totally okay with him not being an IU priority.

I don't think so either based on him wanting lots of minutes as a PG which IU doesn't have available at this time. I just don't put too much stock into a butthurt Twitter post. It is really a similar post to ones that fans make when recruits go elsewhere. "We didn't want him anyways. He's not that good/has poor work ethic/no motor/etc." For a 5th year senior, Mr. Bacot has some maturing to still do.

I'd take that comment by Bacot with a grain of salt. Comes off as sour grapes, especially since this guy wasn't even on campus yet.

I agree that he would be a great pickup. I'm not sure IU can offer him what he's looking for, though. He's listed as a CG but wants to primarily play PG and, of course, to play a lot of minutes at that position. I don't see any way he beats out XJ for those minutes. At UNC, he was probably going to be the starting PG with RJ Davis playing the 2, or at least get plenty of minutes at that position. He decommitted from UNC not too long after a 5* PG reclassified to '23. So it's seem clear that he really wants to play the point more than as a 2 even though he's listed as a CG.

If Ware and Mgbako are first round picks after this season, IU will likely join the elites in recruiting pull. It would also help if TJD squeaks into the 1st round.

I don't think that's hyperbole. Outside of getting hot at the right time to have a good run in the NCAAT in his first season, UNC under Davis has been mediocre at best. Now he's losing recruits. Doesn't look good for him.

What's nice is that IU has been recruiting a lot of those purple names for a long time and seem to be in a good position with most. Nice change of pace for IU. Now they just have to get some of them to commit.
